  1. ohhh... soooo jealous!! San Diego is my fave US city!! best of luck to you!
  2. hi. no idea if you 'messed up' your band. the reason for the post op diet is to have the band 'settle' into place and the internal sutures to heal, not weight loss. my advice, just stick with liquids until your surgeon tells you to progress to mushies. start mushies very slowly and go with true mushies, mashed potatoes maybe, something really really mushy and build yourself up to more non-mushy mushies. chicken is very difficult for a lot of bandsters. what you are feeling sounds almost like you are 'stuck'. if its still a problem, SIP some pineapple juice, that helps some. good luck!
  3. karey, i feel ya! i was bored senseless - that's why im back at work 1/2 time. i felt like i was going crazy!! how is your mobility?
  4. good luck! hope it helps the cravings!
  5. wish i could, but my PS said NO! low carb when recovering. are you only doing shakes? no meal at night?
  6. hi. welcome! i hope you have a speedy insurance approval! the best of luck to you.
  7. marillon, sorry to hear you had such a rough time. i hope you heal quickly.
  8. the band really is great, isnt it?? with proper restriction, most "bad" days are better than a non banded normal day. congrats on 24 pounds so far!
  9. cheese makes me gassy ...
  10. yay!! good luck!
  11. welcome Beth! congrats on your weight loss so far!!
  12. well, if it's any consolation, you look fabulous!!!
  13. i am SO tight, it feels like my incision is going to pull apart. anyone else like that?
  14. Amy, so sorry your feeling down. glad you got such a great reaction from your DH though!! and dont worry about who's on or off their pain meds, everyone's journey is unique... you had a heck of a lot of work done. enjoy your vacation!
  15. yikes ... i truly thought she was kidding ... thats what i get for thinking... :smile2:
  16. the lap band is truly a great tool for weight loss. but it has to be used as that - a tool. it will help your hunger once you have reached proper restriction (may take a couple - or more - adjustments / fills). i was out a week from my desk job. could have returned in 4 days, but decided to just stay out and rest as much as possible. my suggestion, read the posts here. you will get a TON of information. they say people generally lose 50-60% of their weight they should lose, i disagree with that. there are MANY MANY on here who have shattered that. i say 100% of excess weight lost is not impossible at all. but, like i said, use the band as a tool, not a cure all. eating right and exercising must become habit. good luck on your journey and welcome to LBT.
  17. others will tell you it means something else, dont believe 'em ... :smile2:
  18. yay Karey... ya poo'd ... **grin** LOL ... that's actually a huge accomplishment! sorry your swelling and bruising. what kind of compression garment are you in? is it a binder or something else? my swelling finally started goign down when i took off my binder and started wearing my other garment (under the girls to mid-thigh). how is your pain level going? any itchies yet? hopefully you can avoid that step!! IMO, that's the worst of it. you getting around OK? in/out of bed any better? C
  19. Probably Bored.... like me...
  20. yeah, karey, im concerned about the lipo too.. nina said it was the most painful part and i've had very minimal pain there (wondering if they even did it - if it werent for the bruising i'd really wonder)... the only discomfort i have is the intense itching now. as in wake me up at 3am and itch so horribly i wanna keel over... if it weren't for the itching, i'd be about 98% back to 'normal'... been working on my walking, drove alone today (had DH with me yesterday) and went shopping. how are you feeling today Karey? amy - have a fabulous, relaxing vacation!
  21. yeah, anything male... i PB on ...
  22. i think it depends on several factors: your age how long youve been obese how much fat you have in area x (tummy, thighs, etc..) general condition of skin etc... for me it was pretty inevitable. ive been big since i was 10 and 85+% of it was in my tummy area. good luck.
  23. hi, i had an extended TT (with muscle repair) and mega lipo to flanks, back and tummy. i had my surgery on Friday 2/29 and will be returning to work 1/2 time this coming Monday 3/10. so Friday and a week off then 1/2 time the following week. not sure how its going to work out, if i cant do 1/2 time, i'll take the rest of the week off. if the 1/2 time is fine, i'll do full days... long reply to a basic question, sorry.
  24. karey - yeah, DH was not enthused with me stopping the pain meds either... guess he preferred me all doped up ... itching started very minimally Thursday (just a bit in the lipo areas) and got very VERY aggressive Friday. sucks cause i know i really shouldnt scratch cause my incision is still somewhat scabby, but grrrrrr.... itch itch itch... i think im goign to get some benedryl tonight. my bruising was quite bad and is finally starting to fade. i did not take any bromeline (sp?) or arnica.
  25. LOL Karey, i know ... i remember i felt very 'brave' putting some real clothes on... jeans and i think it lasted about 3 minutes (enuff time for me to snap a picture)... you sound like you are doing well!
