  1. BD, yours is the first post I have read where a band and Bypass were involved. I hope you post often and keep us informed about your journey.

    Good luck, Mimi

Hey Mimi!! Thank you so much for the well wishes. You would be surprised of how many people that have had the gastric bypass & now are seeking revisions becuz they have gained back the weight that they lost. I will keep ya'll posted on my journey, I know this whole band thing is new to me so I am going to be here often seeking help and advice. How are you doing on your journey?

  2. SURGERY 3/1/10 2:30PM - 4:15PM; STARTED WALKING @ 5:10PM. I'm doing GREAT!(Pampered myself b4 surgery got my hair, nails, & toes done, who does that for surgery? Me that's who smh @ myself. Went to work for a few hours, left @ 11:15am 2go2 the hospital for surgery. Surgery went well! Home now resting no gas pains, no pains at all just a little discomfort. My Dr. found hernia's which he removed when he went to band me, greatful he used some the same incisions from my gastric bypass that I had in 2004. Since I'm banded over gastric bypass he filled my band to prevent slippage & 2 secure the fit, not sure how many cc's I have in my band already, will find out on my follow-up visit. I'm just surpised that I have no gas pains or any pain at for that matter. Wishing everyone well on their journey mines is about to begin!! ~Smooches~ :(

I have been wanting to get P90x for quite some time but always wondered how all the other stuff would benefit me (besides the work part) with the lapband. I am not banded yet but I want to have everything ready and on hand so I can get started so as i get the go ahead from my dr. to work out intensely!! I am so excited!! Thanks again!!

  6. Amy, I have Oxford. I just started a new full time job so the oxford is new as well....so far they have not denied any of the consults, tests or studys. I was told by the center that they deal with the insurance and I wouldnt need to worry about it....wew that was a relief I certainly didnt want to deal with that as well as all other stuff! How about you??

I see that you have Oxford Insurance I have Oxford too and I was just approved today!! It only took them 2weeks. They are pretty fast and don't have alot of hoops for folks to go through. I will you well I go pick my date next Wednesday. So hopefully I can have my surgery done March 1 or 2. Good Luck Wish you well on your weight loss goals & journey. :scared2:

  7. :crying: Thanks you guys!! i am so freaking excited!! I am hoping that I can get a date really quickly!! I would love to have it done by the end of this month but I will forgo to the first week in March since he only do surgeries on Monday & Tuesday. Which really bites!!! I was hoping that he did his surgeries on a Thursday or Friday so that I would have the weekend to recoup then back to work :scared2:

Yeahhhhhhhh!!!! I am going for the first appointment they have!!! Hot damn!!! :)

  9. HappyHomeCC,

Thanks for your very encouraging post! I have started drinking the Protein Shakes for breakast instead of having my usual sweet tea and cinnamon melt from McDonalds!!! My next goal is to drop sodas and caffiene. Like you said I think it will make it easier for me when I start my pre-op diet.

My psych consult is tomorrow and I have to attend one more support group meeting next Monday night. I am WAITING to hear from the cardiologist as to when my stress test and echocardiogram is being scheduled and after that everything should be ready to submit to the insurance.

Good Luck Happy Home!! Keep up great work!!! I've done alot of what your doing and I have lost weight already!! I guess my biggest problem is just the waiting portion it's driving me insane with worry.......Lmao!!

  10. HANG IN THERE YA'LL I know how frustrating it is to wait, use your time waiting wisely, start your supplements. let go of a bad habit , like Soda, make little changes now ... read labels and learn new recipes... if you use this as your training time life will be sooooooo much easier once you are banded ... trust me! Find a Protien drink you like. Start walking and doing some weights. Like I said it will be sooo much easier later if you start making the changes now....POSITIVE... THE GLASS IS HALF FULL!

This is one of the biggest decisions of your life.... life altering ;o)

Good luck to you all. Seize 2010! It is YOUR year!

Thank you so much for the encouragement!! I really appreciate it!!

  11. I am at my wits end!! I can’t take it!! All this waiting is killing me!! I don’t understand why does it take so long for simple reports to be done!! I did my part why does t take so long for the nutritionist and the psychologist to send their report to my doctor so that all information can be sent to the insurance company already!! Whyyyyyyyyyy?? Lord Whyyyyyyyyyyyy?? It’s in sane!! Or maybe I am going insane!! For the love of a french fry!!! I am so excited and anxious to start on my journey that I bout to bust!! I try to find stuff to do but that is not working!! I try doing my assignments for school but my focus just is not there!! I need help any suggestions?? Warm milk & a bubble bath did not help!!:thumbup:

  12. So did they just say the fill wasn't covered? I was banded in October '09 and I just received a bill from my Doc's office stating that I owed them $550 for the fill (plus I had another one since then, so basically I'm going to owe them over $1000?)....when I called UHC, they said that it's not that the fills aren't covered, it's how they are trying to bill it and that it's part of the global service - what does that even mean? They can't expect that because they paid a whopping $900 for the surgery (yep, that's all they paid the surgeon), that I would get lifetime fills for free, right?

Hey HDmama!! I am in the medical field and have been doing medical billing and collections for over 20yrs now and to answer your question when they say it's included in the global primary procedure.........you fills are at no cost to you. When the dr signs up with an insurance company and they sign a contract they agree to accept whatever is in their contract with each individual insurance compnay. The CAN NOT bill you for the fills when the insurance company denies it as "Included In The Primary Procedure" It the office tried to bill you for this then you contact your insurance company an have a rep call the dr. office to explain them how to correct their bill/or correct their billing process. I hope this has helped you out some. Any other questions youmay have on the billing nature feel free to ask me ~Smooches~ :)

  13. I am in the medical field and I will say this to you you can simply tell them that you are going for surgery you DO NOT have to disclose what type of surgery that you are having because of HIPAA laws. Which stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act its against the law for them to ask or discuss or even try to find out what type of surgery you are having or about any other health information concerning you. If you have time put in for it now use what time you have available to you. I don't see why they would deny you if you put in the time early enough. The other suggestions that others have gave you are interesting if you should decide to go that route!! Good luck on your upcoming surgery!! ~Smooches~ :)
