    messed up band surgery

I am so sorry you've had to deal with all of this pain & suffering!! I really hope you're able to recover soon and wish you luck on your future weight loss efforts.
  2. me too! 2 pounds up. I don't think it's from over-eating thoug...just from EATING period. we went so long without food in our intestines, they're starting to fill back up. GRRRRRRR.....

It is discouraging. I'm walking about 3 1/2 miles a night now, so I hope to see a decline on the scale soon. If not, I'll just have to have faith that when I get my fill it will start to happen.

First pair of size 14 jeans in 22 years!! WHOO HOO!!!

I'm thrilled for you! The difference is amazing! Way to go!
  5. Today is week 3 P/O and I'm down 11 pounds. Dr. seemed to be happy with that, even if I'm not.
  6. Honestly, I'm discouraged, which is either a) totally normal 3 weeks post-op or B) bad news since I'm only 3 weeks p-o. I can't decide.

Today is 3 weeks post-op, and so I get to start mushies, but I started last night. I had Thai. Green curry sauce on rice. Today I was up 2 POUNDS! There's NO WAY I had 2 pounds of food last night. I had some broth soup before my rice & so didn't have much rice (about 1 cup) b/c I was so full!

Please tell me that a weight GAIN is normal once you start eating food again?

I went to Dr. S on 3/15 and he said all looks great. I felt kind of disconnected from him, b/c he didn't really hear my concerns, made me feel that they weren't legitimate. Even though I had only been drinking about 500 - 600 cals/day, I had only lost 11 pnds. He said, "Don't expect to see this kind of rapid wl in the future." Rapid??

He said that on 5/13, my 6 week P-o, he'll determine IF I need a fill. So, I'm a little down today.

But your recent photos are still inspiring!!

  7. Yay for real food! Have you noticed that since you're able to eat again you had a slight gain in the first few days? I'm so worried that after eating food I'll gain back all of the water weight I lost from starving myself!

  8. Hello fellow banders! I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow...and getting discouraged because I haven't seen the scale moving in the right direction. Now, I had the HUGE and QUICK weight loss of 10 pounds about 2 weeks post op...but nothing lately. I asked my Dr if this weight loss was typical, and he said, "This is the most rapid weight loss you will see, so don't get used to it." It kind of bummed me out. If this is the most weight I'll lose in a month EVER, then why do I see so many of you inspirational banders losing so well? I wonder what (if anything) I'm doing wrong? I'm still on liquids...get to start my 2 weeks of mushies tomorrow...and then have 1 week on solids before revisiting my Dr. to see if I'm ready for a fill. So....my question to you is... How long was it POST OP before you started losing weight at a steady pace? Thanks!!
  9. Thanks JoJO for that reality check. I guess I'm just desperate to see the effects, I'm not really taking into consideration that in 6 months, I COULD be 40 pounds lighter, which is a lot of weight. It will come...it will come... I have to keep reminding myself...It's only been 3 weeks!

    March 2010

    Amazing! Great job!
  12. I am very much looking forward to Wednesday when I can eat some scrambled eggs & mashed potatoes, even though my Dr. said he doesn't like the potatoes b/c they turn into fat. I'm already looking at other "mushies" that I can have!! I could never be a vegetarian; I miss MEAT!

My surgery went very well. I had a breast reduction in 3/02 and that was my only other surgery, and a lot more extensive, so this one was a breeze! I took 3 days off of work and then was back! I felt "normal" after about 10 days with regard to the gas & bloating, and right about now my appetite is returning which is BAD!

I went for my post-op on Thursday, and Dr. S. said to come back May 13 to see if after a week of REGULAR eating (normal foods w/ strict measuring) I'll need a fill or NOT. It kind of made me mad b/c I WANT a fill, so if he decides I don't need one...well, it ain't gunna be pretty!

How are you doing with the liquidy diet? Have you lost weight? Are you happy with your progress so far?

  13. I'm day 9 post op and have lost 9 pounds so far. ** Whoot Whoot ** Of course, I'm on liquids only, so I guess initial rapid weight loss is to be expected...so, my question is: How much did YOU lose during you post op diet before your first fill, and did you stall? I lost all 9 pounds by day 5, and since then have remianed the same. I'm not complaining, 9 pounds is 9 pounds, but I think I got over excited seeing suce a rapid loss and now nothing...even though I know it's normal. I am on 3 weeks liquids & 2 weeks mushies. Thanks!!
  14. Hey Cindy,

I saw that you had to have a "readjustment" surgery about 3 months in. What happened?
