  1. Hello everyone I wanted to share my experience dealing with Grand Health Partners in Grand Rapids Michigan. I had surgery on the 26th of this month, or 5 days ago with Dr. Nagle. I tried a few years back with another service offered in Lansing Mi and was not satisfied at all with thier approach. Dr. Nagle and Grand Health Partners have made this life changing event for me comfortable and as easy as it could possibly go. St Mary Hospital in Grand Rapids also had a part in that. What a beautiful place to recover from surgery. Staff was the best I have ever experienced in a hospital setting. I cant say enough good things about my experience. Happy to be on the losers bench..

    I wish I hadn't told

Good for you. I don't like to preach but God is my entire life. He makes all the decisions and let me tell you as of today I am 10 days post op and feel great. I started at 303 and am now at 270. 33 pounds in a month. I will pray for you and hope things continue to go in Gods direction for you.

    I wish I hadn't told

That's a load of crap. I guess under your friends theory if your kidney was failing and you replaced it you are going against God because its not your original body. People need to think before they speak for God. Let me tell you this if God did not want you to have this surgery the doors would have been closed. My entire surgery journey has been decided by God as my life is in His hands. I pray for His will not my own. Don't worry about people that act this way. Most of the time there is some underlying jealousy problem that is their real issue. If God does not approve of your surgery it will simply not happen. Good luck and stay positive.

    What do i do?!?

There is a greater risk of dying pulling out of your drive way than dying from this surgery. Don't be scared. This is nothing compared to heart surgery or any of the many surgeries you may have to get if you remain overweight.

    What do i do?!?

I am 8 days out and doing great. One or two stories about a bad experience does not outweigh the hundreds of thousands of positive stories. I would not change my decision for anything. Your going to die someday if it's your time it's your time. Don't be afraid it's really not to bad. Yes there are down sides. Death is the last thing you should be thinking about.

48 hours Post op, not too bad

I am 8 days out and as everyone here says it gets better each day. Each person is different however as time passes it does get much better.

    First 2 weeks of liquid?!?

Sugar free Popsicles have been great. I also take a can of soup and put it in the ninja everyone in a while. This part does suck. I am living on mussel milk, Popsicles and water. I bought so much crap that I was told to that I will never eat. Most of it tastes really bad to me post op. I ordered the unflavored ungery and plan on mixing it in with my flavored water to up my protein level.

    Pre op visit was today

You know your life path is already drawn. God is in control of everything. Driving to the hospital for your surgery can kill you. If you believe in God put your faith in him. I had no fear of this surgery as my life belongs to God. If it was my time then it was my time. I made it. Easy as closing your eyes and then waking up 2 seconds later. You will be fine. If this surgery scares you think about heart surgery or some other weight related surgery you may end up having to get. You will do great.

    Here comes the sleeve

Yes you are doing this. There is a reason you are on that plane. Don't back down and change your mind. A few small holes in you stomach is nothing compared to living the rest of your life overweight. It's a very easy and safe procedure. You won't remember a thing as far as the surgery its self goes.

    I GOT MY DATE!

    Congrats
  14. If you have faith in God then there is no need to worry. I literally did not worry at all with my surgery as I knew my life was in Gods hands. Pray that everything goes perfect and leave the rest to God. He will deliver..

    Leaving for the hospital now.

Go get em.. You are going to do great. The fact that you are a member of this site tells me you are knowledgable and ready. Think about this time next week you will be one week out from surgery. Good luck today.

    Surgery Date 4/15

Panic about what? I would reverse your thoughts and panic more on if you do not get this surgery. You have made it this far - time for the next step. Set it in your mind that you are doing it and don't look back. 38 and 40 are young ages and great times to do this. I just did mine on the 26th and am in the liquid stages still. Worry does nothing but cause issues. You know the risks involved get passed worrying about them and move forward. You will both do great. Before you know it you will be over here on the losers bench.. Stay positive..

    5 days post op

It might just be your breath. I have found that mine is NASTY since surgery.

    Tomorrow is the day!

Look at this as just one step in your life. It is over very quickly and then you will be struggling with the liquid diet. You will do great just have the nurse give you some "I don't care" medicine as soon as possible. It makes it a lot easier.

    day 4 post op

Solid foods will be nice in the future..

    Can I Do This?

I have always been a big eater. Male and 303 pounds took alot of food. You can do it. Go into surgery ready and confident. I did so well on my pre op diet that they only used 4 cuts instead of 5 as my liver was shrunk from the diet. It is hard but you can do it. Get your body ready now because after surgery you will not have a choice. Keep busy and positive..
