How many reach goal
i think a really good percentage here who have been banded for awhile are at or are very close to goal. there is a sub forum, Life At (or Near) Goal Weight - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support poke around there.. i know a few off hand that have reached goal (Chickie, JulieNYC *she may be 2-3 pounds from goal*, Jachut... and several more) good luck

Will I mess up my band
when you said you eat more than you should - what do you mean by that? do you eat more than you think you should or do you 'stuff' yourself and truly eat more than you should? big difference. just remember to eat until you are satisfied and chew your food very well. good luck

exercise questions
hi chl, you will have no problem with endurance sports once you are healed and cleared by your surgeon. you may need to take it easy for a bit, but it shouldnt really impact you that much. Water and food shouldnt be an issue once you are healed and on solids. welcome to LBT (i moved your post to the exercise thread)

Help me figure out "how you know..."
im more the first pic (maybe even bigger). my pics are here - Plastic Surgery Pictures, Videos, Photos, Pics, Before, After, Cosmetic Surgery i was 260ish when i had my tummy tuck. why then? a few key reasons... 1 - my body was TOTALLY disproportionate.. -chest - 38 -waist - 37 -HIPS (due to pannus) - 53 -thighs - 22 i was at the point where clothes just didnt fit. i had to wear a 20 stretch jeans due to my gut. they were droopy in the waist (im high waisted) 2 - intense exercising with my gut was damn near impossible... running (my new addiction to replace food) at a fast pace (over 5-5.5 MPH) was impossible due to FLAP FLAP FLAP of the gut. i tried compression garments and they were just too warm/uncomfortable. i couldnt even fit in one machine (abductor??)... gut wouldnt let me close my legs (talk about embarrassing with a trainer next to you ...) 3 - everyday life sure, getting down to play with my DD was easier after 150 pounds gone, but it was still such a pain in the ass... sex ... hmm... when i was really fat (as opposed to just fat) the gut was more filled out and less 'jiggly'... almost like it was FILLED with the fat - squishy but a firm squishy ... with the loose skin and fat, extremely 'jiggly' i would go somewhere (anywhere really) and people would finally look me in the eye (that doesnt happen when you are super morbidly obese like i was), but after a few seconds, their eyes would just wander down to my gut.. not a good experience... which led to... depression was setting in. severe depression like before i started losing the weight. i got to the point where i didnt want to go anywhere (including working out) having my tuck, even only 20 days out and sore and swollen as hell has already changed my life. yup, i know im going to have to have a revision, especially since i lowered my goal weight by 20 pounds. so what? this tuck is going to enable me to not only live my life, but work my ass off in order to get to goal quicker. plus it didnt hurt finding the perfect PS for me... no regrets ...

Motivational Quotes
great thread!! Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go. (my current fave) Some people dream of success … while others wake up and work hard at it. "Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible." Saint Francis of Assisi What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… The best way to predict the future is to create it. Don't give up what you want the most for what you want at the moment Pain is only weakness leaving the body If you are going to do it, do it and don’t waste your time. When you don’t know what you are searching for, its hard to know you’ve found it. The best excuse in the world still falls far short of getting the job done. There is no use saying “I am doing my best.” You have to succeed in doing what is necessary.

29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day
thanks marillon... my PS did say he basically 'traumatized' my body and its not too happy right now. im still quite swollen and my tum feels like ive done a billion crunches right now. this muscle ache (not pain, just almost a dull ache) has just started early this week... grrrr) im seeing my giggly thighs and horrid boobs/arms now even more too... this is going to be a really long process. but im starting to realize that there are not many perfect people in the world. i saw a co-worker today (she may weigh 140 is about 5'8" looks GREAT) and she has the back fat/side boobies going on ... i need to redefine my version of 'perfect'... i just ordered a book from Amazon: When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies: Freeing Yourself from Food and Weight Obsession... hopefully that will help. kinda TMI ... right now, my tummy is flat (as in i can go from where my ribcage used to be :wink2: stupid swelling alllll the way down to my hoo-ha in a flat line ... no bumps, no ridges, just a very slight swollen mound of my tummy...) before, it was a chore just getting there :wink2: i'll post a review of the book once i finally get it and read it.

Not losing weight
this part of the process is for healing. when you start getting fills (may take more than 1-5???) it will get easier until you hit your sweet spot, then it'll be great!!!
