    August rush 2010!!!

My surgery was suppose to be Aug 27 but they got me in a day early and boy am I glad. It is very hard to move around the first couple of days so having my hubby home this weekend is very helpful. My surgery went very well, no complications and I hardly needed any pain killers in the hospital. I took them orally one time and decided that I'd rather suffer with some discomfort then have to swollow the mashed perkaset again. So today is day two of recovery and I feel a lot better than I did yesterday. I am able to get around better without assistance too. I had no idea that it would be like this. I can't wait to take a shower tonight and freshenup. I have not vomitted yet, not even after the surgery. I did get nauseus for a brief moment while they wheeled me to my room but they got there just in time before I vomited. So I was fortunate. I have probablly been babying myself a bit because I do not want to vomit but that is ok with me. Now, I can see how difficult it is to stay hydrated after surgery...that is what I am concentrating on now because I dehydrate easily. Tomorrow I get to have protein drinks again and yogurt, yeyey, who thought I would be happy to eat those again after that two weeke pre-op diet...LOL! #1 piece of advise to all of you getting ready for your surgery......Walk as much as you can. get out of that bed and sit and walk. It has helped tremendously with gas release and soreness. I have had to climb stairs to get in my house, then more stairs to get to my bed. I try to get up every 20 minutes for a few minutes...... Good luck to you all!
  5. Can you not just go to WHC? That is where I will go after my surgery. Dr. Finelli's office is great.
  6. I am a DC banster...well I will be after next Friday. I would like to find a group that caters to bandsters as well. Even if it is just a few of us who meet up every now and then and keep each other on track. Shawni

  8. Get the Leslie Sansone ones, they are great and easier to do then all those fancy ones. I love her videos and feel really worked out afterwards. Shawni

    August rush 2010!!!

My name is Shawni and I am getting banded on August 27th. I am currently on the 14 day pre-op diet. It sucks but I am glad I have to do it. I am on all liquids (protein shakes, yogurts, puddings, oatmeal, applesause). That is it guys, all day the same thing, that is my biggest challenge. I so want food. I have read that the reason for this particular diet is to loose risidual fat around your liver, spleen, and stomach. It makes it easier for the surgeon to maneuver and it helps your body heal faster after surgery. I have to say that this diet has made me look at food differently. I appreciate it more. I am so excited to create new recipes that are full of flavor. I went to William Sonoma and bought a few things that will help me with makes yummy Soups that are not fattening and I am so excited to try them. I recommend that you buy what you need ahead of time, be ready for it. I would like some recommendations for Protein shakes though, I am getting tired of the same one every day. I am using the 100% whey Protein powder from GNC in Cookies and cream, chocolate, very berry, and banana. I mix the first two, they taste like chocolate milk together. I also mix the 2nd two and it is like drinking a strawberry banana smoothie. Looking forward to next Friday, Shawni:smile2:
  10. You will be fine.....people have this done everyday and the rates are really low for things like that, almost nonexistent. I am having surgery on Friday so I feel ya. I am worried too but the funny thing is I am most worried about that saggy skin that could result from the surgery. Good luck, you will be so much happier in the end. BTW, I am jealous that you get one incision...wow! Shawni
  11. I use the 100% Whey Protein Powder from GNC. I mix the Cookies and cream with the chocolate, and it is really yummy. I mix it with skim milk. I am also on the pre-op diet and it sucks! I am on day 8 now and finally I am doing better about being weak. I cheated the first few days, I couldn't help it. Just a bite or two of my hubbies dinner. I was craving salt so bad. Everything on this diet is sweet so it is hard to kick that need for savory items. But today I am much better and haven't had those urges. I have lost 8lbs so far and now that I am not cheating, I hope that it will be more for this next week. Also, in regards to the drink mixes, I am afraid to buy anything I have not tried....I have tried the unjury chocolate and it is good, the strawberry one you mix with crystal light is EWWWW but they are very expensive so I stick with the GNC ones. If you find anything good let me know. Good luck on your surgery, soon we will both be thinner. Shawni:thumbup:
