  1. I had the band in 2010 and seemed to be going along fine. I stayed in contact with my doc and his support staff. Went in when needed. I thought something was wrong and went in and even asked about slippage, they told me it was fine, not sure how they knew. Then at Thanksgiving I couldn't even keep down water, I was throwing up everything. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving they finally did an upper GI and said it slipped. I told them to just take it out. I have gained back almost all of the weight I lost. Total fail. I'm actually wanting something done, but I'm so scared of any of it again.
  2. I'm so happy to hear it's not just me! I have been worried sick since last August. And the cost is killing me to keep putting the same 1CC in and out. Not sure I would recommend this surgery to friends anymore. Good luck!
  3. I have been banded almost a year. I've had set backs and have not had the mental (emotional) capabilities to stay motivated. I am ready to change all that, but one thing that bothers me still is the port site. I had an illness (we assume) that had me throwing everything up for a week solid, so I had an unfill. I just wanted to be relieved so I let the PA do the unfill. He manhandled my port and now I feel like when I first got banded, like it's sticking out it's site. And if I bump it, it is sore. I have an appointment with the doc next week, but scared to have anyone mess with it, either for fills or anything. Anyone have a similar experience, or have any suggestions? It's not "ouch, I can't stand it" but I definitely know it's there!
  4. Thank you for sharing. I'm interested in that book, so will get that, read and then possibly re-post. I am close to a year out and am only down 18#, and I think those are the pre-op diet pounds I lost. I have really struggled, but would not seek help, as I don't like the way I feel on the anti depressants they prescribe, and they dont' really seem to help. I feel I need something that is more private, as I tend to skirt the real deep issues in therapy, so maybe a self look book would be the answer. I hope you find something on your journey that helps you, as I know that is what I'm looking for! Keep at it, and I'll listen if you just need to talk it out.....sometimes that just helps.
  5. I am 5 1/2 months out. I lost initially (due to only having liquids I"m sure) and practically nothing since. I lost 16 lbs in 2 weeks right after a fill, and I could keep nothing down, so they took it out. Now I'm hungry every 2-3 hours no matter how much Protein I have. It's not just you. Give it time. I'm trying to be patient. Surround yourself with positive, encouraging, influencial people. Good luck!
  6. Ditto what Froggie D said! I was going to post that today, Lead us off, Ladies and Gents!
  7. They sell them at Walmart for between $40 and $50 bucks with all the gear. I had used mine on a diet that was monitored (prior to ever considering WLS).
  8. 2 weeks from today I will be banded! Now it's the pre-op diet, but man is it real now! Seemed like I had so long to wait, and it really flew by. Now I'm nervous as all get out! Anybody else?
  9. Mimi368, That is a very good idea. I have waited a little over 2 months after my approval, but I wasn't done with some of the testing. Good luck to us!!!
  10. I wouldn't think you would be doing the pre-op diet without a date?
  11. Congrats! Yea, Easter is the day before my surgery, so I'll be there with you, and my shake and maybe some SF Jello
  12. Hi, ginger! I'm scheduled April 5. I have told a few friends and my mom, my daughter, but have failed to tell my sons. Think it's a guy thing. Getting banded in Topeka at Tallgrass by Dr. Hu
  13. Ok, after getting through all the posts, I realize :scared2:I go tomorrow night for my CPAP sleep study. Love the glue haired look at work, though.
  14. Agreed. I try and lurk for you....I mean look for your posts. Very inspiring.
  15. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery and 3 weeks from pre op, so this was very enlightening for me, Thank you all. And you are all doing very well, and this is so good for us! I love that this is so supportive, and the advise and the kudos! Whenever I feel like I'm chickening, I just come on here to get some BOOST!
  16. Hey, Whillow, I want you to know that I WAS one of those morons. I knew nothing about banding and a friend of mine got it done, and I was stupid and said mean things because she wasn't instantly smaller. Well, eating crow while I wait for my surgery, as it took her 4 months to hit her sweet spot and she looks AMAZING! And I told her so (as I was drooling!). I may have hurt her for a while, but she got me back hard! Just wait for that AHA! moment...it will be so sweet! :frown:
  17. Topeka. I am scheduled for April 5. JC, I know you are not on today, as it is surgery day!!!! :frown: Thinking about you, hope to see you on here and hear about your journey soon!
  18. Where are you getting samples? I was going to get a "sample" pack of 5, but it was going to be $20. It sounded like you maybe "test drove" a couple. Didn't know if a site let you try without $10 shipping!
  19. Good Luck, Joyce in Kansas! I am in Kansas, and have my date set in April. I have the same thinking as you, and they are getting me a nutritionist to help me start thinking about how I need to start eating for the rest of my life!
  20. I believe I have right at 100 lbs to lose. I feel like I've gained since my last weigh in at the consult, but then again, after the pre op diet, I don't really know what the actual number will be.
  21. April 5th. Everytime I think about it I start getting all light headed! Don't know if that's good or bad!
  22. April 5. Have you started freaking out yet? I have, making it hard to eat, etc.....that's one way to pre-op!
  23. I just got my phone call and they scheduled my surgery. Looking at April 5th. I have started my sleep diary for the sleep study and that is the last thing that I have to do, other than the 2nd consult and the labwork. Think I'm starting to get nervous, it's not completly hit me, I don't think. I was just sitting here trying to decide if I should just try one more diet. I just want my life back. Now to work on the inside stuff! Anyone else out there looking at an April banding?
  24. Hey, Tammy, yes, the surgeon's office should provide support in getting the authorization and approval from your insurance. They should be able to guide you. I would suggest if that person was not that helpful, maybe try a different personnel or office. I am in Kansas, and this office that I'm starting with is wonderful! They are so helpful! But yes, first is the seminar. Hope you can find the information that you need.
