  1. 130 even! scale just doesn't want me to see 129. :P next week. Happy Sunday everyone!

  2. Woo hooo! Had fun baking today :) Peanut flour banana bread. Delish.

  3. First 6 weeks are about healing. Stay off the scale; you're not going to drop lbs like that. You didn't get fat overnight, did you? The average loss with the band is 1-2lbs a week; you're ahead of the curve.

    Loose Skin

There is really no way to stop loose skin; it all comes down to your genetics, age, how long you've been overweight, how overweight you are, etc etc. I'm 20, active as ever, and I have flabby skin in some places. Weightlifting has helped, but in the end I expected it. I was 120lbs overweight, my skin was/is never going to be perfect. In the end you'll have to decide what's a better decision. Loose skin that can be removed if need be or continuing to be overweight. It was an easy decision, for me.
  5. I have a strong strong love for protein brownies - yum!

  6. While that may be true, in the end a fat is still a fat, carb is still a carb. I said nothing about digestion, glucose, etc etc etc. A simple carb and a complex carb is still a carb. My body isn't screaming and yelling "Hey reverie you just ate "simple carbs," get ready to pack on the pounds!"Glucose levels have very little to do with weight-loss. Just like the average person pays no mind to GI anymore, or at least shouldn't. While I agree that some fats are "better" than others, they're all still fats. Carb is a carb; Fat is a fat. end of. We can agree to disagree.

    Do I have a gallstone/bladder?

Could still be gas pains from surgery. Call your surgeon if youre worried.
  8. Doubt you'll be up on the scale. If you are it's not a true gain. You may be up from the carbs/salt, otherwise I wouldn't sweat it. Pick yourself up and move on. One "bad" day won't cause you to pack on 10lbs. PS. Sounds like the foods you choose to snack on weren't bad choices at all!
  9. I had to stop taking them LOL! I could never get over the taste and I was never sure if swallowing chewables was okay :| Thank god I can take normal MVs or I'd be going nuts.
  10. I used Centrum chewables. I was told no Flintstone vitamins as they don't contain everything we need post-op. If you buy them, just be sure to compare the vitamin/mineral percentages to another vitamin just to make sure it's a complete vitamin.
  11. You're fine. No your band didn't slip If the bands were that fragile we'd all be screwed; especially me! Allergies have been kicking my butt this year. Relax If the pain continues maybe call your surgeon for reassurance but I'm pretty sure you did no damage.

    So crazy

Congrats! It's a great feeling, isn't it? It is strange at first but the outcome is nothing short of amazing. I too remember the enjoyment of REAL food after being on liquids for 4 weeks.
  13. Omg. All of your posts are you getting fills and then asking if you need an unfill. Didn't you make a thread last week saying you maybe need an unfill, then you got a fill? Obviously you're too tight, unless you want to live off of liquids/sliders.
  14. Never said the poster/doctor agreed, however studies show that well..protein is protein Just like a calorie is a calorie, a carb is a carb, a fat is a fat, a sugar is a sugar, etc, etc etc. If people want to think differently, that's fine. But if that causes one to eat foods they don't like then so be it; I think that's silly. @ OP. I've taken whey isolate, concentrate, casein, and a blend of all 3. There truly is no difference. If you'd like some links/studies to prove what I am saying, feel free to PM me.
  15. Protein is protein Find one you enjoy.
  16. I didn't; it depends on your insurance/doctor. Good luck!

super low to no carb eaters

Natural PB is great; I use it all the time. And 15g per 2 tbsp? Are you subtracting Fiber from your carbs or no? 15g is extremely high; the white chocolate PB I eat has less than that. I'd recommend cheese sticks, eggs, any sort of meat, nuts, etc. I ate a lot of broccoli, fibrous veggies, etc.

super low to no carb eaters

I did a low carb diet for the first 6-7 months of my journey; that is when I lost most of my weight. I started with less than 30g per day then went to 50g per day as I exercised more. I can't say I was addicted to carbs but they were my go to food; I'd eat bowls of Pasta and bowls of rice, so I opted to cut them out, temporarily. I found a lot of good low carb/keto diet recipes so they really helped keep me sane. Try looking for some and see what you can find. There are thousands out there. Nowadays carbs are the least of my worries My life revolves around calories in vs. calories out and my carb count varies per day. Some days it's at 100g, other days 150g. I am mindful of them but low carb has gone out the window; I feel much better working out when I eat carbs. My weight loss has slowed, but I'm saying that's because I am almost at goal and I don't expect the weight to fall off as rapidly as it did. Also, why are you cutting out Peanut Butter? PB is a perfect protein/fat source when doing a low-carb diet, not sure why you think it can't be eaten. As for ketchup and BBQ sauce, low carb variations do exist, do some Googling and you'll find plenty Hopefully Elfie sees this post; she is the queen of low carbing.
  19. Pick up a book called The New Rules of Lifting for Women. Do some cardio, save yourself some money.
  20. Common. You're losing a combination of water weight, fat, muscle, etc. The scale can drop big time when your glycogen is depleted.
  21. Down 115lbs; almost at goal. Loving life!
  22. It plays a big role, yes
  23. My doctor didn't tell me to eat 1700 calories. Last time I saw him I was averaging about 1200 per day but I've started becoming more active and 1200 wasn't cutting it. Caloric needs do vary and now that I am within a normal weight range/BMI, I can follow the equations/guidelines for figuring out how many calories I need. Believe it or not to maintain my weight I'll need to eat about 1900-2000 calories.

Band Fill - Am I too tight??

Me either; I never imagined being a size 2! I never knew my frame was so small! I still have hips though thankfully lol. It's an amazing feeling Honestly, no secrets. I just had my head in the game and was ready. I believe the aggressive exercise I do really helps along with starting off with a really low carb diet. I don't low carb anymore but carbs were my addiction; nowadays I can eat them without wanting to splurge. Yes, restriction since day 1. I don't have the type of restriction most people seek. I am content eating a cup or a little more of food. Eating 1/4 cup of food seems too unhealthy for me. I keep my band loose so I can enjoy food, not completely erase something from my diet.
  25. Congrats on being banded. Happy healing!
