    Any Fun Hospital Stories?

...er Jonathan... welcome to how a woman feels giving birth... :-) Modesty be damned. I also had a morphine issue. Really loopy that first day or two. At least I never got sick!!!

    starting to get depressed

For what its worth ditto to all the above. How you feel how everyone has survived, and progressed etc... One day at a time, one step at a time.. Success down the way... you can see it.
  3. Wayne, Kick your negative thoughts.. OUT! Follow the guidelines, but listen to your body and you will succeed. You HAVE succeeded. I agree with counting grams of Protein if that helps. Me, well I try to eat what I like. I am only 2 weeks post op and on to pureed foods and am dealing with meals I cook, smooshed. I cannot wait for SALADS, though! I so empathize with the Protein drinks though... yucky.
  4. Thanks... one other thing avoid the scale as much as possible for awhile. The surgery is only a tool to lose weight. You are healing and your body HAS to have time. (I am not thrilled with that either) Everyone loses weight pretty much the same way we all gain it. Very differently. Have a strong talk with that fear and tell it to take a hike. It is not welcome as you are in charge. :-)
  5. Hi Jorrin, Please be patient with yourself and make absolutely sure you force down as much liquid Protein as you can. It is the key to healing. I am 17 post op and doing pretty good. I only take Tylenol at night as it makes me sleepy, weird huh. I am slowly being able to lie on my sides, right is easier than left and OMG I actually ended up on my stomach last night. Not for long but it wasn't too bad. Move as much as you can too. That helps. Best wishes!
  6. Be patient and stay off the SCALE! It is not your friend. I am two weeks post op and seemed stuck at a weight so I am saying this for myself as well! What makes me nuts is that if I could do the pre op diet and lose weight while the heck could't I just do it without the surgery... I obviously couldn't. So now I keep telling myself that this time I will be kind to myself and patient. It took years to get this way, I am on the right track and just have to keep plugging along... Take care and best wishes!
  7. Be patient kep sipping and it will get better. I am 11 days post op and feeling a lot better.
  8. I love the humor.... I too have licked something just for taste. I took to liquefying some foods near the end of my two weeks post op. Ever had a grilled teeny burger with a dill pickle that you could pour? looks awful but ..oh the taste. In answer to the question Suze, will you be up to a sleep over.. well possibly. If you get up and move and get your Protein down you should be fine. I tire a bit easier at the moment but otherwise seem okay. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Anyway you have a while before surgery. If you can start walking now. The stronger you are the better you'll do..
  9. Make that 11 days post op for my SECOND go around!

  10. 11 Days post op.... Doing well!

    The Second Time Around

I am going through a second time around as well.. I had a lap band in 2009 that flipped twice and was taken out in 2013. I was admitted from the ER. It took me awhile to get over a genuine fear of setting myself up for another procedure that would possibly make me sick all over again. But I did and went for the Roux n Y, Oct 21, 2014. I did the pre op pretty religiously and seem to be healing well. Not keen on the gruel I am eating, but seem to be okay liquefying real food to eat. I have lost about 20 pounds already, which is nice. I was at 285 before the pre op flush. The weird part is I seem to be eating all the time... making a huge effort to get Protein so my stomach can heal well. Be prepared for the post surgery gas attacks. Ucky but they do pass...no pun intended, Good luck!
