    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

So funny you mention Al Roker, he's totally the person I had heard about. He was wearing a white suit in the white house. UGH!! My worst nightmare.

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

Thanks Joleza, glad to hear this surgery was easier. I had assumed it would be much harder.

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

Thanks, it sounds awful and it's what is making me afraid of the bypass.

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

Thanks. I'm always home now but once Covid is over I'll go back to always at work or eating out very often so this is a real concern. I appreciate your help. I'm very tormented and have no idea what I'm going to do.

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

So not to get too personal, but I've heard you can poop your pants when this happens. I can't bear the thought of this. Also, I like to drink wine occasionally and I've heard that if you drink it causes dumping. Feel free not to answer if this is too gross and I apologize for asking if this offends you.

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

My surgeon said that the incidence of reflux with the sleeve is much lower than it is with the band.

Thanks. It's not the surgery I'm afraid of it's the after effects of dumping syndrome etc.

    Lap-Band Removal

Thanks so much for sharing. I will not get the bypass. This whole Covid thing makes it harder too because a big part of the reason I've put this weight on is because I went from doing fitness bootcamp 1 hour a day 5 days a week to doing almost nothing once my gym closed. The struggle is real. 😞

    Lap-Band Removal

I would never get my band removed if it wasn't giving me so much trouble. I LOVED my band but the reflux it caused was hell on earth. I'd give anything to have just kept the band if it wasn't for that.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. It's such a tough decision.

    Lap-Band Removal

S@ssen@ch: I'm so glad to read your story. I got the band in 2010 and lost 100 pounds and life was good until the reflux started. It was so horrible I woke up choking every night and eventually could only sleep in a chair. They took all the fluid out of my band about 6 months ago and that combined with covid pounds and not being able to get to the gym I've put on 40 pounds and I'm miserable. I'm on track to get it removed and get a sleeve but I'm hearing that the sleeve causes reflux too and now I'm having second thoughts. Do you have any issues with reflux with the sleeve?

    Gastric Band Revision To Sleeve

Ugh, I'm terrified about the thought of of a bypass. I'd quite frankly not have anything if that's my only choice.

    Halloween Challenge

Well I fell short of my goal, but did lose 10 pounds at least. I still wish I was losing faster, but at least I'm still losing. Slow and steady wins the race I guess!
  15. I'm still learning... what exactly are your slider foods? I keep hearing the term "slider food" and I still don't exactly know what that means (except for ice cream.) There are some days certian foods go down really well for me, and other days the same foods won't go down at all so I'm really not sure what slider foods are. Any help in understanding this would be grately appreciated. Thanks!

Okay, I'm in and I'll shoot for 15 pounds!
  17. I had my first fill on Tuesday. I was really looking forward to it and everything seemed fine until I started back on solid foods. Now I swear I'm able to eat more now than I did before the fill. I didn't expect that I'd be at my sweet spot right away - I realize it might take some time and many more fills, but I did not AT ALL expect to feel like I could eat even more. How is that even possible?

    So Confused

I wasn't expecting my first fill to make a huge difference, and I'm fully aware it might take many, many more fills before I feel restriction. What I wasn't expecting was feeling like I was able to was able to eat a LOT more after the fill. That's the part I still don't understand.

Okay, I'm crossing fingers for both of us!

    So Confused

Good to hear it might still tighten up! I scheduled my next fill for June 1st no matter what. I am being very careful and staying away from slider foods. Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
  21. I'm FINALLY going for my first fill on Tuesday and I can't wait! I'm getting so hungry I don't feel like I have a band at all. (I was banded on March 18th) I understand that I can only have fluids for 48 hours after my fill, but should I have fluids only the morning before my fill as well? I didn't think to ask, and I'm guessing that because that they didn't tell me means no, but I thought I'd check here anyway.
  22. I’m only 17 days post op, so I don’t know about it showing yet, but I can tell you that I have always slept on my stomach and I can’t seem to do that now because I can feel my port when I do. If it’s that close to the surface that I can feel it when I lie on my stomach now, I have to think that when I lose all of my extra weight (130 pounds) that it will show then. I’m not thrilled about this, but I will be SO thrilled to lose 130 pounds that a little protrusion from my port will be a small price to pay for getting my life back and being a part of the “normal” world again, rather than living in the the obese world that I'm living in now.
  23. I have recently been banded and I’m told that I can’t drink a half hour before or after I eat. What is the REAL reason for this? Is it because fluids wash food down, enabling you to eat more? Or is it because if you drink too much in fluids you can’t get enough of the food you need for nutrition? I’m committed to do whatever I need to do to loose weight, but I’m just curious about what the real reason behind this rule is.
  24. This is a question I have too. I was banded on March 18th and I had my regular yearly checkup with my own Dr. last week, and she mentioned that after losing all the weight I might need some plastic surgery that she thought would be covered by my insurance. Is that possible??? Does insurance cover a tummy tuck?? God that would be AWESOME!!! Does anyone have any experience with this?
  25. I start mushies on Thursday and it’s all I ever think about! I’m totally obsessed about my first meal, and all the meals after that. Is this unhealthy? After two weeks of nothing but clear liquids and protein shakes I’m so hungry and it’s all I can think about. My obsession with food is what got me here in the first place and I’m trying to not obsess, but man… am I hungry!! P.S. Anyone have some good suggestions for a good first meal??? I'm drooling thinking about it.
