  1. The first 2 nights I slept on the couch all propped up. Then moved to my bed on the 3rd night. It took maybe a week to transition to my tummy. And let me tell you I was soooo excited!! Im a total stomach sleeper :) Although... even thought I could sleep on my tummy, it took another week before I could roll over and not do it reeeely slow and controlled. But for me it didnt take long. I think I personally healed faster because I was up and about from day 1. Never took pain meds (some people really do need them) and I think for me that made the difference in having a little more energy to move around and heal. My main concern was getting on my tummy at night!!

  2. I have Tricare Prime. My PCM sent the referral in and about 3 days later I went to the "free" seminar at the surgeons office. Did the psyc eval that was paid for, then I did have to pay for nutrition and exercise but thats the only thing I had to pay for. Once I did the things my surgeon required to have the lapband done, they submitted an approval for the surgery. Tricare called me and told me that I was approved and my surgeons office was sent a letter. After about a week or maybe less, I went to a pre-op appointment and the surgery was scheduled from there. I had no problems and it was fast. Total time was about 5 weeks for me. Now that I am 3 1/2 months post-op I have to get some more approvals for more fills but its not a problem. Everything is completely covered for 90 days after surgery, then approvals will need to be done prior to your fills. If your Dr has done tricare before its fast and simple. Good luck.

  3. I did it for my health. I didnt see myself as heavy as I was when I had the surgery. I was having blood sugar issues and infertility issues. My husband NEVER ever has said anything about my weight or size. My knees were hurting and hauling myself off the couch actual hurt. I was completely disgusted with myself and what I have done to my body. I was shy about meeting people and never felt I was worth anything so I never pursued my personal dreams or goals. Now I feel like I can do anything even though I am still a ways from my weight goal. I look at the progress I have made and am so proud of who I truly am. Oh, and my hubby says I'm shrinking by the day and how beautiful I am and always have been :)

  5. I really hope so. I'm at week 7 right now. I'm so tired of having a period for evvveeerrrrrrr. I know once I hit a certain weight I pretty much go normal. I have lost a ton of weight before and it went totally normal until I started gaining weight again and doubled my weight. I really am hoping the whatever weight that is that kicks my body into being normal... is SOON!!

  6. Maybe you really need to see a therapist. You know, beyond that psyc eval you did before surgery. As you know sometimes there are other underlying issues that contribute to overeating and making bad choices. It sounds like you have not changed your behavior and possibly someone could help you deal with that. I know that in the beginning I was mentally starving, but physically not hungry. I think it can go the same way for junk food. Perhaps it is not the food but the behavior. I really hope you find a way to get back on track for you. You went through so much to got banded, now is the time to use it as a proper tool. I offer you any support you need.

  7. The gas pain can last awhile. I didnt take pain meds at all. It wasnt necessary for me. They make me feel worse. I just gas-ex and got up and moved around alot. I had gas pains on and off for almost 2 weeks. My back hurt so bad for quite a few days just after surgery. It does pass but if something ever doesnt feel right, call your Doc. Congrats and good luck.

  8. Being a diabetic could be his reasoning. Just ask. I didn't stay overnight. I got to the hospital at 6:30am and left the hospital about 11:30am. I was in and out. But I did have to have my blood typed which means they were ready if I needed blood. I didnt know why and neither did the staff. It ended up just being something the Dr started doing "in case". I do know I didn't eat much for a few days and that my cause an insulin issue for you. Just ask. Congrats on the surgery.

  9. Your post should be down just above your bellybutton on the left. I had 2 incisions right under my left breast. I didnt wear a bra for about 4 days but after that I tucked some gauze between me and my bra just so the glue wouldnt rip off. It worked just fine. Same with a sports bra.

  10. Learn to really start listening to your body. Learn the difference between thirsty and actual hunger. They feel quite the same. I read an article that said about 2/3 of Americans cant distinguish between the two. Just take this whole thing one step at a time. You will learn things each day. It never ends :) Congrats on your approval. Tricare is really good at approving fast!

  11. I always gain at least 2lbs. Anywhere from 2 to 7 lbs is the norm for me. I see it go up then a day or 2 later I will be at least what I gained and a pound or two lighter. No worries. I know we are all different but its not uncommon to gain some with your period banded or not.

  12. HI all-

Was banded 10/15. So far with pre-op and post op I'm at 34lbs lost. YAYYY!! Getting my second fill Nov 30. I have no restriction and have absolutely no problems. I have lost 6 lbs the last 2 weeks since fill 1 but that was all will power. I usually feel I satisfied after Breakfast and lunch but by the time dinner rolls around... I could eat a horse. I do have an issue getting 64 oz of Water in. I don't know way. Some days I can some I cant.

Good job everyone!! Here's to a productive December.

  13. SO when I had my surgery, Tricare approved the procedure, the Dr post surgery follow up and 6 fills all before the surgery took place. Well I've had 1 fill so far so no big deal. The question is, after my 6 fills, will Tricare pay for any more? I have a 14cc band and the Dr only does 1cc at a time. I dont see how I could have good restriction on less then half a band. Maybe Ill be lucky but I dont know. Has anyone been approved for more then was initially approved?

  14. Was banded Oct 15. I did the pre diet and lost 20lbs and immediately after surgery lost about 5 more. At 3 weeks out I hit a brick wall. I didnt gain but didnt lose. I was starting to get angry since the numbers wouldnt move. I was already working out and eating regular food. I was starving by the time I had my first fill. The day I had my fill I was still starving. I also had an appointment with my nutritionist. He said I was doing well but may want to eat more calories. I was only able to get in about 600 a day. Well let me tell you... I switched up my food intake to slightly higher good calories and in the past 7 days I lost 4 lbs. It was amazing that adding only 100 to 200 calories a day helped to move the weight loss along.

My first fill gave me absolutely no restriction. In fact I can eat anything. I have been struggling with hunger in between meals but so far my will power has held strong. Im glad I go for another fill on the 30th.

I just wanted to bring up the point that you still need to feed your body. Calories are not necessarily our enemy. We need the energy our food provides. Also, once I stopped using so much Protein supplements and relied on my food for Protein, my numbers started to move again.

I just wanted to share in case someone else is in the same boat. Food is not bad, junk is. :)
