Ya i am doing something else too. Because my date has been moved so much, i ended up on the liquid diet for almost 3 weeks. (i lost 14 lbs on it). then i went to my pre op appt when my surgeon changed the date the final time and he said that he doesnt want me on the liquid for THAT long, so he just told me to eat low cal, fat, carb diet and no sugar. like i can drink the protein drinks but i can also eat egg, lean meats, grilled chicken, and salads without dressing. i have done pretty well with it. i have only lost like 2 lbs in a week with it, so i am going to try to fast for the last two days to lose another 5lbs. hopefully! im sooo excited! i am going to get blood work tomorrow, then im on my way =]

i use "myFitnessPal." it does about the same thing i guess. i like that you can type in what youve eaten and it lets you search for what exactly you ate. then it remembers it for other days or meals.

maybe you are lactose intolerant? which means the milk in the shake is whats giving you the diarhea. i am lactose intolerant, so i mix my own Protein shakes with lactose free milk. (mootopia is lactose free and it has extra protein in it). I mix it with "carnation breakfast" mixes. -

I am having my surgery Friday march 12. This will be the friday before my spring break. My family wants to go to dallas for spring break. (That is 8 hours away). Would I be able to travel that soon after my surgery. I would think as long as we stop and walk around to avoid blood clots, i should be okay right? I am going to ask my surgeon to be sure, but i just want to know your experiences. thanks.

Thats true, my moms friend got banded in Mexico. Good to know. Lol when you live in CC you'd rather not be here during spring break. It's crazy here. Plus I'm visiting family, I love Dallas! -

We would probably wait a couple days. Ya I'm not really thinking about how I'd feel. = we have family up there and my grandpa is sick so that's why we are visiting, so the most we would do would be driving from hotel to house to nursing home. I guess we will wait and see how I feel. I usually sleep the whole way there so if I can sleep comfortably I'll be good. Thanks!! -
Soda? Drinking while eating?

Ali is absolutely correct. I am still in my two weeks pre op and once in a while drinking a diet dr pepper, because it fills me up and stops my stomach from growling. but i know i can give it up (iv done it before) and HAVE to now . I have become a fan of decaffeinated ice tea sweetened with splenda. btw, my dietician who has the band said that if she is really craving a coke, she will open it early and leave it out until it is flat, then drinks it. I dont like flat soda, so that wont be good for me though. good luck! -
i went to my pre op appointment tuesday and my surgeon drew, on my tummy, where the incisions will be and then where the port will be. He then said something about more than likely using the smaller port on me. so, just curious, why are there two sizes? and how does the dr determine which size is right? thanks!

so today...my mom called the doctor's office to ask a question about my surgery. They said they will have the doctor call her back. Well he just called back, answered my question... then mentioned that HE is having surgery on his ARM this wednesday! which means that his recovery will go right through my surgery date. So mine will probably be postponed to the following week. IM SO MAD! now i have to do this diet an extra week, and its not even for sure when it will happen. I almost dont care about not eating since ill just lose more weight, but i was just so happy to have it done! now im not even going to be a "feb's funky bandit" =[

I am on day 4. I am shocked that it hasn't been that bad. For some reason I haven't been very hungry. I can't even force down all 5 carnation drinks. I can barely drink 3. And they taste pretty good. I like the popcicles a lot. If I actually feel a little hungry, I eat chicken Soup broth. I think I am very lucky because I know a lot of people have a hard time with this. Maybe it's because I have done a 40 day fast a couple years ago. I also have my parents support, they are dieting with me. They are Trying hard to eat mostly liquids (though better liquids than what I can have, and they cheated today for valentines day). But thank God, I'm doing good! I hope yall have good luck continuing your diets!

I am feb 25th too! your diet is different then mine though. I started mine yesterday (so thats 2 weeks long) and i can only drink Protein Drink mixes (carnation breakfast), sugar free Jello, sugar free popcicles, and Soup broth. ONLY!

im worried about that too! im on birth control and i think im supposed to stop it before surgery, so i would more than likely be on my period on the day of it! i hope it stops before then!!

thanks! i will start the sugar pills next week, so maybe once i get there i will stop. i have never been on bc nor ever stopped taking it, what happened when u stopped taking it? im assuming ill have my period during the sugar pills, but if i dont start a new pack will i stay on my period or will it just stop? i dont want to be on my period during my surgery =/

Age and height? 20 and 5' 4.5" #6. Current weight and goal weight? 246 lbs and 135 lbs #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? When I was put on High blood pressure medication and my dad got diabetes. #8. Do you have the support of family and friends? my mom has always supported me because she having the same problems. My dad was always against it, even though he was overweight, he thinks we can all do it with just healthy food and exercise. but finally after seeing how much it meant to me, he finally supports me now. I have only told one of my best friends and she has been so supportive as well. #9. Concerns and questions? I am just worried about being on birth control. I started bc a month and a half ago because of hormone problems and miss periods. my surgeon hasnt told me if i need to get off of them before the surgery, i dont know if he knows i am on them. now its 2 weeks away and i dont want to mention it because i dont want my surgery to get postponed. =/

I think clothes is a great goal! my short time goal right now are size 18 jeans that i used to fit in about 2 years ago. Since then i can never find perfect fit jeans. So i cant wait!
