  1. Hi everyone, it's been a while since I checked in to see how everyone is doing! I have finally hit the 70lb mark an I have 20 more to hit my "goal" weight. Of course if I go lower, I'll be beyond thrilled. I recently went to my sister's wedding and got a picture taken in my size 9 dress I got from the junior section at Macy's. I still can't believe it! . I hope everyone is doing well!

  2. I think I might finally be at my "sweet spot". It's been a long road with a leaky port and gallbladder surgery, but I went in on Monday for a fill and I'm about 5.5 cc's full now. I've had 2 stuck episodes since then, but I'm adjusting slowly. I've worked out 3x already this week and I really hope this is what I need to lose the last 30lbs!

  3. Someone please motivate me!! My scale hasn't moved in 2 months and I have another 30lbs to lose. I am not exercising and I'm losing my energy level big time. I can't seem to kick my butt to get moving again.

Any words of advice? 30lbs is all I need to get myself to where I want to be and that was my goal when I started this journey at 208lbs.

  4. Well Jamie we all expell gas 14 to 16 times a day.....that is just a fact of life! Maybe you just notice it know because you are uber aware of your body!

Normal gas is one thing, this is uncontrollable gas , where I have to walk away from people mid sentence at times because I am afraid of what might happen. I assume this is not normal

  5. OK, I have GOT to ask. Is anyone else experience embarrassing, almost uncontrollable gas? I don't mean the burping kind! It started after surgery and has continued to get worse and worse. I am at a point now where it's almost daily where I'm bloated and my stomach feels like it's going to burst and if I don't walk and pass gas, I am in pain all day long. Why is this happening? Is anyone else experiencing and if so, how are you coping with it?

  6. Just wanted to say hi to everybody and to see how everybody is doing.

Kelly! I could have written your post word for word. I need to focus on my Protein big time and this week, I've gone to the time 3x, so that's good for me.

I have about 28lbs to lose for my mini goal - which will put me at 120 - however, I know for my height, I could go down to 100lbs (I'm 4'9) but I don't want to struggle with to maintain that little weight.

I love these posts and it helps keep me focus, we can do it!

  7. Hi everyone!

My weight loss has slowed down dramatically, when I went in for my fill on Friday I lost 2.5lbs in just over a month. I need to kick up the exercise for sure, I'm only going 2x a week - but work has been horrible and I go during lunch time. I need to get back on that routine and I know the weight will start coming off more. I'm 30lbs away from my goal weight so I know this is going to be super hard to get off...... I'm still pushing, coming on 30lbs!!

Everyone is doing so great, let's keep it up!

  8. Those of you with thyroid diseases- If you have hypothyroid have your meds been increased or decreased with your weight loss?

MY PCP seems to think my meds should decrease-I'm not sure why because I only weighed 115 pounds when my thyroid initially swelled up and slowed down. I think of the thyroid issue as not really weight related. Anyway, my surgeon says he does bariatric and thyroid surgeries. He says my meds should increase as my weight goes down.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, my decreased! I was taking 125mcg at surgery time. After I hit my 40lb weight loss mark, my dosage decreased to 112mcg. I've had 2 blood workups since then and my levels have stayed where they should be.

  9. Hi Everyone! Looks like everyone is doing great. I've hit a plateau and I'm trying hard to stay positive and optimistic. After the port replacement & gallbladder surgery, I am slowly still working in my fills. I am up to 4cc's in my 10cc band and still do not feel much restriction at all. I go in on April 29th for my next fill and I'm hoping she gives me 1cc so I can be to the 1/2 way mark. Having those two surgeries really pushed my goals down big time. I want to lose another 30lbs and I am really trying to stay positive that I can do that before our 1 year bandanniversary!

How is everyone else feeling overall?

  10. My marriage had gone through a rough patch a few years ago. When we went through counseling my husband mentioned how he was concerned with my current weight and my healthy. That always stuck in the back of my mind while we continued with our marriage struggles. Two years later, I decided to get lapband. He was extremely support - however about 50lbs into my weight loss, he told me he wanted to leave and couldn't deal with unhappy anymore. One of the major things that stuck out to me as he was talking was that he thought I would leave him after I lost weight. We have since talked things over more. I'm not sure what the outcome of our marriage will be, however, I know for myself, it was the best decision I ever made.

  11. Sounds exactly what I'm going through. My port replacement was scheduled for this past thursday, however, I discovered that I have a malfunctioning gall bladder so they are doing the port replacement & gall bladder removal at the same time. I am looking forward to getting the real restriction / assistance that the band is suppose to do. Best of luck!

  12. I started getting these horrible stomach pains that moved into my back, the pain was awful, more than any labor pains I experienced with my son. The pain was so bad last weekend that I mentioned it to my doctor when I went in to get my port replacement surgery scheduled. My doctor talked to me and told me it sounds like gall bladder issues. He told me it was common for patients with rapid weight loss. With all of my port leaking issues, I have still managed to lose 43lbs with (mind you starving) little food and large exercise. He put my weight loss more in the gastric bypass category than a lapband patient. He did say it was fairly common. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this? We rescheduled my port replacement for the 18th and then at that time he will also remove my gall bladder.

  13. So after 7 fills and still feeling very hungry / almost sick at times of being hungry (not increase my food intake even with being hungry) my PA checked my Fluid levels. I should have been at 5cc's and when she pulled out the saline, I was just over 1cc. I had to go in for a flouscopy last week and thankfully, they saw no leak in the band. SO, they put in 2.5 cc's last week and went in yesterday for a fluid check. I was just over 1 cc. So, I have a port leak. I can't believe I've lost what I have in my 8/3 surgery without basically any restriction. I barely eat more than 850 calories a day and I exercise a lot. I do get really hungry, but do not snack. I am just glad they figured out I had a leak. I just kept telling myself that I just wasn't at my sweet spot yet and I will get there. SO, waiting for the approval through insurance for the port replacement and they are hoping to get my in the week of New Years. It's a 20-30 minute procedure with local anesthesia. SO ready for the hunger to go away and see how the band is suppose to be working with me and me not fighting for it to work.

  14. I have had 5 fills since my 8/3 surgery. I have been dealing with "banster hell" since my surgery and I am 4 months post-op. I just assumed that I would have to push through until I get to my sweet spot and would start feeling that full feeling. I have been working my butt off with stopping when I get the slightly satisfied with my food, working out 4x a week and have been pushing through my hungry. When I went in for my 6th fill, I told my PA that I've been getting sick a few times a week because I get so hungry and it comes on so fast. She thought it was strange since I should have had 5cc's in my 10cc band. She thought maybe I had air in my band and pulled out my saline to take a look. I only had 1cc in my band. We'll, that does explain the hungry. I was told I probably have a leak and would need to have a flouroscopy to check it out. I did have that this past week and it doesn't look like my band is causing any issues (THANK GOD) it looks like I might have a slow leak right at the port. While I was still on the xray screen, they put in 2.5cc' in my band. I go back this Thursday to check my levels to see if they have decreased. My doctor did tell me my port is have a large angle and even if I do not have a leak, he was going to replace the port anyway. It would be a 20 minute procedure and I would be in and out.

I do feel better knowing that I'm not crazy not understanding why I'm still always hungry and not understanding after 5 fills how much longer I could continue on. I am upset thinking that I have to continue to push until I get to my sweet spot after the port has been replaced. I am so glad I said something because I really have been pushing myself with 800-900 calories a day without any restriction and working out as much as I can. Has anyone else dealt with this? Can you give me some insight on how things are after the port has been replaced?
