    Stretching?

Slim and Limber from the Slim in 6 series is good. If not, YouTube some stretches! Kudos to doing stretching. I always give up on it.

    The Scales of Justice...

I usually weigh myself each morning, but I really need to stop! The scale has been going up slowly, like .2 a day or so. I'm guessing it's because I'm doing high cardio w/ weights and building lean muscle. I'm definitely losing inches as I'm down from size 20 to 16s and size L shirts. So upping the calories a bit to about 800 and hopping off the scale. Hopefully it starts to go back down!

    Hello!

I feel awesome!! 50lbs off of you really feels great, though I never imagined I'd be 50lbs lighter this quickly. It's definitely the best decision I've made yet. I ran across Dr. You when I was looking for a local surgeon too. I went with Dr. Singh though. He's truly a blessing. Hopefully your doctor proves to be great as well :tt2: If you have any questions/just wanna chat, feel free to message me.
  4. Congrats! You really are doing great. Slow loser or not, the numbers truly show how well you're doing. Keep on going! :tt2:

    Anxiously Awaiting Approval

Congrats and good luck on your approval/journey! I never had to go through the waiting for approval process. My insurance company basically told me yes over the phone. Here's to you getting approved! :tt2:

    New Heree (Ready for Change)

Congrats! It's good that you've decided to try to get healthy again. A tummy tuck really wouldn't have done you any good, especially if you don't know how to eat properly/exercise to keep the weight off. Good luck and hopefully you'll be happier and healthier in college!

    Hello!

Congrats Jess! I'm a little younger than you but we're both from MD, exciting. :tt2: Can I ask what surgeon you're considering working with? Awesome job on starting your journey. It's nice to have someone else around you who can help you through it all! I can say it's definitely one of the best decisions I've made.
  11. I eat normally too :tt2: Anyways, congrats on finding what works for you and good luck.

    Teenager

Break your exercise up throughout the day. One thing I've learned so far is that there is NO excuse for not exercising. Though sometimes I have to push myself, I know exercise is a must. Try walking/running your treadmill each day. If you have small handweights, walk your treadmill while using them. You can YouTube plenty of quick work-out videos that you can try, or even small exercises you can do. Sit-ups, pushups, crunches, different arm lifts with your dumbbells...there's a lot you can do. I know of a few 10-minute work out vids. Some may be on YouTube. Aim for 30 minutes a day, and increase it if you have time. Good luck!

    Realilty starting to hit

Congrats! It all does really start to hit home when you're going through all that. I remember the weeks flying and surgery coming up so quick. Good luck on your journey
  14. You're hungry again because the swelling has gone down. It's pretty common. Until your fill you're gonna have to do it on your own. Willpower and really just the power to walk away from food and to keep yourself from grazing. Keep yourself busy. Drink your water/protein shakes that will fill you up.

    Need some advice......

I had surgery at 7:45 and left that night. I would NOT have stayed there. I hate hospitals. It's so uncomfortable. It felt nice to just be home after such a long day. Though some people stay if they are in a lot of pain and can be given pain meds through the IV. Some doctors require you to be able to walk/drink before you can be discharged. Ask your insurance company/doctor and they'll let you know what's best. My doctor originally wanted me to stay but I was up and walking in no time.
  16. It can bother your port yes..but your lapband is nowhere near your waist. So, port yes, but the band itself? No.
  17. Congrats and wow!!! You look awesome. You're definitely a Bandster success. I can only hope to look as good as you in a year!
  18. I think it varies for everyone. Try to mix up your calories and see what gets the scale moving. I usually eat around 400-700 calories a day, though I've hit 900+ before. As for the "starvation mode," I can't say I believe it. My doctor said no one, especially with the band, needs to eat above 1000 calories a day. I don't eat when I'm not hungry, as that isn't really healthy to me. I did that without the band. I eat 3 meals a day, and sometimes a snack if I need it, which is rare. My food usually holds me over for 3-4 hours, sometimes more. I can't see myself eating above 1000 calories a day, especially when my food intake is limited to ONE cup of food and I watch my carbs religiously now. I guess some can. Either way, find an amount that works for you. Good luck!
  19. Any exercise is good. I started out walking. My surgeon said wait until 6 weeks post-op to do heavy exercising or lifting. Now I'm doing the Slim in 6 series and loving it! Moving onto P90 next. Definitely ask your surgeon, and don't push yourself. Do exercise that makes you feel comfortable, but if it hurts, stop. Walking is always good! As long as you're getting your heart-rate up.
  20. What was the date of your surgery? May 10, 2010 How healthy did you/do you eat? Pretty healthy. I count my carbs, fats, and calories each day. Protein of course too. Before I'd skip breakfast/lunch and just binge at dinnertime. How much do you exercise? At least 45 minutes a day. How much have you lost? Almost 50lbs. Are you happy with your results? Estatic! 50lbs gone in 3 months and no fill. I couldn't be more happy! Hopefully the trend continues.

    today is the day

Congrats and good luck!!! You'll do great. Being anxious is normal. Be sure to get your fluids in and rest. Walk when you can too.

    New bandee

Take some Gas-X and rest. It gets better! Congrats on being banded.
  23. Congrats on your decision and good luck! You'll do awesome and sounds like you have a great supportive family to help you along.
  24. It will definitely go away, give it some time. I'm about 2+ months out and if I move the wrong way I still get a "reminder" that my port is there. It gets better though!
  25. Walking really isn't enough exercise. Your metabolism slows down. Try adding in weights or doing some sort of exercise video. I stalled when I was just walking, picked up my exercise, and started losing again. Also mess around with your calories. A variety is good.
