    band to sleeve

I could of write this exact post!! Sleeved 3/13, post op appt tomorrow, feeling great, not hungry but not getting all my protein in. Yay for us!! My focus is healing and keeping hydrated. I will increase protein as I can. We are only 5 days out. Can't wait to see doc tomorrow.

    No more vomiting?

Thanks for being so honest. I think my success with the band was due to the same reason. I'm 4 days post-op now and I'm nervous yet excited about this new journey.
  3. I throw-up a lot!! Almost daily. So with the sleeve is there really no more vomiting? My surgery is scheduled for this Thursday 3/13/14. My band is loose and I still throw up!! I can't wait to have this thing out!!

    Liquid diet

Yes it's hard but doable. I was also allowed a list of vegetables. Are you allowed anything you can chew? That's what helps.

    March Sleevers!

I'm also scheduled for 3/13. The countdown is on. I'm so excited!!
  7. Anybody out there start under 200 before going from band to sleeve? How much weight have you lost? I'm 5'2' and currently weigh 185. My lowest with the band was 142. I gained weight during my last pregnancy and loosened band and haven't lost it. I haven't had any "major" problems with the band but I refuse to throw up anymore which is something I did several times a day when my band is filled. My insurance is going to cover the revision after a 6 month diet. My surgery date is 7/24/14. I just want to here from others that started with "lower" weights and had success.

    Finally seeing results

You look great!! You're so handsome.
  9. I currently have the band and my insurance will cover a revision to sleeve after a 6 MONTH DIET. I'm 5'1 and 188lbs BMI 35.5 if I actually follow the diet and lose weight could the insurance say my BMI is too low? Or does it not matter since it's a revision? I'll ask at my next appt but wondering if anyone has experience.
  10. I will call my insurance company tomorrow I have Coastwise PPO thru Blue Shield. What's BCBS?

    Surgery yesterday

That's great! :tongue2: Luckily I was covered by insurance but if I wasn't I would have chosen Dr. Ortiz also. I still like going to his site and looking at blogs.

    Am I too full?

I'm going through the same thing. I got another fill this past Thursday and I'm trying to wait it out. I've been able to drink Water, Protein shakes, and very little Soup so I guess it's ok for now. When I've tried other things I've vomitted. I'll be waiting to hear others responses.
  14. I had surgery on Saturday and went back to work on Tuesday. Assuming all goes well you should be fine.

    Days Off

  16. I'm 5'1" too so I know exactly what you mean for some reason 20 lbs. really shows on our short selves. I'm only down 10 lbs and I can tell alot. I'm now in size 14 pants!!!!! Woot Woot! I can't wait to lose 20 then 30, etc. Congrats!

    Tooting my own horn

Wow! Congrats! You'll be at your goal sooner rather than later! I can't wait to be where you're at. :w00t:
  19. Hi just wanted to say Hello to a fellow teacher! I teach first grade, what about you? I was just banded on 2/13/10, I chose this day because of President's Day. I had surgery on Saturday and went back to work on Tuesday and I was fine. At times during the first week I would be sore but nothing too bad, I would just rest in my car during recess and lunch. I have no advice about sticking to a plan till summer, sorry. I could never stick to anything for more than a few weeks that's why I needed the band but since being banded I'm doing ok. Can you do it during Spring Break? Or is that in March for you?
  20. I get my first fill at 5 weeks post-op.
  21. How did you get the glue off? Are we supposed to try and remove it? I had my post-op appt yesterday and the doc said I can now wash with soap and water but that doesn't remove it. Will it enventually come off or should I use something? Or do I let it be, I don't want glue on my tummy for weeks or months!
  22. Thanks everybody I will just let them be until they start to come off on it's own.
  23. So you don't have a scheduled post-op appt? Usually you go back in a week or so. I had my post-op yesterday and although it felt like a waste of time because like you I'm doing great, I know it was just part of the process. My surgeon also called the day of surgery but I didn't answer and he left a message.
  24. My gas pains lasted only 2 days!
  25. My surgery was this past Saturday and I went back to work on Tuesday, yesterday. I felt fine yesterday I took a nap as soon as I got home. Today I feel even better so I think 4 days off would have been perfect.
