    Watery Grits

I was just waiting for someone to respond now I'm going to fix me some grits for dinner. woo hoo! Thanks
  2. It's not on my list for the post op liquid phase but is it ok to have watery grits 5 days post op? Nothing sounds appetizing to me right now and I can only tolerate 4 oz of shake every 3-4 hours. I had my husband fix me some watery grits and he seems to think that I should not have it at this stage.

    March 24th is the day!

Don't feel alone. Last night I was in a lot of pain around the port site. I cried and walked around the house for 20 minutes. I was really feeling sorry for myself. Today I'm feeling better. The gas pains have eased up some. I tried to be off the pain med and switched to Tylenol but it doesn't quite cut it. It's ok to feel blue, sometimes the anesthesia affects people that way. Just post on here and I'm sure someone can always relate to whatever stage you are in. Hope you feel better soon. This is a good thing and this too shall pass.

    March 24th is the day!

I'm 4 days post of and I haven't lost any weight since the surgery. I'm sure it's due to the surgery and swelling. I have severe gas pains and I've been walking as much as possible. I went off the pain meds and just taking Tylenol and that should help with being constipated. Also taking Milk of Magnesia and Gas X. My intructions were to work up to 60 grams of protein per day. Day 1 I was on clear liquid. Day 2 -4 I haven't been able to drink much soup or shake but I've tried to say hydrated. I just can't seem to eat although I get severe hunger pangs especially in the middle of the night. I'm sure things are going to improve with time. I'm planning to go back to work on Monday March 29.
  5. Ally4 I started walking right away. Even if it was just around the house a little bit at a time while I was awake. Today is day 3 days post op and I got on the treadmill for about 5 min each time. They could not stress the walking enough during my pre op. So try walking even if it is uncomfortable. Just go slowly.

    March 24th is the day!

Hi everyone, I'm now 3 days post op. Just a little discomfort around the port site. Woke up several times last night with severe hunger pangs. The painful kind that we don't usually experince in the US. lol Gained a pound or two after surgery but I've read on these threads that that's to be expected. I'm going to get some walking in today. How is everyone doing?

    Is it really worth it?

My surgery date is March 24th. This morning I started reading some of the posts on this sections regarding the fills and I am so nervous right now. I hadn't been until this morning. After reading about problems with over-filling, food getting stuck, unable to keep food down, vomitting, removing some fill etc I have scared myself into a frenzy. Can anyone please give me some encouragement?
  8. Every doctor is different but my doctor told me around 4 weeks post op is when I will be getting my first fill.

Glad everything went well. It went by so fast and I am feeling pretty good. Still taking pain meds just in case. Sleeping a lot, taking little sips. Tomorrow I can have full liquids again for 2 weeks until my post op. Then I start on mushies. Take care and take it easy.

    Hello from Ohio

I have mild sleep apnea too and my bmi was 35. My sleep doctor said I did not need a C-Pap but I asked him to prescribe one anyway. I picked it up but never used it. I just wanted to have it for the record. Anyway my insurance approved it and now I am having surgery on March 24. Good luck to you. I know waiting was the hardest part for me.

    Crushing meds

I was told to crush my pills and put them in applesauce. I haven't tried it yet but that's what I'm planning to do.

I don't think I could do it either if my surgeon did not require it. I don't think he would cancel the surgery if he gave you the option. Don't worry once you have the band you will have no choice and you will start seeing the weight drop.

    March 24th is the day!

Ruthie I do worry about the food sticks and other things that could happen. I posted a question on a new thread..Is it really worth it? and the answers were overwhelmingly YES. Day 10 down 10 lbs. 4 more days to go.
  20. Why are some people not required to do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet?

  22. OMG Happy Mom that's less than 600 calories a day no wonder you are starving. I was told I can have between 1000-1500 calories a day. I average about 1000 and I haven't been that hungry.

    Banded on 3/11/10

Congratulations Beverly. I'm scheduled on March 24th. It's good to hear that you are not having a lot of discomfort. I will not be spending the night at the hospital and am planning to go back to work 5 days post op. Do you think that is doable?
  24. Happy Mom, are you getting enough protein with your shakes? I find that I am not very hungry which really is surprising. But I have 1 cup of soy milk with my protein shake which adds more protein. Also I have creamed soups in between the three shakes. If I get lightheaded I drink 1 cup of Gatorade.
