  1. I hope that you realize that these are two different types of surgeries. While the end result is the same. Her weight loss was probably quicker and easier. And she might have lost more than you have to now. Don't forget to say bye bye to your diet soda, and all white flour foods. Like bread, rice and Pasta. BEST OF LUCK I am behind you all the way.
  2. To: Tomuchfun: YOU were so kind to send that booklet. I printed it up and hope others will do the same. Hugs.
  3. I would up that Protein amount and definelty lower the carbs you are listing. Did you have the surgery for 50 lbs? Wow. Didn't your DR.'s office give you this information when you left the office.? You might want to purchase a book that will give you both crbs and protein amounts from food. Stay away from High carb bread. all bread and white flour foods.

    6 Months Diet

I would call the insurance company myself.. I also am sure that the surgery coodinator knows exactly what each insurance company requires. Ask them. You can avoid the 6 month diet. Pay cash like many of us had to do. Regarding "time off" for this surgery, I do not think you will need alot of time off. Best of luck..

    Post Lap Band Diet

Yes it is gas. keep walking it will help. Have you taken "gas x?" Yep you are and should stay on a liquid diet. I enjoyed Vegetable, beef and chicken broth. Jello Tea and water. Etc. YOu will do fine and I congratulate you on your surgery and your trip to a healthy life style. I would imagine that your Dr's office provided you with a week by week menu. Many times, we don't think they do so we do not look at the paper work given to us. Since you have not eatten in a while. Please becareful and don't over do the pain pills. You will become constipated. You will be very unhappy if you do. You might want to purchase stool softners. Sooner than later. At this time you have to be KIND to your area. Take your time and think about how you want to exercise and get ready to learn how to eat again the lapband way. I am hoping that you will not dwell on FOOD all the time. Think about other things as you go foward in your journey. Make friends, read books, measure your body, do not eat that bread. You might want to buy a book for your low carb and high protein program. remember to chew your food slowly. hugs.

    Such A Pretty Fat....

Hey gals. Congrats...As a peron who has had the band for almost 2.5 years. I am so happy to hear you guys talk and joke. This joking is far better than talking and talking about food all the time. You are all great. If there is anything I can do for any of you. Please feel free to ask. I really want to help and I have in the past help many to get "there". Hugs.

32 lbs is nice...but the lapband is only a tool. it will not really control your eating. You will do it. I will suggest to you what my Dr told me. Measure your food and only eat 1/2 to 1 cup at a meal. Protein first. Veg Second. NO BREAD NO RICE, NO POTATOES, NO pizza, NO CAKE, CANDY PIES. Cookies. NO CARBoNATED liquids. no white flour foods. i AM HOPING THAT OIU HAVE BEEN WRITING DOWN WHAT YOU EAT. Perhaps the same type of menu you used for the 32 lbs would be a good one to continue with. Usually a person will have about 4 fills before feeling restriction. So I doubt that you will reach the green zone. Also your exercising daily will assist in losing weight. Water drinking of 64 oz or more each day will help. We are on a low carb, high protein program. I drink water before I eat. and during the day also. I keep my carbs low. Never eat bread. Bread is very bad for the carbs. You are a lucky one. You have the Lapband and a "window of opportunity to get healthier and thinner. Think more about your exercise and future and less of food and eating. hugs.

    Newbie Alert

I was self pay also. Best $10,000.00 I ever spent. Good luck..
  14. AS my friend Cazzy said. I think you ate food too fast. At this time you should be having soups w/o cream. ((Broth) Mostly soft foods only. Slow down on the eating. As a new bandster, most of us spend most of our time thinking and thinking of food, how soon, how much. Why not think about how you are going to walk and exercise? When the Dr gives you fills it will take several of them for you to have restriction. Before that it is a good idea to measure your food. Drink water more than ever. We are not as hungry as we think. We are all used to eating eating and eating. When you have restriction, you will know. Also No bread, no pasta, no white flour. No soda. No candy no cookies. Drink more water than ever. and walk to get the gas pains out. Get a book on Carbs, Protein, Fats etc. YOU are now on a Low carb, high protein diet. You can do it. Take measurements of your body also. hugs.

    Hi From Nyc :)

I am also from Ny Brooklyn .. Mark this is not major surgery. Gastic by pass is (in a way).. Are you able to go on Lapband.com. They are the people who manufacture the "lapband" Also if you goodle words asking about Lapband surgery the information you need will be right there to read. Yes, you are a young man.. You know for your self about your eating habits, your exercise habits. You know what you need to do. I did. But I didnt do it. When I got my lapband I was 62 years old. I faced diabetes and saw my brother die from it at 62.For me it was the right thing to do. I hope that you will go to seminars and learn more about this surgery. Would you consider Weight watchers or even Nutrosystem, or Jenny Craig? Have a person to work with is better also I hope you have one~ Maybe your roommate can be that person. I wish you the best.

    I Walked Away

I know that I always bring up the carb word but I just checked on DD. My book says they range from: 8.0 carbs all the way up to: 53 carbs...It is good that you passed it up. You made the right choice.

    I Cheated!

Ok So you cheated....And I bet you feel bad. You most likely will do it again. But try not to. For the pre op, they want you to do that for your liver will be lighter to lift up. Maybe if you can see on a photo where the liver is you will get an idea and realize how imp it is. The pre op is usually 2 weeks. I didnt lose enough so I had to push the surgery back another week. After these things are over it does not matter how many weeks of pre-op you went thru. What does matter is how much you really want the results of the lapband to work for you. The Lapband will not make you skinny. It is just tool. Like a hammer. With the hammer you are the one who holds it in your hand and attempts to hit the target. With the band, and with enough fills, you have have restriction. Tht restriction is not going to stop you from eating cookes or candy or any of the other things that you should not eat. What it will do is stop you from packing the food in. With restriction, when you over eat, it will let you know. Any how. So many of us have lost quite a bit of weight. I have lost 90 lbs. I put my whole self into it, I didnt cheat and I still don't. Think of yourself in 1 year from now....thinner and healthier. What a change you will have. You can do it. I know you can.....We are all here for you and will cheer you on..Hugs. Ilene

This Lapband Tool works if you work it. Low carbs~~HIgh Protein~ Low Fat. No bread, no potatoes, no rice, no donuts, no cake, no candy no soda, no high carbs= weight loss, smaller body and a happier and healthier life. This is not a partime situation. It is a lifetime thing. Today I had a cookie. It was one from out Europe trip. JUST ONE....BEFORE~ I WOULD HAVE HAD 10 AND WANTED MORE. I STILL AM NOT PERFECT....I NEVER WILL BE. BUT I WORKED FOR WHAT I HAVE AND I AM HAPPIER. If i wanted bread or any off the above mentioned things (which I don't) I could have them **just a tiny bit*** hugs.
