  1. Hi, I am interested in being a mentor for a newbie. I had lap band surgery Jan, 2002. I have maintained my weight loss for 10 years. I am a nurse and oversee support groups. I am good at keeping you positive and won't let you give up. Contact me if you are interested. Mona

    Hi Mona......

All I can say at this point is.........HELP! I had my surgery December 11, 2009. I did GREAT for awhile. Started at 261, got down to 153.........Then, in October of last year, I got laid off, went on paxil for depression and found out my thyroid was acting up again and was through the roof on the numbers. I have the under active thyroid, hence the reason I needed the lap band. Well, I have now hit a whopping 178 on the scale, I feel like crap, I've gone from a size 10 to a 14, pushng a 16, and literally, by the day, it feels like I am gaining. I was throwing up daily, now I only throw up at night or first thing in the morning from the intense acid. I'm seriously depressed and don't know what is wrong. I'm so upset.

  2. Hey everyone. I was banded Dec. 11, 2009. I have found out recently that I am now lactose intolerant (SUCKS) and that was causing gas. I still have gas a few days later. Seems like a lot more often than not. HOW do I get rid of this? Gas-x chewables, Gas-x strips are not working. HELP! I am miserable! All I want to do is throw up to relieve the gas pains!

  3. Oh man I so don't wanna share what I eat on a normal basis, but then again, I know I need to do something! I have stopped on the weight loss, but have also stopped on the exercising. Meanwhile, I am so not happy with where I am at, I started at 238 when I was banded on Dec 11, 2009 and I am at 176 today. I have had 3 fills, I am at 9cc's of a 10cc band apparently. I have MASSIVE reflux and heartburn, almost daily. I cannot eat ANY pastas, breads, potatoes, veggies, cereals, oatmeal, grits, meats, tortillas, anything acidic, chips, yogurt, cheese.....I am trying to think of the never ending list of CAN'T eats. I CAN tolerate SOME Soups, Water (which I do not drink nearly enough of), ice cream, fish SOMETIMES, sunflower seeds (SOMETIMES), iced coffee with cream and sugar (SOMETIMES).........So, for lack of wanting to try anything else that will stay down, I eat ice cream basically everyday, at least twice a day. I mix it with half and half for more calories. Between that and the not using my treadmill or Biggest Losers game on Wii, I am SURE that is why I have come to a halt on weight loss. What do ya'll think?

  4. Hey everyone! I am having a hard time after this last fill. I puke quite a bit, but I find it's with certain things, not all. And I am hungry all day, like every 2 hours, but was told to eat 3 large meals, not eat when I am hungry every 2 hours. I am at a plateau and need help getting through it!!

  5. Looking for anyone banded around that time so we can compare and help each other:thumbup:

Hey everyone! I was banded December 11th, I have gone from 230 to a VERY fluctuating 183-194. Depends on the day, the time, who knows anymore! It depresses the heck outta me, I can tell you that! I couldn't wait to hit 199, then 189........I get very depressed because since I lost weight so fast, I want it to continue. I've had 3 fills, this 3rd one kicked my butt! I can finally feel the restriction, but I also cannot eat very many things, and I usually throw up when eating. Needless to say, I don't think they'll be adding to my band April 29th. I'm tired of the few things I can eat, I'm upset because I'm not losing.......It feels like a dead end road right now and I know it shouldn't. I have plenty of time, but still. I'm doing the Body for Life workout program. Kicks my butt muscle wise, but I'm determined to shrink my skin too! Any suggestions on foods and such? That I can keep down?? I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian. LOL

  6. Honestly, I did the 5-day pouch test and it seemed to work for me. I am seriously considering doing it again, as I felt a major difference and better yet, the two pounds I was gaining and losing for 3 weeks were lost forever!!

    Good luck, mominkansas! :frown:

What is a "pouch test" and why would you do a complete unfill???

  7. Im here to vent because I know what you all are going to say !!

I finally hit 50lbs gone monday morning - was estatic,, happy,, felt like i was moving on forward..

today I am up 2!! WTH!

Cant say i know why - no idea what im doing wrong,, could possibly need a fill but im onthe edge where a fill could be too much..

is it the salt from the btl i had for dinner?

today i am really wishing i had bipass.

Congrats on hitting 50 pounds!! That's awesome, I'm yet to hit that! I feel like I'm stuck and I fluctuate like mad. I'm told by a few friends who have had the lapband not to weight myself everyday, not to stress, not to worry, yada, yada, yada...........Yeah, still PISSED! I'm trying to just go with the flow, but I think once we lose that much, we expect the rest to just keep falling off!:frown:

  8. I have. I do 1/2 a serving every morning in some almond milk and then take a 1/2 a serving of chewable or liquid Vitamin with Iron (the ultra mega has no iron) in the evening for my daily vitamin. I take Upcal D (2 times a day) which is a powdered Calcium that can be mixed in drink, Water, Soup, creamy/mushy foods foods, etc. for my daily calcium and a sublingual B12 once a week.

OMG WOW!!! That is AWESOME! I had surgery December 11th, I started at 230 and according to my scale I am 191.3. I feel like I'm stuck, but I just got my third fill and I haven't been able to eat very much at all! I've been living off of Protein Shakes. Any ideas??

  9. Hello Everyone! I am having surgery April 18th, I will be meeting with the nutritionist then. I was just wondering if anyone had any Vitamin advice. Right now, I take a Women's One A Day horse pill. But I know I won't be able to get that down after surgery. I've been looking at several different powder Vitamin supplements out that you can mix with Water?

Just curious on anyone's experiences or thoughts....

Hi Stacie! I had surgery December 11th and for the first 30 days, I took two liquid Vitamins I found that were PERFECT!

That's the one with Iron, I got the single bottle, 30 servings and I'll get you the link to the Advanced B-Complex as well!

And I also got the single bottle, 30 servings as well. After the 30 days, my horse pills went down just fine. It wasn't until my 3rd fill that I started having problems keeping food down. Hope this helps!!! these were the CHEAPEST I found too!
