Sending healing prayers for Julie and her doctors at Mayo Clinic. Also, sending strength with Karen on another trip to the dentist. Arlene - enjoy holding that new granddaughter today.

Karen - I love the idea of EXACT instructions about your funeral. Makes it easier for the loved ones to make the plans. Very thoughtful. And, Janet - I agree - I want SOCKS. Always have cold feet.

Karen - sorry the wake was so painful for you. In answer to your question, closed casket causes less pain for me. However, not wishing to offend anyone - just my opinion - I believe the whole burial ritual in America is barbaric. Fill the body up with fluids and putting on makeup and closes - why. Why not P.J's, if we are sleeping. I always said I wanted a tennis dress, racket and a couple cans (new) of balls. Please - not meaning to offend anyone - just my thoughts. Our bodies are just the vessel to take us thru this life. Really have nothing to do with the soul/spirit of the person. I've told my girls, when I'm gone - don't visit the gravesite, I won't be there. I'll be in the wind, the sound of the chimes on the deck, the invisible person riding in the convertible that passes them on the highway, the traveler boarding the flight, that small voice in their hearts and that warmth wrapping arms around them while they sleep. ry -

Karen - welcome home. Sounds like a great lake weekend. Janet - you were definitely the "hot chick" - but a nice looking group of friends. Glad you enjoyed the concert. Does sound like Andrew is gone permanently. Enjoy your peaceful home. Arlene - I'll be watching for that big storm to arrive in K.C. The time at the gym has my knees hurting. Probably need to spend time in the Water instead.

Laura - what a sweet story about the airplane (duplicate) from Nels gd'ma. You are doing a great job raising him with lovely manners.
  9. Welcome to our group, Jennifer. The lap band is a marvelous tool to help with weight loss and control. Dawn - don't worry about the fill. It is a simple procedure and nothing to fear. KS - 3 lbs. gone forever. That is one of the things I love most about my band. When the weight comes off, it stays off.

Julie - I would be delighted to take you for a ride in the convertible. Sometimes I forget how much other ppl like them too. Can't even count how many I've had thru the years. Since I'm part witch - I love the wind. When not riding my broom, I take the convertible. lolol

Linda - Great news about Katie's improvement. Still praying for her. Had a choice today - Go to movie and see Going the Distance OR go to gym. Janet whispered in my ear -- GO TO THE GYM. So, I went. 30 min. on bike and 20 min on treadmill. Thanks, Janet. I feel great.

Jodi - congrats on resolutions for the New Year. Wonderful that you followed thru with last years plans and now time for new goals. It always helps me to have them in writing and to publish or speak of them to friends. Makes me accountable. Lori - sorry your family left early. Try to focus on all the enjoyment you had while they were there and dismiss the early departure. Easier said then done. Hugs. Arlene - nice you received some compliments at church. Just the encouragement to keep on going. Eva - 18 days and counting. I'm so excited for you. I love retirement and fill my days with all things I enjoy - or fill them with reading, walking the dog, and naps. Its all good. Enjoyed class yesterday to discover features of the Mac - so good for my mind to learn. Then drove convertible to the Plaza for dinner with friends. Temp about 84 and perfect.
  14. Tiger - welcome to the club. It's just part of having a band. Meat needs to be MOIST. So bbq sauce might have helped. However, you are right - could have been not chewing well enough or eating to fast. I don't allow myself to be too hungry - or I eat too fast. You are right, it is painful.

Jodi - congrats on TV commercial and what fun the experience of making it. Might they put it on utube???? Then we could all see it and you. Linda - so glad to hear Mercy is doing so well.

Julie - sorry you had to leave the movie - but you didn't miss anything. I agree with you - it was her worst movie. After reading the book, I went to Bali with a spiritual group of yogis. I met Ketut and worked with the healer who was written about in the book. My expectations of the movie were wayyyyy to high. Thought I might see locations I visited in Bali. Didn't happen. Regarding $$ and LV, I just held the reservation on my credit card - no money needed yet. We can each pay our share at check out.

Cheri & Julie - after reading last few posts from you gals, I really see how much we have in common with our history and family issues. So excited to be roommates in LV. Don't want to miss a moment of time together - might have to live on caffeine to stay awake all night. Will be so much fun.

Welcome, Kierstyn. I started pre-op 14 days before. But - call your doctor and follow his directions. Tell them to please clarify the instructions. Linda - Glad to hear some better news about Katie's condition. You are a wonderful person to show so much love to her and her daughter. Laura - have a ball with your parents. So glad to hear they are visiting your home again.

Arlene - NSV - getting up off the floor unassisted. YIPPEE That truly is progress. I still avoid getting on the floor b/c of new knee. Just not sure what it will do yet. As you can all see, I'm reading and commenting. Someone needs to junk up the thread when Karen is gone.

Oh Janet - drama with Andrew. So sorry - BUT enjoy the temporary empty next. You deserve some quiet time w/o the drama. I have plenty of it with daughter who battles chronic depression. Always feel she will be offended (paranoia) by something. Oh well. I call it Pop. But, since the band, don't drink it anymore. Arlene - what a great Mom to clean DD house and share your maids. Easy to see how much you love her.

Julie - hope your daughter and DF will be able to adopt Bailey and remove her from that situation. So sad for her. Sorry you had another rough night. Enjoy your day alone and shopping.

Tech was here almost 3 hours this morning, so I'm now on the Mac permanently. Training curve is ahead, but I'm excited to face it. Weather is improving in K.C. and continuing to walk everyday. Still need to get to the gym (hear Janet in my ear every day). Looks like hurricane Earl blew himself out for Jodi for the weekend.
