    Nsv!!

This is an NSV only someone who has a couple hundred lbs to lose could appreciate: I was in my office meeting with a new client today. The client was also a large-sized female. She went to sit in a chair in my office that had arms on it, and she could not fit into it. I could completely empathaze with her, because that has happened to me on many occasions. So, I quickly got her another chair with no arms so she could be more comfortable. After she left, I sat down in the chair with arms, and I fit in it very comfortably. For me, this is a big deal, because for the longest time I had to think before I sat in a strange chair, trying to figure out if I would fit. Now, I know that I can. Hopefully there are similar revelations to come as I lose more weight. I am so glad I got the band!! :frown:

    4th of July Challenge!

I'm actually up 1.8 lbs. I've been jogging 12 miles a week for the past few weeks (after finishing the C25K program), and I've definitely put on some muscle, but the weight gain makes me crazy! Went shopping yesterday, and I've gone down two dress sizes, so I am more toned at least. But the scale needs to start going in the other direction again!! I think I might be approaching a plateau, because I've kept my calorie intake under 800 cals per day. Maybe I shoud add a couple hundred calories of protein and see what happens...

    Exercise IS the key!!! :)

Exercise makes all the difference, IMO. I finished the C25K in late May, and since I started it, my weight loss has been pretty consistent. My diet has been consistent also, but I do still go out with friends and go to restaurants on occasion. Exercise also relieves stress and helps clear the mind.

    Down 3.6 this week.

    Need to get jump started

My advice would be to journal your food intake, and make sure you eat plenty of protein (at least 60 grams). Drink lots of water. Cardio exercise burns lots of calories. Congrats on maintaining your weight during the unfill!

    So happy to be "overweight!"

Congrats!!! Keep up the good work!

what do you do for exercise?

I started the "Couch to 5K" program in late March, and I have been jogging ever since. I jog between 3-4 miles, four days a week. I have a 5K race coming up this Saturday, and I'm totally excited! Here's the link to the website: Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan
  8. I got on the scale this morning, and I have 99.4 to lose before I reach my goal!! I've lost almost 90 lbs so far, and I feel awesome. I go jogging 3-4 days a week, and I can ride my mountain bike again. I have registered for several 5K races this summer. I feel like a totally new person, and I'm only half way done. The Lap-Band is the best thing I've done for myself in a long time! For those of you just starting out, don't lose hope, just keep on plugging away!

    4th of July Challenge!

Down 4.2 lbs this week. I'm weighing in two days early, because I'm going out of town for the Holiday weekend, and won't have access to a scale. Have a great Memorial Day, everyone! God Bless our troops!
  10. How many grams of Protein are you getting in a day? If you aren't journaling right now, I would start journaling just to get a handle on what your daily food intake is on paper. Also, make sure you are drinking enough Water. Exercise is really important, too. even 30 minutes 3-4 times a week can make a big difference. Good luck!
  11. For me, restriction is when I can eat about a cup of food and feel satisfied for 4-5 hours. You should be able to drink water freely. There is usually some inflammation a few days after a fill, which might cause some gurgling. But if that feeling of super tightness persists, you might need a slight unfill.
  12. I have gotten rid of: *Clothes that were 3 sizes larger; *The feeling that trying to lose weight was futile; *Several hundred pounds of "friends" who were unsupportive; *The thought that running a 5K race was impossible (I'm running several this summer); *The fear that getting Type 2 Diabetes was inevitable for me.
  13. It sounds to me like your friend is jealous. And if she's jealous just a few weeks after your surgery, just think how bad it will get when you start dropping pounds and getting compliments from everyone. Just nip this in the bud already. If she's not with you, then she's against you. In my own life, I have cut ties with friends who were negative, or made snide remarks. I just don't need that kind of energy in my life. If she comes around and acts like a true friend, then great. But if she keeps up the negativity, then maybe it's best to part ways.
  14. Way to go!! Spa treatment is definitely at the top of the list. If your clothes are getting baggy, then a small shopping excursion may be in order. :tongue2:

    WHOA!! Just Noticed

    Super milestone!!! Congrats! :tongue2:
  16. The scale isn't always the best indicator of how you are doing. There have been weeks where my weight loss was slow, but I noticed a big difference in how my clothes fit. If you are exercising a lot, then you could be putting on muscle, which weighs more than fat. I get on the scale every morning, too. But I just push the number out of my head and get on with the rest of my day. My official weigh in day is Monday, and that's the only one I pay any real attention to.

    4th of July Challenge!

Down 1.8 this week. I added an extra workout day during the week. I'm hoping to put on some muscle, because muscle burns more calories. :tongue2:
  18. Congrats! I look forward to joining you in Twoterville soon!

    First milestone!!!!

Way to go!!! It's good to hear some positive news on this board for a change. You are now in a weight loss groove, and nobody can stop you! :w00t:
  20. I like the Jay Robb whey protein powders. They taste pretty good mixed with almond or soy milk.

Help! My pants are too big!

I just went shopping for pants last weekend. for casual pants and shorts, I bought things with drawstrings. That way, you can adjust the waist more easily. For dress pants, you just have to bite the bullet and buy new ones. I bought two pairs of slacks. Hopefully, I can give them to Goodwill in a few months, along with the rest of my old clothes. It's a great feeling, isn't it??
  24. My calorie intake ranges betwen 850 and 1000 most days. If I go out to eat, it can go as high a 1100 calories. So far, I am losing consistently. I have increased my physical activity to build muscle and keep my body burning calories at a decent rate. Make sure you take a multi-Vitamin to help meet your nutritional needs.
