    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hey I was sleeve April 8...I am down 57 pounds...from 210...I am losing hair...lots of it...but I have a lot and try not to think about it too much. My hairdresser told me that she could see little hairs growing back...but it is weird...being a size 12 from 18 is wonderful and makes me not think about my hair much...I feel great...my weight loss is very slow now and my doctor told me it would take awhile to get to 140...my ultimate goal...for example I lost 3 pounds this past month...all in one day...and nothing else...so my body is settling into a new phase and my BMI is normal so things are slower...I'm thrilled...honnestly sometimes my head misses eating big sandwiches but soon it is replaced by joy at having some control in my life and my health back...SEAVIEW
  4. no sugar now or for the duration of your weight loss phase.... you are weak from surgery but you also need to be dieting... only protein and very low carb....under 40 grams a day.. the weakness will gradually go away and you will start eating soft foods and feel better. Hang in there. SEAVIEW

    I'm hungry!

acid can feel like hunger so I think you should take your prilosec again and see if your hunger subsides....just my two cents....SEAVIEW. no you cannot stretch your sleeve ....

    I'm hungry!

It was once suggested to me that the hunger signal might actually be acid in your stomach. Do you take an antacid...Pepcid? I had to take it for a few weeks after surgery..then stopped and my stomach didn't feel right...so i started again and feel fine...so it may be acid that's getting confused with hunger...SEAVIEW

Will craving junk food stop with sleeve?

Tiff, Thanks for your wise words....as I get closer to goal I worry about how to LIVE with this sleeve and with my still ailing brain that wants to eat when it wants to eat....I am probably going to go see someone to work on some specific food triggers which I have....which of course have not gone away with the surgery.. but yeah....thanks for your post...SEAVIEW
  9. Battling a binge eating disorder my whole life and loosing the battle at 50 with 70 extra pounds on me ...I had surgery....best decision EVER......it was hard at first...post surgery recovery...tired...adjusting to different eating...the surgery was scary before ..yes...but went great....If i wanted to I could eat anything I wanted but just in MUCH smaller portions....I have no appetite...4 months out...hunger is a different signal now...it's more like I feel weak and need to eat....you can't eat anything you want because you have to lose weight...so you are on a diet but it's easy....with excercise and comitment you WILL lose the weight...for the first time in my life I am succesful and don't feel the fear that I won't get to my goal....I cannot binge even if I want....a quarter of a bagel and cream cheese and I'm done....I mean DONE...can't fit more in...I still need to deal with the reasons why I binged..that's not gone...nor is the emotional need to eat...but I am learning to deal with that and I do other things now instead of eating to relived stress...like excercise....No question..best decision ever...two kids...husband...they are proud of me and hug me and fit their arms all the way around..and then some...doesn't get better than that....remember...NO RISK...NO REWARD.....that's life....SEAVIEW

    Weight regain with VSG?

I'm a binge eater..emotional eater...it's a lifelong habit and I am recognizing the need to deal with it...I have gotten a book about cognitive behavioral therapy for binge eaters...and I am reading it...I am trying to work on my food addiction issues... i have never really been treated for this and this is my issue with food...i 've gone to OA....therapy etc...but now i have this tool and an ability to loose weight but I have to work on my head too....so that's where i'm at...and I excercise like a madwoman which I hope will become my new addiction...even if i never gain weight again i will continue to live in torture if I don't find some peace with my food issues...Seaview

    April 2010 Sleevers!

I am doing great...working out like a beast! that is the weight loss ticket! drinking enough liquid is my challenge...but the weight loss is good. from 210 to 165 since april 8...looking at getting down to 145 or lower depending on the doctor's orders...feel wonderful this summer...wearing spaghetti straps...not feeling overheated all the time...it's still hard work to keep on keeping on with this...but I don't know how else to eat now...it's weird..I have certain foods that I eat and that's it...a bit boring really... but it's great...someone said to me the other day in life if there's no risk there's no reward..I immediately thought of my sleeve surgery...without taking that risk I would not be here...nor would any of us...yay April Sleevers...
