    Always throwing up

Hey Lauren, I have become the queen of this particular situation, my fiance was banded as well and never or rarely suffers from this and he is tighter then I am. Since day one I have suffered from that slime. Some say its because I am not chewing well and blah blah but I came to the conclusion that it always happens if I want to eat solid food and I haven't drank anything or had some sort of a soup like substance before eating something solid. I usually solve the problem by having some sort of a brothy soup before I eat and that also helps cut down the portion size and I can feel my insides loosening up. Once the slime thing began, I started researching and found out that our bodies naturally create that slime when I feels like you are choking, so your body thinks the food is stuck and starts producing the natural slime to help slide the food down, but unfortunately for us our body has no idea that we have this foreign tool in our bodies that creates the blockage, so the slime builds up and builds up until you truly are choking and you have no other choice but to run to the bathroom and let it come out. I hope this helps, if you need any help or ideas on how to get around it you can always message me!

    Can we talk pre-op diets?

My pre-op diet consists of three Isopure Protein shakes a day and three table spoons of low carb yogurt...nothing more is allowed... I'm on day four, I have 8 days left...i've dropped 8 pds. so far. I feel weak but just trying to remember that its only for a bit longer!
  6. Keep up the good work :)

    Last Meal Syndrome?

It is normal...your mind knows that things are about to change so you try and get everything thinking its the end of the world but in reality at some point in the future we will all be able to have these foods just in smaller portions and when we are closer to the goal weight we want and not every day...lol... I am having the similar experience of calling every meal the last meal and unfortunately not only does my doctor require a pre-op diet but he makes all his patients drop 20lbs prior to the surgery or else he will cancel the surgery. I was having difficulties sticking to the pre-op diet especially since my days are so long and what they ask is beyond even what I think should be normal and i've been a crazy dieter before...so I decided to do a couple of crazy things to get on task so that I can meet the goal.... First- I put all my credit cards in a bag of Water and put it in the freezer so that if I have the urge to go out to dinner or buy something on my way home...its obviously out of the question. Second- I bought gas cards for the next two weeks...so that I wont need to use my debit card to purchase gas. Third- I took out 40 dollars to last me from now til surgery date just in case of anything. Fourth- I gave my parents money to buy all the items I need for after the surgery and they are holding it at their house until the day of the surgery. Fifth- I cleared out my house of ALL food and have only the exact premeasured amount of everything I need up until the night before the surgery. So there you go....lol...it might sound crazy but I am trying to cover all my bases...especially since I am a self pay patient the last thing I want is to be told that I cant do my surgery and I have to wait until I have another opportunity to take time off.:blushing::tongue_smilie: My surgery date is March 26th so i'll just have to stick it out for two weeks...lol
  8. Hey...I saw your pictures and you look awesome!!! congrats! :)

  9. Thanks for your reply love, I appreciate it.. I guess it will all come down to the day of...since we are all different I guess we wont know what its going to be like til surgery day...lol..I am hoping for the best!

  10. Hey everyone...this question has been on my mind and I just wanted to hear what you all had to say about this... After seeing your scars (placement, healing, big/small, color)...if you were able to do it all over again, would you??? My doctor does the incisions like a tummy tuck kinda thing( straight across, 4 incisions with spaces in between), im not to happy about it and i'm not sure how I heal as i've never had surgery or deep scars so i'm just wondering how you all feel about the scar situation! Any replies would be awesome! Surgery set for March 26th

you look great!!! congrats on reaching your goal! you mustbe ecstatic!
  13. Hey everyone!! I am new at this and just need to hear some bandsters opinions! My surgery date is March 26th, so in the mean time I have been researching the odds and ends about the band and my doctor, I have heard great things and not so great things about my Dr., first off, he is extremely arrogant, not much of a people person but I have heard that he does a great job(so i've decided to give him a break on his lack of bed side manner), I have heard from one person that they were that 1% complication where their stomach was nicked and they got infected...this worries me, have any of you been operated by a doctor that had one or two complications with their patients. I have checked the Better Business Bureau and his state license and no law-suits or mal-practice suits have been filed, im not sure what other steps I should take to reassure myself that I will be in good hands when I go under the knife.... any advice or words would be so greatly appreciated!

    Freaking Out!!! Need Advice!

THANK YOU!!!! for replying, this has been the most intense thought on my mind. I have heard great success stories and obviously the bad ones, obviously just like doctors are humans, every human is different, so each person that has had this procedure has had a different experience, I also think that those who have not had much/ or little success may transfer that anger toward the whole experience in general. He did not share that information with me I came across it while research those who went to my doctor, some of the individuals, one in particular that I met in person is doing great has lost 140 and did his surgery in Dec 2009 so I can't say I haven't seen it first hand. I am just really scared, this will be my first surgery and as he told me stop reading, which I understand because it builds more and more fears but I want to know what are the worst case scenarios so that i'm not in shock if it happens. My really good friend told me the same thing, some of the best doctors are not the nicest! I guess for me, that i'm a baby about everything I expect for him to be caring and empathetic or something...lol Again thank you for replying!
