  1. I usually half a half of one of these for breakfast or half of a Pepperidge Farm Deli Slice (little round pieces of bread, 100 calories for the whole thing, 6g protein I believe). They are awesome!
  2. B-day, that's cute! Congrats on your date. Surgery will go great and before you know it you'll be on the path to losing. The nerves/anxiety are common, so take it day-by-day! I was definitely nervous the morning of surgery, but it was truly worth it. Good luck!
  3. Congrats on your date and starting your journey! January 2011 will be here before you know it! I hope to be at (or preeetty close to) my goal by then Definitely best of luck to you!
  4. Good! Besides, who wouldn't prefer a little bit of loose skin over carrying so much extra weight?
  5. Congrats!! Awesome goal; you'll reach your next one soon enough.
  6. It's definitely worth it!! You will do great throughout and after. Positive thoughts.
  7. Woo hoo! Congrats. I'm hoping I can do this in Vegas in October!
  8. Haha; VERY normal. I can't say mine was too bad but I've read others having (and still having) a lot of gas post-op. It'll get better!
  9. This has to be the stupidest thing I've ever read and I'm not trying to be mean one bit. The purpose of the band isn't to starve yourself or hope that somehow your stomach is going to stretch so that you're no longer throwing up. Have you not read the complications from being too tight for too long or the results of vomiting your food from your pouch each day? Maybe you should. If you're not losing, look at what you're eating; exercise more; vomiting up your food really isn't the answer. Again, not trying to be mean, I just think this is entirely silly.
  10. I'd continue to eat healthy. It's tough but hang in there! Look at the weight you've lost and use that as something to push you through. Though, not to burst you bubble, but it's very rare that with the first fill you'll achieve restriction. It can sometimes take 2-3 fills.
  11. I used to eat just 3 meals a day until I upped my exercise. Now I eat a very light snack when I wake up (4AM) and then that's it for the day with snacks. Snacks aren't a bad thing, it really depends on what you choose to eat. I usually have 1/2 cup of fruit or half of a protein bar. But like others said once you get to the restriction you want to be at, they may not be necessary.
  12. Woo. I'm just finding this thread! Congrats to everyone on their losses.
  13. I think your expectations are a little high right now. You're a week out from surgery; your body is still healing. You aren't going to see drastic results for months possibly. It all depends on how much you lose. Some people say they see a difference once you've lost about 20lbs, but again it differs. You will see the differences soon, so don't stress too much over them. Like others have said take a few pictures from different angles and in a month or two, take more and compare them. You'll see the changes and hopefully you'll feel them as well.
  14. Well first off congrats on deciding to get banded. I know all about being young and nervous; I'm only 19 and I've been banded for almost 4 months now. I was out for 2 weeks after surgery, but mainly because I had the sick leave to waste. It all depends on your pain tolerance. Some people go back after a week (I could have) and others go back a few days later. As for the loose skin issue, it really depends on genetics, how long you've been overweight, how overweight you are, etc. For me my skin has done pretty well, but I do still want plastic surgery in the future. Some people say that weights can help your skin a bit, but you will still probably have some that is loose. Good luck!
  15. Woo hooo! Congrats!!
  16. Lapband was my first surgery ever as well and I did think about not waking up. However, the chances are extremely rare. If you're worried, talk to the anesthesialogist before surgery. Tell him what happened previously and he will make note of it. It's definitely a valid concern, but if your doctors know your medical history, you'll be fine! Relax and before you know it you'll be waking up out of surgery banded on your journey.
  17. First congrats on losing 111lbs, that is truly amazing! Sorry for this recent obstacle but keep your head high, things will get better. You'll be in my thoughts for a speedy recovery!
  18. I'd have it done as long as I had enough time to recover/get off of the post-op diet. I wouldn't want to go on vacation hurting or having to deal with doing a mushies or liquid diet.
  19. That is a lot of vomiting and I'd go see a doctor. You're obviously eating the wrong foods, not chewing, or not taking small enough bites. No you aren't throwing up acid as the food is the food from in your pouch and it hasn't yet reached the lower stomach where the acid resides. As for long-term effects, you can cause your band to slip, which is often only fixed by a complete unfill or a complete removal. I'd really consult a doctor.
  20. Some people do lose very quickly after surgery as well as during the pre-op diet. The only time I stopped losing was when I wasn't taking in enough calories. I lost 12lbs during the pre-op and post-op for about 2 weeks I was losing about 7lbs a week. That of course slowed down, but that's expected. Everyone's body is different.
  21. I think that is plenty doable if you stick to the rules and exercise.
  22. Wow that is awesome!!! I'd love to be able to run for more than a few minutes but something about running with my mouth wide open just doesn't work too well LOL. I need to work on the breathing properly too. Either way, congrats. That is an awesome victory and you're right, there is no limit as to what we can do.
  23. My doctor said about 2-3 weeks, but I really took it slow, just to make sure everything was healed and that my port was no longer hurting so much. I remember doing a sit up hurt like hell the first time, but now it's nothing. P.S. I plan to do P90X after I finish P90, though I want to do a hybrid between P90X Lean and Insanity. Down 11lbs, a few inches, and only 3 weeks in. Exciting!
  24. Oddly enough I really know the feeling! I eat about a cup of food, sometimes less, and there are times when I'm just like, ugh, have to eat. It's funny how food was my go-to before the band now I have to remind myself to eat!
  25. I know all about this! I've been able to stop and reduce it to once a week (Sundays, my rest day from exercise). I used to do it several times a day and it would often ruin my mood because the scale would be up a pound or so. Now it's a huge surprise to step on it and be down some pounds!
