  1. Had surgery Oct. 2009, was so excited for a new chapter in my life. Did really well before and 3 months after surgery. For whatever reason, I only lost about 15 lbs. during that time. I was starting to get really concerned, but hadn't really had much in the way of fills. I currently have about 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I have never really had any restriction. I started @ 232 and have been at @ 215 since last November. I have improved many of my habits, and really have cut back on portion sizes. But, I can eat way more than I should be able to. I know I still eat too many carbs. This band has done nothing to help me with the willpower challenge! Have to say I am very depressed about this and haven't been on this site in a long time. The people close to me who know I've had the surgery are also disappointed for me. I thought by this time I'd be down @ 60 or more pounds. I think my fill doctor considers my lapband surgery a failure for me. Don't think I can go much tighter as that tends to lead to other problems. Glad for those of you who have had success. I just really can not believe this didn't work for me, or that I didn't let it I guess.
  2. WOW Thanks for the advice and all of the supportive comments. I was exhausted yesterday when I posted! Very demanding job, and trying to get the kiddos ready to go back to school. I will heed your expert advice and get more fills until I start seeing the results I "deserve". I will update you all b/c I feel re-inspired and wonder why the heck I procrastinated on some of this. Two good things though: my fill doctor (he really is an okay guy) doesn't charge me anymore - initially, he was charging $250 so that was a challenge. When he asked why I didn't keep coming back, I did tell him it was a financial challenge b/c I also self paid for the surgery, etc... Also, I used to have terrible heartburn all of the time since my first pregnancy 12 years ago. That went away right after surgery and has not returned. Time to get back to "me" and get the ball rolling! Thanks again for responding, I really do appreciate it!
  3. Had I gone on this site b4 my surgery, I would NEVER have had it! I was banded on 10/22/09 - lost 22 lbs. pre-op and w/in next 3-4 weeks, and NOTHING since - no matter what I eat - which is very little. Obviously, from reading the posts on here, this band is NOT the tool as it was advertised to be. This was major surgery with commercials advertising that it would limit hunger and make you feel full. Not happening. I don't ever feel full - just uncomfortable, so the hunger is still there. Also, there are so many biological issues here I won't even get into - but, you probably know what I mean. It looked fairly simple going into surgery, but in the back of my mind - which I ignored out of desperation - I knew this wasn't going to work on me. I even joked to my sister - one of the few people I have even told about this thank God - that I would be the one anomaly that this wouldn't work on. I have only had one fill for various reasons - money being one of them - at 1.5ccs. I really think I'm wasting my time and money quite frankly. My colleagues on Jenny Craig are leaps and bounds ahead of me in weight loss and eating pretty good meals throughout the day. I think I'm going to go on Medifast - tried it once but didn't last long. So, I have to pay for my surgery, my fills, and now more "specialized" foods. I am NOT happy about this, but will look into my options legally. If I could just recoup my surgery costs, I'll be happy - but probably a REAL LONG SHOT!
  4. I'm not gonna complain. I'm not gonna complain. Okay, haven't lost wt in 2 mos. even though I cut out tons of stuff I was eating/drinking. I'm sure I'm eating too many calories sometimes, but for the most part, feel I am not. Too busy / in denial to track b/c of my life right now - which is why I got the band. Wondering if someone who is steadily losing 1-2 lbs / wk can share an example of their daily diet. Thanks!
  5. Thank you Leigha for taking time to help me out! I think my dinners are too big - but, then I'm not hungry for most of the next day. I def need to chart my daily intake.

    50 lbs!!!!!

We were banded the same time and I am so happy for you, but unfortunately I am not having the same success. What does your daily diet look like? I'm thinking of doing another program to help, as I obviously have hidden calories in my diet.
  7. I was banded 10/22 and was extremely certain this is what I wanted. I actually posted a few days ago about filing a lawsuit (I was being somewhat tongue and cheek, I know I don't really have a case). I go back and forth w/ this b/c it obviously has helped me lose some weight. Before surgery, I weighed between 232-236, but I have been at 210 for almost 2 months. The concern I have is that, regardless of the band, I do not generally eat over 1000 calories, and basically eat a protein shake for breakfast, light cal snack, cup of soup for lunch, and some type of chicken for dinner, plus maybe a serving of rice cakes, sugar free jello or pudding for another snack. Not saying I haven't been "bad" a time or two, but I eat SO much less than I was! I cut out pop completely, which is a huge hurdle, and no bread, very little carbs. I don't get why I'm not losing 1-2 lbs a week just from dieting, nothing to do w/ band. I just got my first fill last week at 1.5cc. Some days I have no hunger, some days a little more hungry. It is very frustrating and I feel very disappointed. Could someone tell me what their daily diet is like who is losing more weight?? As far as exercise, while I'm not completely inactive, I know I need to step it up a notch, but the lower calories alone should contribute to steady weight loss.
