    Losing TOO much weight!

I have surpassed my goal weight and need to stop losing. People are telling me that I look sick. I think that I will eventually even out and start to look healthy again, but although I'm at the bottom of the weight charts, I'm still not considered underweight on the charts. I don't think that people are used to seeing me this thin and therefore the shock of seeing the skinny, healthy me compared to the fat with my skin filled out unhealthy me, has them thinking that they can say rude things to me. I agree that I look thin, but after losing 102 pounds, my skin is saggin somewhat and I have to give my body a chance to recover from the shock of losing over a hundred pounds. I have already had an unfill and am going to go have another. Do I have an eating disorder?....no, I eat as much as I can without getting sick. Do I need an adjustment? yep, that's why we stay in touch with our Drs. Will all of these problems get better? You betcha! I'm healthy with a BMI of 19%. I just have to get to where I can find the balance of eating enough to stop losing and not gaining it back. It won't happen overnight.....so please don't tell me I look anorexic! That's just as bad as telling me I was fat a year ago. I'm a work in progress.
  2. Of course you'll start feeling better! You just had surgery! You aren't supposed to want anything to eat today, your not supposed to have any energy, you are supposed to lay in bed all day and take your pain medication. I layed in bed most of the week regaining myself. I didn't want to eat anything for 3 days. My husband brought me my broth and jello and made me eat it. I was one of the ones who didn't lose much weight during the 10 days I had mostly liquids. I have to eat to make my metabolism kick in and then I lose. So, let your body heal a little bit before you start worrying too much about things. Then when you start eating solids, everything will fall into place the way it should. You now have a lap band....now you have to train your brain that your body is not hungry. It's a wonderful thing!

    I cant believe this!!!

Same thing happened to me. My Dr told me that I couldn't disqualify myself from the surgery after I had the insurance approval because they would never see another weight. I actually dropped from 38 BMI to a 34.9. This is because of the preop diet. They want you to lose weight before the surgery because that shows you are following the low card diet getting your liver ready. I told my doctor that I didn't need the band to lose the weight, I had done that 7 times in my life. I needed it to keep it off. I actually lost 24 pounds before my surgery. Everybody is saying that I didn't need the surgery, but I do need the band. I want to get to a healthy weight and stay there for more than 2 years. So I proudly got the surgery with a weigh in of 191 pounds that morning. If you are approved, you should be OK. Just call and ask if you can disqualify yourself on the preop diet. If your Dr says that you can, than the weights might not be such a crazy idea......10 pounds should not disqualify you at this point.
  4. I have a friend who has had surgery on both feet for Tarsel Tunnel. The surgery has helped her and she is not in agony any more. She would recommend that you go ahead with it if you are in agony with it.

    Visible port?????/

I like the "on-off" button! I'll use that one if you don't mind. I only hope that mine shows some day, that means that I've lost enough to wear that bikini. I will tell everybody what it is until I can get a low profile. It will be my badge of honor.

Wow, I have a Blog Spot!

This is kind of cool...I've never had a blog spot. Surgery was Tuesday 2/2/10. Today is Saturday. It seems that my Dr takes a little different approach to the pre op diet and post op diet. It has me a little worried that I shouldn't have eaten those few bites of meat. I did a pre op low carb diet for 4 weeks and I lost 15 pounds on it. Then I had to go only liquids for 2 days before the surgery. I'm on soft foods right now, but we don't do weeks and weeks of it. He said that he's found that he doesn't like putting up diet rules that set you up to fail and if you follow his recommendations on the low carb for 4 weeks, that that is plenty to get your liver ready. And my liver was ready.

  8. Ok Tweety...I think you're me! I was banded on 2/2/10 and started my period the day after too! We are sister's in bandedness. Good luck to you. Ann
  9. I did not go until Day 4 and then I had to take Magnezium to do that. I guessed nothing in, nothing out.....However, today I am hungrier. I've been eating broth and cream soup and sf pudding. Today, I had an egg for lunch. Things are going good. But I haven't eaten anything worth anything in 7 days and I've only dropped 2 pounds. I think I'm swollen from the surgery. Or my body is in starvation mode and has shut down metobolically. Good luck to all of you!
