  1. I will start by saying I am going to the Dr as soon as I can. Military insurance is different as I have to jump through hoops.

Ok..... Was banded 10/10. Had fantastic results. Had a baby 2012. Here we are 2014 and I am 25 pounds heavier then my last fill (which was in 12/11). I'm not having reoccurring heartburn, but last week is was horrible for about 24 hours. Decided I probably slipped. Had an ok time the next day but decided I really need to get my horrid habits under control. Next day had slight reflux like pressure but I totally went away next day. I've been fine for days now but still waiting on being able to get definitive answers from my dr. I've gone back to 3 meals and following my rules.

Question. Could it just be too tight as I have gained 25lbs and have just hit that area it doesn't like? Or slip? I do PB a few times a week on "naughty" foods. Currently I feel fine since I've gotten back on track.

Thanks to anyone who gets through that lengthy mess.

  2. The joy of BC. I quit taking BC Thanksgiving Day 2011 because I was not losing anything.I hadnt lost 1 lb for months I felt bloated ALL the time and my breasts were constantly sore ans swollen, Be extremely careful. I got pregnant the very next week after stopping!!

  3. Dont over buy yet. I found there were things I couldnt stand the taste of post band. I couldnt do broth after. I did SF all fruit popcicles and apple sauce. Find a good Protein. I like the ones from dietdirect.com. Along with the protein fruit ones like the raspberry lemon-aid. Right after surgery have gas-x strips or pills. The gas was by far the worse pain associated with the band. Its a lot of trial by error. I would grab a few thing but not too much. You should be out of the house and walking around a day or 2 after so use a trip to the store as exercise. Good luck!! Best decision I ever made!!

  4. I got the band at 34 and had my first baby at 36. I would have had a very hard time if I didnt lose the weight first. Gestational diabetes was not something I wanted to deal with on top of high bp and and a bunch of other issues I had pre band. I had absolutely no issues during my pregnancy and had a normal vaginal delivery. My son and I were both healthy and pre band I dont know if we would have been. I couldnt get pregnant for 17 years pre band. The 18 months I waited after surgery was worth it. I plan on trying again next year and will be 38 before the next one. I believe its better to be a healthy older mom instead of an unhealthy only a year younger mom.

    Good luck.

  5. At the end of my pregnancy (34-40 weeks) my port was very sore. Remember your port is attached to the muscle. I didnt get very big until the last 3 weeks or so and thats when it hurt the most. More uncomfortable than anything. Especially when I layed or leaned on it. I never had any Fluid removed but I also didnt have morning sickness. The pain goes away the moment the baby is born. Well at least for me it did. I do remember in my 1st trimester and the beginning of my second as my body stretched, I did feel my port but it went away until the end.

    Congrats and good luck!!

  6. I gained a total of 30lbs and 2 weeks after delivery I was at pre pregnancy weight. At 5 weeks postpartum I at down an additional 10lbs. I gained most of it in the last 5 weeks. First trimester I gained 1lbs second tri a of 15 and 15 more the last 5 weeks. The last 2 weeks I was pretty swollen, not bad swollen but until then I had no swelling at all. I had a big baby (like is daddy) and the rest was blood and placenta. Dont worry. If your healthy 30lbs will fall right off.

  7. I dont know why a lot of Dr's say you may have to have a c-section. I dont think we bandseters are at any different risk if we have healthy pregnancies. I understand some have to but not all. I had a fantastic labor and delivery. Not one time during my entire pregnancy did I have complications from the band. I mean in my last month I couldnt eat much but I had a 9lb baby taking up the room. I lost all the baby weight within 2 weeks and now 5 weeks postpartum I am down an additional 10lbs. The beauty of breastfeeding.

  8. I ate whatever I wanted. I did try to eat healthy but my son made me crave beef and I didnt eat red meat for several years before getting pregnant. I did drink juice every day, not a lot of carbs but meat was a must. Eat several times a times a day and later in your third tri eating smaller meals will keep the heart burn at a minimum. I didnt have heartburn until the last month and no morning sickness. Just try to eat balanced and good food. You cant really do wrong if you just try to eat healthy.

Good luck!! Oh, and my son is 13 days old and I am 3lbs below my pre pregnancy weight which is the lowest Ive been!!

  9. Sept 1st we welcomed our first baby and a lapband baby!! Without the band, my little sweet man would not be here! The band is the only reason that after 17 years, I was able to get pregnant.

Anyone who needs encouragement, the band is worth it and with time fertility can be returned. It has been a very emotional 17 years and I am so excited that I am healthy enough to have given birth to a beautiful baby boy.

  10. I was 224 when I got pregnant. I have 10cc's in a 14 cc band and nothing was removed. I was completely unable to conceive before and this has been a fantastic pregnancy. If its time nothing will stop it! Be sure to eat well, chew, chew, chew and you should be fine. I didnt have morning sickness so I felt no need to have anything removed. Dont feel weird because you have the band. My Dr has several patients that have it and not one time did I feel weird about having it. Only strange thing is that as I got bigger the port can get sore but nothing horrible. Im just over 39 weeks and dont regret any part of the band or pregnancy. Best of luck.

  11. You have to mourn the loss of a friend, food. I know I did. THere was a lot of struggle the first few weeks. It does get easier!! The beginning sucks at times but remember why you did this. It gets easier and as time goes on you develop a new friend!!
