  1. I have the same fear! I have lost 136 lbs but lately I have been eating like crap and feel like its too much. I still have 25 lbs to go before I hit goal and I have recommited to eating better. No more soda and no more sweets til thanksgiving! I haven't gained but I am so fearful of stretching out my new stomach. And no more green! I always overeat when I get the munchies. Lol!

  2. Hello All!! I was sleeved Jan 24th 2011. It has been an interesting journey to say the least. My SW was 304 and I am now 212. Only 12 lbs til ONEDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant belive it. I recently changed my goal weight to 140 from 160 but Im not sure if that is very realistic but I am striving for it!!! My weight loss has slowed down some but that is due to my "falling of the wagon" and when I say that I mean not working out or eating as healthy. But the AMAZING part of the sleeve is that although I messed up I am still losing weight!!!! Its not 3-5 lbs/week anymore..more like 1-3 lbs a week. But the beauty of it is that I can start fresh and when I work out I drop ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know Im not gaining it back. If anyone is thinking about this DO IT!!!!!!!!!! Best decision I've ever made!!!!!!!!!! And I know it gets old but this is just a TOOL. But damn it is the best effing tool I've ever used and if you work the sleeve it will work for you!!!!!!!!! This week Im becoming more committed again and staying away from the crap. My problem is I forget to eat and Im a single mom and I work 2 jobs so I eat out. Well I have a wedding June 17th and I want to be UNDER 200!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope all is going well for eveyone!!!!!!!!!

  3. On April 24th I will be exactly 3 months out. I have lost 67 lbs since then and I feel great!!! I started out at 304 and today I am 237. I still have a long way to go but it no longer feels impossible. The one thing that I need to do that Im not is taking Vitamins. I know I know. I should be but I cant keep them down. I dont do well with Bariatric Advantage or Celebrate. Im just going to start doing the gummies I think. Some is better than none.

I also dont eat a low fat or sugar free "diet". I do track everything I eat on myfitnesspal.com I try to stick to whole natural foods. Occasionally I have a cookie and its the real stuff. I try to drink either Water or unsweetened tea but there are days I will hav OJ or sweet tea. I do full fat cheeses and everything but in moderation. I figure that no that quality is so important why put cardboard tasting stuff in my mouth?? It has worked. I also try to workout 3-4 times a week and I do Zumba. I have been trying to swich to a mostly organic lifestyle.

I have went from a size 24 to a 20. I thought it would be more? Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I have heard peopl say that the smaller you get the more drastic the change in sizes gets??

    Any feedback on this??

  4. I am almost 3 months out and I feel the same way. I admit I dont measure my food but I know I can eat more than 1/4 cup but I do try to listen to my body and stop before I feel full. I have lost 60 lbs. 9 of that on the pre-op diet. Its scary sometimes b/c I feel like I can eat more but then I compare that to what I used to be able to eat and its so little. Its even smaller than the skinny girls I know so I cant complain.

  5. Thank you Tiffykins!! You are actually one of my biggest inspirations!! You look amazing and I starting out about 30 lbs more than you. If I saw you on the street I would not know you were ever overweight. I've always been big and I cant imagine myself smaller than a 18 but you make me think that its possible!! Congrats on all your milestones and your "surprise"!!! lol.

  6. Hey Annis53!! Congrats on your weight loss!! And actually I eat between 800-1000 calories a day. I usually eat only 3 meals with no Snacks but sometime I will throw a little one in there. My thing is I dont do "diet" food. I eat full fat cheeses and real eggs. I use EVOO or butter in my cooking but in moderation and I only get the best. Now that I can consume so little quality is very important. I have been transitioning to a mostly organic lifestyle slowly with only a small amount of processed food.

    Here is a sample

B - Plain yogurt with granola and berries mixed in or 1 egg with sauteed veggies and sausage/bacon

L - Usually leftovers or meat and cheese rollups. I like Turkey, Swiss and Avocado rollups. Or some kind of salad.

D - Varies greatly but I have had chili, casseroles, chicken with asparagus. Tonight I am making crab stuffed portobella mushrooms.

For fluids I try to do mosly Water. I stopped drinking Crystal Light b/c of the aspartame. I will occasionly have a glass of OJ especially if I need a calorie boost. I drink organic 2% milk. I use myfitnesspal.com to track my calories. I try to eat as whole and natural as possible.

IMO I think 400 cals is too little. Maybe try increasing and see if you lose?? I dont do low carb but I dont eat a lot of bread/pasta/ crackers either so when Im over on carbs its usually from "healthy" sources. I stay in between 75-100 gms of carbs 40-50 gms of fat but again these are from EVOO and other natural food sources. I do not usually meet my Protein requirements and thats b/c I dont do shakes. My labs are fine though and I am finding ways to increase this.

  7. I will admit that its been a rough couple of months. I had a difficult time adjusting. But now that Im better I love my sleeve!! I feel like I have so much more power now!! Like before I was a slave and now I have control. And I love that feeling!!

I was sleeved 2 month ago (Jan 24th) and in that time I have lost 53 lbs and counting!!!! It feels great and I cant wait to lose more. Im hoping to at least lose 100 lbs by June b/c I have a wedding to go to.

I still have times where I think Im eating too much or I doubt if this is going to work but I try to just focus and enjoy the journey.

  8. Instead of doing sugar free I just dont drink those juices. I am now tryng to eat more of a whole foods and organic diet and all that sugar free stuff is pumped full of chemicals. I have not had too many sweets since surgery maybe 3 items if that. I am moving away from processed junk so I will not be eating Cookies and stuff unless I make them and I will be using either honey, maple Syrup, agave nectar or raw sugar to sweeten them. I am also not doing fat free anything especially cheese and I have stayed within my calories and have so much energy without all those chemicals in my body. I have already lost 50 lbs in a month and a half while following this. I track on myfitnesspal.com and that has helped. Whole foods are so much healthier.

  9. Ok here are my stats. I lost 9 lbs on the preop diet. I was sleeved on Jan 24th. My SW was 294. After 4 weeks I had gotten down to 264. For 3 weeks I have been bouncing around between 262-264 and it will not move!!!!!! I am so scared of failing at this!!! I am really discouraged. My nutritionist told me to up my calories. I dont do the Protein shakes so she told me to get Carnation Instant Breakfast. Im not supposed to snack so she said do those instead. I started working out at the YMCA and I start a Zumba class tonight. Any suggestions??

I need some words of wisdom.

    Heres a sample meal plan

    B - Eggface "bites" 3 grapes

L - Turkey, Avocado, and cheese

    D - Baked chicken and a veggie

I will start supplementing with the Carnation. Had my first one today and I will have my second before my Zumba class.

  10. The only requirement of my surgeon's office is that you attend a support group meeting, which I did. BCBS IL requires a three month diet, which I actually did for five months. I have been overweight for most of my life so we could go back 25 years to prove I have been overweight and that has never changed. I don't know why they think weight has to be discussed each year. That is not the impression I was under from the insurance company. I know it was not discussed with my doctor each year. If I only went to the doctor a couple of times each year for a cough or something, why would it have been discussed? I am just frustrated right now. Is it possible to make the surgeon's office submit the paperwork even if they think I am wrong?

I am sorry to hear that you are frustrated. Im not sure if you can do that but it never hurts to ask. I will say that for me I hadnt gone to a pcp in 5 years. I was in foster care and dont remember any of my doctors. I had virtually no history of talking with my doctor about my weight. I did see my ob/gyn for my pregnancy and they weigh you but that was not even reported to BC/BS. But I did have a great bariatric team who made sure everything was taken care of. They have an insurance specialist who actually makes sure that everything is being done and prints out what is required and what is covered. For example my nutrition visits were not included in my policy. I would really sit down with them and have them explain IN DETAIL what is needed and what they recommend.

  11. I have Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Illinois and wonder what others requirements were for approval. I have talked to the insurance company and have been dealing with the surgeon's office and getting different information. I believe they are on two different pages. When I spoke to the insurance company, they said I had to have three years of medical records showing I have been overweight and three months of either a doctor supervised diet or a weight loss program such as Weight Watchers. My surgeon's office is saying during the three years of medical records, I have to have discussed my weight with the doctor, which I did not do every year. I was not under that same impression. I thought I just had to have records showing my weight. I do know that the requirements for BCBS of Illinois seem to be a little less strict than other BCBS plans because they had initially told me I had to have other certain requirements done and then they found out that Illinois did not require those. I think we are all under different impressions about what is required. I am just curious as to what other people's requirements were. Thanks for any help you can give! Also, is it a possibility for me to tell the surgeon's office that I want them to submit the information they have and just see how it goes? I didn't know most surgeon's office would do it that way. I definitely have much more work to do! Thanks again.

I had my surgery on the 24th of Jan and I have BC/BS of IL. I needed a history of weight but I just had to fill out a paper stating my weights over the last couple of years. I wrote down the diets i had tried and how much I had lost., I did a 3 month supervised diet with my pcp. That turned into 6 months b/c my surgeons requirements. I had to see a therapist. Per my surgeons office I had to have a therapist evaluation, nutrition classes, dietician visits, and more. They have to approve you before they will submit for surgery. It only took 2 months to get my approval. I hope this helps!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!

  12. To make a long story short I was sleeved Mon the 24th and had some problems with nausea and vomiting. That felt better Wed but I was not able to get in my 64 oz so I wasnt released til today. I am feeling better. A little tired (single mom with no help) Im still not able to get in 64 oz.
