  1. Going in for my 2nd fill today. I have been stuck at the same post surgery weight, is that normal? 1st fill was 2.5cc. What is the average amount of fills to get to the green zone? Hoping with my fill today I can have a BIG decrease in my appetite....Fingrts crossed!!!

  2. I have BCBS Blue Advantage ***. My insurance covered the entire procedure. So every month when I went in to see the nutritionist I never had a copay to pay. Even when I completed the 6mo program and did my pre-op test that Dr. Shayani required, there was no co-pay required by my insurance. I just received the invoice in the mail last week from the hospital.......WOW!!!! glad I have insurance to cover it all, because the total was over $20,000

  3. Welcome, Dr Shayani is my surgeon as well. Can not stop prasing him and his team, everyone met and exceded my expectations. I was just banded June 5th, so I'm only a weeks post-op. I'm in Park Forest, so not far from you at all. Hopefully we will get a chance to meet at the monthly meetings Tina host. I wish you the best of Luck on your new Jurney. Keep in touch.

  4. Good morning all. I was recently banded on June 5th. So I'm almost thru my first week. Thankfully the pain/ discomfort has been very minimal. But I'm starting to get hungry :) Can anyone tell me let me know what to expect the next few weeks? In excited to graduate to soft food next week. What does that consist of?

    Thanks for all the help!

  5. Hello All, I also have BCBS IL ***. I was required to complete a 6 month program, which I started back in November 2011. After that was finished with that in April I had to get a pre-surgical refferal to see the suregon from my primary doctor(1st visit with him was also in April). My surgeon Dr. Shayani had me complete lab work, psych visit, ekg, and esophogram. I completed all that in about 2 1/2 weeks (Yes I rushed to complete it :) ) I returned to my primary doctor to get a surgical refferal. They submitted my paperwork to the insurance company, and it only took about a week before I got a call back from my surgeon's office with a date. I got that call the end of April/beginning of May and had a date of May 23rd, but I had to move it back cause I wanted to take some time off of work after the surgery. So June 5th it is. I credit my surgeon's office with getting me scheduled so quickly, they were sending in my paperwork to the insurance company right after my doctors visit.

I hope everything goes well with you all. I totally understand where you all are coming from. I was on pins and needles, and it seemed like the wait was forever. Before you know it you will be in your post op phase.

    Best of luck to all!!

  6. Congrats!!!! thats GREAT. I also will be getting banded on June 5th. I totallly understand how you feel......come on June 4th already!! :D Unlike you I did have complete a 6 month program. It felt like forever to get from day 1 until the phone call for a surgery date. I'm glad I made it to this point and I am sooooo looking forward to starting this jurney. I wish you much success with all your goals. Keep me posted on your accomplishments.

    Good Luck!!

  7. Thanks for all the advise. I also work a desk job. So I'm not up and down a lot, and there is not heavy lifting at all. In some cases I might be required to bend and reach. Like Stephyanders said...everyone heals differently. Because I work alone to be on the safe side I'll take 4-5 days off, plus I have plenty of sick time to use.

  8. OK, so I finally got the call I have been waiting for over a week now. Surgeon’s office got all of my paperwork in and I can go ahead a schedule my procedure. I was given a date of May 23. The bad

part about that is I work midnights and it's really hard to find someone to

cover my shift, not to mention that we are already short staffed. My plan was

only going to take off 1 day, but was told that might not be enough recovery

time. How many days should I plan to take off from work?

  9. Hello all pre/post banders and everyone in between. I am a newbie to this site, and within the last 24 hours or so have begun to find it so helpful.

I have been considering lap band for a few years now. Just recently I finally took the step forward to becoming a healthier me. I had to complete a 6 month metabolic program which consisted of me seeing a nutritionist once a month, a phsyc visit, a weight loss meeting, and a lap band seminar. I finally completed all of the necessary requirements this past April . I got my pre-surgical referral to see this wonderful doctor...Dr. Shayani. I have seen nothing but the best reviews about him and his staff. I highly recommend him. As of April 19th I completed all of his post surgical requirements, which were an esophogram, phsyc approval, and some lab work. Now I am impatiently waiting to schedule my surgery.

Currently I am 241lbs 5'3in . My goal weight is 140-145. But we shall see. I think I will be happy at any weight around that number, I will know when I am comfortable with my body again.

I am not really nervous far as the surgery goes. What’s bothering me is how my body will adjust to the weight loss. I know I need to work out, but I'm not sure if my body will keep up since I would be losing weight at a more rapid pace. With that being said has anyone (mainly females) had problems with sagging skin, or droopy boobs? I contacted BC/BS of IL and inquired about cosmetic surgery. Happy to say it is something that covered under my plan with a referral.

Can anyone can give me a little insight as to what I have forward to looking to far as this waiting game, and post op care, any and all comments, suggestions, and words of encouragement are all greatly appreciated.

Thank you and I wish everyone much continued success on your journey!!
