    /Not losing weight???

Congrats on your weight-loss so far. Please remember that you had surgery about a month ago and that your body is healing. Mostly everyone loses a lot of weight in the beginning, but it will slow down. Give yourself time to heal and try to stay off the scale. If you're cleared for exercise, go do some walking. Switch up your calories if you can. The first 6 weeks is really about healing. Your weight will go up and down plenty of times, so, not to be blunt but, get used to it. It's all part of the journey.
  2. Ive been averaging about 500-700 calories a day, usually more on the low side. I haven't had more than 20 calories a day in weeks now.

    How long does this last?

A week or so. Your body is healing. Take your pain meds if you need them and rest.

    insanity

I wouldn't recommend P90x either..that's even more advanced than Insanity. I've been doing the Slim in 6 series and it's been going well. After this I plan to do the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred with (possibly) ChaLean added into it. For starters I'd recommend Slim in 6. Master that and then move on. I plan to do p90, and then possibly insanity, but this will be after I've started to lose more weight.
  5. We're kind of around the same stats so good luck if you do decide to go with Lapband! For one, most insurance companies require a BMI of 40 or a BMI of 35 with two comorbidies. Since you're so close to 40, maybe it'd be beneficial to gain a pound? That sounds silly but unless you have comorbidies, you may have problems. You may want to look in the California state forum to find people who have been banded in LA.
  6. You have to decide which one is best for you. Not every WLS is right for one person. Some do better with the band, some fail, but the same goes for all types of WLS. Take a look at the pros and cons of both surgeries, and decide which one really suits you best. No one can give you the answer but you, though talking to a WLS may help you to decide.
  7. Definitely needs an unfill. Even a small one can really help.
  8. Try going to bariatriceating.com They have good recipes there to try for all stages.

    First Fill Didn't Work??

You're not gonna have restriction after one fill. It's gonna take a few probably to get to where you want to be. If you can eat as much as you want, you have to learn to stop yourself; self control. Go get another fill and restriction will come soon. I've only had surgery 2 months ago, but no fill and 45lbs gone. It works different for everyone.
  10. First post-op appt. the surgeon usually weighs you, asks you how you feel, looks at your incisions, etc. He'll probably feel your port just to make sure it's where it needs to be. It's painless really. No fear of becoming anorexic. I'm not depriving myself of food, nor does gaining a pound here or there bother me. I'm learning how to eat RIGHT, not how to deprive myself of things. If you are seriously worried about it, I'd go to a doctor because it can happen. Not sure why you aren't sleeping. Maybe you just can't get comfortable? Ask your doctor.
  11. I think how much you lose and how quickly really depends on how determined you are to lose the weight. For many it comes off easily during the pre-op stage, and sometimes right after surgery. But that does slow down, so be prepared for that. I'm 19 and I've been banded for 2 months, and I've lost 45lbs, about 15 pre-op I believe. In any case, the weight loss is in your court. Get your fills (IF necessary), eat right, exercise, and the scale will show you what you want to see.
  12. The skin on my stomach has started to shrink, but I know it will still hang and a tummy tuck is probably inevitable. But once it's stretched it usually stays that way.

    In the 120's!

YAY! Good job. I wanna end up in the 120's. I can't wait  Got a long way to go though.

    Why are we doing this?

1.) To be healthy. Being as heavy as I was at 19 isn't healthy, and even though I didn't have severe health problems, I'm sure I was getting there. But 45lbs lighter I'm healthier feeling both physically and mentally. 2.) Comfort. I don't feel very comfortable carrying around 100lbs+ of extra weight. It sucks, and even dumb things such as going to the mall really makes me uncomfortable. The weight is coming off and I see myself feeling much better personally. 3.) I LOVE rollercoasters, though I always aimed for the middle of them because that's where the "heavier" people can fit. I never had a problem fitting, but it will be nice to go on and be able to sit where I want and not have to worry about a thing. 4.) Looks wise. Of course, at 19 going on 20 I wanna be able to look good and feel good too. I'm already down to a size L/XL in most clothing and down 2 pants sizes, so I'm getting there.
  15. You need another fill. Don't let yourself get down and discouraged. If you aren't losing, up your exercise and start tracking your food. You DON'T need a fill to lose weight. I have not had one and I've lost almost 45lbs. Of course, it's different for everyone, but don't blame the band entirely. You have to push yourself as well and get your metabolism going.
  16. Congrats on your loss and good luck on your journey. You're doing awesome.

    Am I on Track?

    You're doing awesome!!
  18. BCBS Fed. Employee Program covered 85% of mine. I've paid about $600 total.
  19. It sounds like you need a small unfill..If you can't keep food down then I'd go to see your doctor.

    stall?

You're only a few weeks out from surgery, so give your body a break. It does need to heal. As for your rapid weightloss after surgery, that's very common, and you've got to be ready for it to slow down, because it will/always does. Try to play with your calories, and add in some exercise, and the scale will move.

    Yikes! Stopped Losing!

Plateaus are common. Try mixing up your calories/carbs. Add in more exercise or do something different. It will start to come off again
  22. I'd just like to be healthy, and like Besty said, comfortable! At 19 I've really turned down a lot of things because of my weight and carrying around 120lbs of extra fat is really NOT enjoyable. Most of all it'll be good knowing I'm healthier and was able to lose the weight before any serious illnesses struck. But of course, I can't wait to try on size 6 pants and fit them!
  23. Congrats on your loss! You look great. I can't wait to hit 50lbs!
  24. Try to mix up your exercise. Do some high cardio, maybe add in some weights. Try to mix up your calories. I'll eat 600 one day, 800 the next, 650 the next, and son on. I was at a plateau for a little and the scale has been moving again. Make sure you're tracking your food, especially the protein amounts. You may also want to keep an eye on your carbs, but that doesn't work for everyone.
