How much exercise should I be aiming for during the pre-op diet?
-
I'm starting my two week pre-op Optifast diet today, and I'm hoping to get some tips on how to manage it. In particular how to manage hunger.
Thanks in advance

@@theatrejo I can completely relate to worrying about messing this opportunity up. I imagine a lot of people here feel that way. That said, I'm sure that you won't have a problem.

I just had my appointment with Charlie Mosse this morning and have the 12th of August as my date!!! He was so great! Anyone else getting sleeved in Aug? I would love to get a support group going!!!!!
Hey,
Maybe we met, I was at Dr Mosse's office that morning too, as was Chiaria. My surgery's on the 5th of August! We should definitely organise a support group Message me anytime.

Thanks everyone for replying! I really value the input. Still in two minds about what to do, I might try increasing my exercise to be better prepared for surgery instead of starting Optifast diet early.

I'm thinking about starting my pre-op diet (Optifast) a week early. Has anyone else done this? Thoughts please!

Hi everyone,
I started this journey several years ago, however as I was only a teenager at the time I made the decision that I was not ready. Now, at 23, having struggled with my weight all my life I'm definitely ready to start my new life. I'm 172cm or 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 124kg or 273lb, which actually puts me on the lower side with a BMI of 41.6 (never thought I'd say that!).
My surgery has been scheduled for the 5th of August with Dr Charles Mosse, and I would love to have some friends to share the journey with. Does anyone have their surgery booked around this time?

August 5th surgery
July 29th preregistration and meeting with doctors
July 22nd start the liquid diet
July 15th do the upper GI.
I guess I'm a Wednesday girl.
Then August 20th is post-op meeting with doctor and hopefully back to work. That's the schedule and it's really happening now. Can't believe it.
Want to eat a pizza for my last meal. Is that bad? Should I already be on the health train? Am doing well day to day, eating healthy and just regular meals - no snacking - no ice cream (my downfall). But there is this one local pizza place in town that has sentimental and gastrointestinal pull. I will eat small but I will eat pizza. :-)
It looks like we're VSG twins My surgery's also on the 5th. Best of luck to you!
PS: I don't think there is such a thing as a bad last meal Especially pizza

I saw Dr Mosse on Friday (26/6/15) and he approved me for surgery on the 5th of August. I'm from Canberra.
Hiatus Hernia Diagnosed 20 Months After Gastric Sleeve Op
in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Posted
On the 5th of August 2015 I had a sleeve gastrectomy. I was in hospital for four days (1 extra day due to an infected cannula), then to my surprise I was sent home with these horse pill sized antibiotic tablets (I wasn't supposed to be taking any tablets at that stage).
The tablets hurt to swallow, and made me throw up more than once. Eventually I took my chances and stopped taking them, but I think that the damage was done. I've had a string of problems since then.
About six months ago I started noticing that swallowing hurt, sometimes to the point where I was doubled over from chest pains. It seems to just be getting worse.
Now, I've recently been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia, which was definitely not present at the time of the sleeve op. I also have to take the highest safe dose of anti-reflux medication just to keep the reflux under control.
When I finally got in to see my surgeon he recommended that the hernia is repaired, but the more I think about it and read online about treatment options, I think it might be better to just convert the sleeve to a bypass in the hope of not needing any more operations.
Does anyone have any experience with hiatus hernias after gastric sleeve surgery? If you do I'd like to get your thoughts on this as I'm pretty much at my wit's end. Thanks in advance
