    November Bandsters!

Connie Sue ...i have been reading here! WOW! I know how you feel. I agree with Tom, do not back down. He can go tothe prom his Senior year. My son is getting married in a couple of weeks at age 25... I was a bit of a disciplinarian...in a very positive way...but never backed down. I also did alot of positive reinforcement since he was a toddler. It worked! He is great! 17 is a tough age because they think they are adult... but we know better than that. Good luck it will be fne!

Just make sure you are healthy...vitamins, B's especially and Vit C at least 1000 mg a day, Biotin for the hair and plenty of protein and green veggies. water... SLEEP???? And do not take too many prescription meds especially if they are for the same thing!!! Not a good thing. If doing all of the above and no change then see your doc and get some boold tests and make sure everything is OK. Also start wearing brighter colors to bring out the new you! Let me know how you do.

Tom... it seems you have lots on your plate...sometimes stress can make you tight. see if you can get calcium/magnesium chewable vitamins...they help relax you naturally and they relax tight muscles, including the ones around the esophagus. Since you have been PB'ng you might rest on warm liquids for a couple of days. I cook spinach and chicken in broth and then blend it...it goes down nicely and you are getting nutrition. try to stick to warm liquids for a couple of days. Due to jet lag I have been tight since yesterday...I think I will make that soup today. glad to see your sense of humor is still there :heh:

Below is info from a medical journal. Bandsters need to supplement Biotin especially the first months due to the liquid protein diets we are on post-op which deprive us of Biotin or if we are not eating enough. The first symptoms to develop in biotin deficiency are associated with the skin and hair. Symptoms develop within 3-5 weeks of the onset of deficient biotin intake. The most common cutaneous findings are the following: Dry skin Seborrheic dermatitis Fungal infections Rashes including erythematous periorofacial macular rash Fine and brittle hair Hair loss or total alopecia Approximately 1-2 weeks later, neurologic symptoms begin to develop. The most common neurologic findings are the following: Mild depression, which may progress to profound lassitude and, eventually, to somnolence Changes in mental status Generalized muscular pains (myalgias) Hyperesthesias and paresthesias Intestinal tract symptoms also develop and most commonly include the following: Nausea, occasionally severe Vomiting Anorexia Physical: Typically, individuals with biotin deficiency are healthy before the onset of the biotin-deficient state. Growth and stature are normal. Regardless of the etiology of biotin deficiency, clinical manifestations are essentially the same in all patients; however, the rate of symptom development and sequence in which symptoms appear can differ remarkably. Physical manifestations are confined to the skin and hair, central and peripheral nervous systems, and intestinal tract. Skin and hair: The first signs to develop in biotin deficiency are associated with the skin and hair. Dry skin is a consistent finding and is often associated with seborrheic dermatitis, which can be severe. The skin lesions provide an ideal environment for fungal infections that may be resistant to treatment until the biotin-deficient state is reversed. An erythematous periorofacial macular rash is a frequent finding. The hair quickly becomes fine and brittle, and total alopecia often develops. Central and peripheral nervous systems: The neurologic signs are multiple and nonspecific. They include mild depression, which may progress to profound lassitude, and eventually, somnolence. Occasionally, changes in mental status are observed. Generalized muscular pains (myalgias), hyperesthesias, and paresthesias are frequent findings that occasionally become disabling. Intestinal tract: Nausea, occasionally severe, is an occasional finding, as is anorexia. These problems are rarely severe enough to significantly interfere with the adequate oral intake of food. Causes: Causes of biotin deficiency include the following: Eating raw egg whites: Eating raw egg whites is commonly believed to be the only way to develop biotin deficiency. Although this is not true, consuming raw egg whites is a relatively certain (and quick) way to develop biotin deficiency. Total parenteral nutrition without biotin supplementation or similar a protein shake diet: Several cases of biotin deficiency have been reported in patients receiving prolonged total parenteral nutrition (TPN) therapy without added biotin. Therefore, administration of biotin at the recommended daily dose to any patient receiving TPN is strongly recommended, especially if TPN is expected to last more than 1 week. Today, all hospital pharmacies include biotin in TPN preparations. Anticonvulsant therapy: Prolonged use of certain drugs, especially phenytoin, primidone, and carbamazepine, may lead to biotin deficiency; however, valproic acid therapy does not cause this condition. Some anticonvulsants inhibit biotin transport across the intestinal mucosa. Evidence suggests that these anticonvulsants accelerate biotin catabolism. Therefore, supplemental biotin, in addition to the usual minimum daily requirements, has been suggested for patients who are treated with anticonvulsants that have been linked to biotin deficiency. Prolonged oral antibiotic therapy: Prolonged use of oral antibiotics has been associated with biotin deficiency. Alterations in the intestinal flora caused by the prolonged administration of antibiotics are presumed to be the basis for biotin deficiency.

    November Bandsters!

Well besides the sublinguals proper intake of enough nutrients mostly protein helps. It is B12, B6 and Folic acid all combined in a sublingual and sold at most high quality health food stores. GNC is Not really a health food store by the way... high prices low quality. If you someone who lives near a Trader Joe's or whole foods that can mail you some if you are not near one then it is good...they are small bottles since the pills are so tiny. Do not swallo them...the vits. are absorbed under the tongue going directly into the blood stream. In the stomach only a small amount is absorbed.

You ALL are doing great!! We are all different! Betsy Jane...yes watchig what you eat in addition to the band's built in portion control does help. Sugar should not be a part of our eating and other high glycemic foods as our body reacts differently even if calories are not high. The occasional treat is fine ocf course. Watch fats...high in calories, but we do need a moderate amount of thr good fats for our health. Lean meats and veggies and some fruit and water.... some people need to watch dairy.

    November Bandsters!

MArni, He is feeling insecure... for a while you might have to be extra doting and keep telling him you love HIM!!!! Also gently let him know you would feel even closer to him if he gave you positive feedback. By the way...is he overweight? Could he be feeling like he needs to do something to improve himself? Maybe you two could go take walks together.

Hi All! Just wanted to let you know...another bandster board asked me to host a thread called Ask Dr. Trumbauer...it is fun going to both boards, and some of the same people are there also as we find here. It is band2gether.net. I ahve also been doing a commitment thread there and it has been helpful, although latelt it has been more difficult. Usually I come to my November Bandsters first!!! I luv you guys!!:clap2:

    November Bandsters!

BEtsyJane...they also are probably vitamin deficient and probably struggled with losing their hair!! Inside they might not be very healthy... so it is best higher calorie and a bit slower...but with hair and firmer skin...PLUS good health!!! Also their bodies probably now gain weight easier due to a lower metabolism sparked by eating at starvation levels for so long. :faint:

    The Bean....another gimmick?

I bought the BEan and I like it!! I can sit on it while I watch TV and do some exercise and not feel like I am doing much but rocking!! Of course there are real exercises they show you how to do, but even the rocking was good for my lower abs...I could feel them working!! I also turn it over and stretch my back muscles and it feels soooo good!:clap2:
