    Use It To Lose It

Because I have 2 different kinds of arthritis, my joints give me Hell, fat or thin! I found that using a pair of Nordic Walking Poles allows me to walk further and faster , so i use them every day. They live in my car, and when I go somewhere I can use them, out they come. I also like to swim and walk lengths in my local pools which are thermally heated, but I prefer the water really hot because of my joint issues, so I am waiting for the winter season to start, sometime next month. On Monday I begin a weight lifting regime at the gym.I really need that to begin to firm up the flabby parts of me that are now even flabbier- yikes! Maybe the most consistent exercise I do is Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home series of dvds. They are fabulous and I like to do 3 miles a day if I can, either in front of my computer or in the lounge in front of the tv. I know when I am not seeing any movement on the scales, that I need to step up the exercise...

Way to go gal! I have a new bike in the garage also... but not enough nerve to ride it! hips and knees hurt too much now, to risk falling off! But maybe a bit further down the line...who knows? But..as for you..ENJOY!

Off The mushies ... Yeah !!!

Hi Marion....I think we BOTH deserve a pat on the back for our weight loss! Doesn't it seem strange to see that needle coming DOWN?I am so used to it going up.... Spoke with the surgeon today, he rang me in response to an email I sent yesterday, and he is very perplexed.Has told me to take Mylanta or Losec and record the result each time to help him pin point what is wrong. He is making extra time for me next Tuesday to try and solve this issue- he has never come across it before. DUH, just my usual luck to be the one weird one.He says it should not happen with the hiatal repair done at the same time...oh well.. we will find out next week I guess.Thank you for your encouragement. (As you see, I have changed my ticker info, but I still don't know HOW... each time I have to set it all up once again....being a bear of very little brain, I guess that's about par for the course, eh.)

Off The mushies ... Yeah !!!

You sure "sound" happy enough! LOL. You go gal!I bet it is good to taste all those different tastes in one meal! Instead of a conglomeration of everything. I am having problems with the mushies still...or with anything other than liquids. Thank goodness there's only a week to go until I see the surgeon again........
  9. Thank you both for your input. I guess I will stay away from eggs for now.As for the other stuff, maybe I need to only mush 1-2 ingredients together, like you do, Marion. Maybe chicken and mashed potato to start, yes, I'll try that. Not going to stress about it though,- I am due to return on 23rd for my weigh in and check up, I'll just do liquids if I have to, until then. It is a 4 hour trip to visit the surgeon's rooms, so I will just hang in there- but I WILL try just 1-2 ingredients. Thanks again.
  10. .....I can't eat 'em. I scrambled an egg this morning, very sloppy as advised...2 tablespoons, that was it. I tried a mince meat puree yesterday..same thing. I haven't had a fill yet, so it isn't restriction.Liquids? Soups? Shakes? no problemo. Anyone else have this issue, and if so, how did YOU deal with it?

    60 with alot of questions

Kia Ora, Christa! I live in New Zealand, so a lot of "stuff" is different between our 2 countries' medical systems. My insurance turned me down too, even tho I was classified morbidly obese with a BMI of 55...and have several life threatening illnesses. So I raised a loan against my home and went ahead privately. I had a hiatus hernia which the surgeon repaired at the same time as the lap band insertion.I haven't had reflux since! And I have lost 18kg ...and my BMI is down also...It has only been 3 weeks since my surgery and already I am walking again!! My advice is, FIND a way to get the surgery done- you won't regret it. :smile2:

    Hello from downunder!

Morena Sandy! Thank you for your suggestions. I shall certainly try them out. I cheated last night and made up a batch of minced meat and vegetables which I then whizzed up into a puree and froze in half cup pots. I had one for dinner. I didn't like it...arghhhhhhhh...I had no trouble with it, no pain , no discomfort, but somehow I didn't feel as full as I do with the liquids- weird eh. I think maybe I will wait the week out and try again, this time with poached or scrambled eggs. :smile2:

    Hello from downunder!

Morena Narion! I have uploaded a pic, changed my gender status, added all my details and submitted THREE times. It appears fine but as soon as I return to the forum as such, nothing has changed. I am quite used to filling out profiles etc as I am active in many online forums, but I can't make any headway with this one. And still no word from Admin.....:smile2:
