    help

You should keep track of what you're eating. It is possible that you're experiencing a mild form of dumping syndrome like people with the bypass tend to experience. Track it for a few days maybe something will tip you off. (my trigger is cream if its too heavy sometimes.) good luck and feel better!

    Odd and possibly stupid question

heat wave makes my band incredibly tight. I live in NJ and we've had 100 degree days here for the past month.. aka I haven't eaten a real meal in about that long. most days I end up revisiting what i' ve eaten. ugh. i can't wait for winter.

    is this pain normal??

It's most likely just gas. It builds under/ around your rib cage and into your stomach. Mine was in my chest like someone was sitting on me and my sister was in her shoulder. I wouldn't freak out yet. If it gets worse, lasts a few more days or changes, have it checked...but don't freak out ...I'd venture to say its just gas pains

    A few Questions

Hey there, I didn't stay in the hopsital. I went in around 8am and was home by 7pm ( I had to stay a little longer because i was having some complications.) My surgery was 1.27.10. I drink no less than 1 medium sized iced mocha latte (with expresso) in it a day. and whipped cream. from DD. I have had no issue with it. I can't eat much, nor do I want to, so those 500 calories are WELL worth it. AND it makes me full so I don't want to eat. (even less then normal.) plus i get my sweet fix, and a ton of liquids in. but talk to your doctor. hope this helps you.

12 Days Post, Ok to mow my yard?

I shoveled and pushed a car that was stuck in the snow 7 days post op.... when you're stuck in a Blizzard you do what you gotta do. (and had no issues surrounding it.) check with your doc!

I had the same thing. My doctor's solution..he told ME to pull it out with a tweezer. So my sister did. Issue gone.

    Going CRazzzzyyy

I pureed a meatball with red sauce during this stage. And it was amazing. Also ricotta cheese got me through... You're probably sick of eggs, but you can always change them up by pureeing other things and adding them (tomatoes, peppers etc) I would cook my eggs with GIANT pieces of green pepper..then pick out hte pepper before eating. I assume you could do this with basically anything to give it flavor.
  8. I'm glad that I'm not the only one! I'm 2 months post op and I had to buy new undies. They are THREE sizes smaller than my old ones. and i go for my first fill tomorrow. eep.
  9. after glow -watermelon flavor...buy it at GNC...my boss uses it, i just tried it OMG heaven. It tastes like a watermelon air head. or watermelon rita's ice:thumbup:

    Anyone pissed off??

i was just thinking the same thing. I do ice tea too. I literally drank about 100oz of ice tea today (to the point where I now can throw up because I'm so full of liquid) but... I'm not hungry. (and I'm trying to flush a cold). I find that I feel a TON better when I drink alot too...I know it's hard to drink this much (most days I'm lucky to get down 16-20oz) but when I do its amazing! Hope this helps!

    Food, Subs??

I get a hoagie :-P ...and open it up. Than i eat the inside out of it, including a LITTLE (read little little little LITTLE!!!) bit of the inside of the bread. This takes away the craving. I can do toast though with no issue. I actually can do about 1/4-1/2 a bagel with butter or cream cheese also. But you have to eat so slow it's boring. (if you're craving it it's worth it though)... the hoagie turned salad is not so bad either...this is what I do if I really want one! Good luck!

    cocktails??

I waited til I was just over a month out. I had two drinks and was fine. This week I'm seven weeks out, and on Saturday I had three shots. I felt them right away but within a few hours I was fine. I didn't get the hungries, but that's just me personally (i'm not really hungry to begin with so.) I did notice that my stomach gurgled. A lot. It was annoying. My nutristionist said the best thing to go for is vodka (something with less calories/sugar) in moderation. She believes (and she's usually really strict with things) that the point of the band is to live healthy. NOT withhold all the fun stuff about living. That being said, ask the docs. That's what they are therefore. Just be careful. You probably should have a dd (even if you just drink one or two) only because you do not know how your body is going to react now. Good luck!
  13. I'm glad to see other people banded around the same time as me. I was starting to worry I was the only one!!

    Has anyone had liqour yet?

I spoke my to my nut about this just yesterday lol. She said that the point of living is to enjoy it. Being skinny isn't the end all and that if you're not happy living life what's the point? That being said, She said have at it with the booze, just keep it in moderation and counter act with the excersise. Her suggestion was stay away from the beer and light on the sugar. Hard liquour (like vodka) is the best IF you are going to drink. (She specifically said vodka) I drank about 1/5 of a cup of orange juice and peach schnapps the other day. it was ok didnt really want to finish it. And tonight, a margarita is in order! (i'm 5 weeks out)... I'll let ya know how i make out! Best of luck!

    80 grams of protein!!

Are you taking Biotin? I take it daily and haven't had any issues. (my hair is not falling out any more than it was a year ago (about a hundred strands a day which my hair dresser says is normal)... hope this helps.

    Chiropractor

How funny you posted this because I just had this convo with my doc yesterday. He said the chiro can't shift the band or hurt it in anyway. He advised that I tell him about my surgery and where my port is to avoid discomfort to me if it puts pressure near it. Hope this helps! Let me know how you make out! Alicia
  17. I was banded 1/27/10. Down 16lbs. I lost about 25lbs in the first two weeks from liquids but when you reintroduce solids you tend to gain back some of that and than relose it. I went for my month appointment today and I have nothing in my band and didn't get a fill because I still have restriction. (As i type this I am trying to pass down some tuna without seeing it again. ugh.) good luck!

    Wierd/Chinese Food/Water "help"

I'm five weeks out and I still have restriction with no fill. (It's not four hours, more like 2.5-3.5 depending on the food). You may still be swollen, it took me a good two weeks before I could eat more than 2oz at a time. I went to the chinese place during my mushy stage. I did egg drop soup, the inside of crab ragoons and dumplings (dumplings were a little hard to go down) and jellos etc. The one thing I would stay away from, unless you put something like butter or sauce on it, is the roasted potatoes. I knew looking at them they would be too dry, but hungry as I was (and limited to what i could eat) I had one. It didn't get "stuck" persay...but it was uncomfortable and I couldn't eat anything after that. So be careful. I also was able to eat lo mein noodles. hope this helps! Alicia

    do u?

some doctors say this is actually a myth. Exactly how can somthing erode something it doesn't touch? soda goes inside your stomach..band sits on the outside....water doesn't run in side your house when it rains (unless y ou've sprung a leak!) so this doesn't even make sense. My sister's been banded a year. She drinks FOUNTAIN SODA ONLY...and has no issues with it. (She's also dropped close to 100lbs so it hasn't hurt her weight loss any.) I'm a month out, I drank two sips from her drink and it went down fine. A little more pressure than I'm used to (gas like) but over all fine. I think it depends on the person and what their body will tolerate.
  20. Do flintstones complete. my nurt. recommended them.. she said take one.. but i'm fatter than most 10 years so i take two!

My Husband Is Driving me Nuts!

I found this challenging especially because everyone in the house was eating around me and I was STARVING. My sister and I are both banded (she's a year out) and when someone eats something we can't... if we really want it.. we chew it and than well, spit it out. Some foods we can't eat (steak) but its REALLY good for us...so chew chew chew and than spit out the muss...you get the taste, curbs the craving and no calories... and no PB! Maybe you could try that.

    When food choices are limited

When I was in pureed stage, hamburger was one of the choices...anything that could basically become mush... so don't worry too much!
