  1. I am 10 day post-op with the same hiatal hernia repair and I still have problems w/ my left shoulder & my rib cage with deep breathes. I go in for my post -op follow up today with my dr. and I'm going to ask him about when we I should feel some relief. Congrats on the band, welcome to the otherside!!
  2. I was given Mylicon (sp) it's a liquid medication that is used mostly in infants. That did help me along with the gas-x strips. Honestly, it took me over 6 days to start to feel better from the gas. Last night 7 days post-op I slept in my bed for the 1st time. That is how I felt about chicken broth, I started gagging a few days in. My doctor is following a strict diet - Clear liquids for 7 days after, then 7 days of full-liquids, then to pureed. I see him tomorrow so I'm hoping I can move on soon. Best of luck!
  3. Best of luck! I'm 8 days post-op and doing well. The 1st few days can be rough, but once you get over that everything starts to fall into place.
  4. I haven't had any other soup yet besides Tomato, Butternut Squash and Red Pepper and Tomato soup. I haven't even thought of doing Soups other than creamy soups. LOL, I'm so afraid to go off of my provided list from my dr.
  5. So I'm 8 days post op and I started my full-liquid diet yesterday. My instructions say to eat 1/2 cup of strained creamy soup. I'm finding I'm still hungry or at least I think I am still hungry but I don't want to eat more if I'm going over my 1/2 cup. Did most of you eat more than the alloted amount given?
  6. I'm with you! I feel that way too about sweet stuff. I am eating Chobani non-fat yogurt w/ some splenda this morning, and its a special treat! I am meeting with my DR tomorrow for my follow up and I'm hoping he will give me a time frame to move to pureed foods! GOOD LUCK
  7. I actually have Isopures, they make me extremely thirsty - I don't know if it's the sodium content in them or not, but I need to down a bottle of Water afterwards to help balance out! Thanks :w00t:
  8. I FINALLY moved to full liquids today and I'm eating a low-fat tomato soup and I have a cream of potato soup that I'll strain out. Does anyone else have suggestions? Does anyone have any homemade recipes that you would suggestion? Thanks!
  9. OK, thanks. I miss picking him up
  10. When can you have mashed potatoes? How did you make them? I haven't even started full-liquids yet! AHHH
  11. Mine was longer because I also had the 6 month insurance requirement. I had my 1st consult on 2/24 and was banded 8/3.
  12. I know I was told not to life anything heavy after surgery, how long does that last? Can I pick up my 3 yr old who weighs about 35lbs?
  13. I am very hungry as well. Today is my last day of Clear Liquids....ahhhh I can not wait to add Protein shakes & Soups to my diet tomorrow. Today is the 1st day I am actually feeling good, I picked up the house and will do some more house work later. I am still tired and not sleeping well at night. I'm back to work on Wednesday, not looking forward to that!
  14. Do you crush your pills, or do you shallow it whole since it's so small? I've been crushing mine for the past several days, I just want to make sure it is necessary.
  15. I had surgery on Tuesday, I'm going back to work on the following Wednesday, so 6 days off. Honestly, I wish it was more.
  16. I had to do 10 days pre-op and then 2 days prior to surgery clear liquid diet, now I'm finishing up my 7 day clear post-op diet and moving onto full-liquids on Tuesday.
  17. I know, I'm actually a little annoyed about how strict my doctor was at 1st, but I realize now that he does it this way to really get my mind ready for life with the band. I have that pressure on my chest as well and I really hope it goes away soon! I do take Gas-X but not as much as I should I guess. I think my biggest issues is that I'm not really taking in the most liquid I should be daily. I'm getting maybe 20oz a day
  18. Connie it really all depends on what your doctor suggestions. Most doctors will give you a list of the allowable foods before and after surgery.
  19. THANK YOU! I feel SO much better now, I honestly though I was getting pneumonia as well! I do have the blower thing, which I haven't been great about keeping up with. Great tips and I'll pull it out now. THANKS
  20. I'm 5 days out from being banded and I'm still having left shoulder pain from gas as well as when I take in large deep breathes I have sort of chest pain or discomfort. Did anyone else experience this? Should I be worried?
  21. I'm doing a little better! My shoulder pain on the left side and if I breath in very deep I have discomfort still. We went to Target & the grocery store today, felt ok until right before we left and it was too much walking for me. I still feel run down still (because I'm not sleeping more than 2 hrs at a time). I honestly am getting hungry and am SO sick of fat-free both, popsicles and Jello, I can't wait to move on to to full-liquid. Hope every is doing well!
