  1. Happy Birthday ARKAWANA!

  2. Happy 62nd Birthday ARKAWANA!

  3. Palmela B. the time will pass fast. you can start to use the HMR shakes now to supplment a meal. Then when you are on them before the surgery it won't be so hard. Pickles will save you when you get on the shakes all the time. It takes the sweet taste away after awhile you want something to chew on dill pickles do the thing the bigger the better. Just remember this is a lifetime change.

  4. Hi, I just found your message today. How are you doing? I found the first few weeks tough and wonder if it was my age or I'm just a wimp. Anyway it does get better. Just had my 1st fill, looking forward to #3. Let me know how you're doing. Lynne

I had hic-cups after eating to much just could tell that last bit was to much and I really regrete it. The dry heaves are when you had something that was to much to digest, Back up and go back to soups and shakes and then work back up. Good luck

I was banded Oct 20, 2010 and go in next week for my first fill. I do have a scale and at first I was on and off it alot now the new has wore off and once a week after a shower I get on and take a look it is always Good News, Not to say I only shower once a week!!!LOL I have lost 10 pounds from surgery from 275.5 to 265.5 in 3 weeks :biggrin:and I have eaten thing that were not on my diet, LOL chips, M&M, pizza, diet coke from sonic. But that was just to make me feel normal, I think I didn't make a meal out of anything "Bad" I know what I have to do and each week it is getting easier, It is hard to teach an old Dog New Tricks or Traites of how to eat. You will have a morphin drip or other drugs to help with the pain. You might get a button if you need more it will give you more. The pain will be light with all the drugs, The sooner you get off the drugs the better. the third day is the hardest take the pain medicine that day and rest. the next day and every day after that will be better. You will only drink 3 one oz medicine cups of liquid an hour after surgery for the first four days, no hungry. You will start adding jello, popsycles, creamed soup, broth, 1/2 cup at the most do not drink 30 minutes before or after you eat. protein drinks 3 a day don't count as water that is your meals. write everything you put in your mouth down and the time you did it. the times and days all run together the few days after surgery, brain fog DRUGS. All in all it was not bad The best decision I have every made. one week old band 10/20/10 wednesday. I feel great. Pain free Drug free. Good luck smile and walk the halls as soon as they let you up. GasX tablet 3 a day when you get home, first 4 days very important. Listen to your stomach it has a voice now. cherie

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

COTTON MOUTH will go away when drugs go away, it is a side effect from them, apple juice seems to help wake up the taste buds, the three day was my hardest I took pain meds that day every 4 hours then it was over gas x every 6 hours tables, now I am almost a week out wednesday The brain fog has lifted and I feel fine great. I am listening to my stomach when it says it's full I stop, I save all my jello and puddening containers for creamed soups so I know just how much I am eating each time I don't drink with a meal at least 30 minutes before or after. Other wise I have a drink at my side at all times to sip. My food taste are totally changed things I would never eat taste pretty good. Like refried Beans+ Salsa+ Sour Cream warmed up put in my small container small bites enjoying every bite. I hope everyone is hanging in there each day will get better then the last, It like that song on Annie "The sun will come out tomorrow tomorrow," love to all, bless you all, cherie

Kerry: Thanks for the reply, The fog has finally lifted and I can think clearly again. Even with out the pain drugs it took two days to clear my head. My emails were a blurr,.,. You said "Diet coke" my doc said No Diet Cokes they will cause gas ???? I was addicted to diet coke before the suregery then I stopped all carbinated drinks for 3 weeks before surgery. A fountain drink sounds so good right now but I am afraid of the gas pain. I was one of the lucky ones with no gas pain. I had cream of wheat this morning with my protein drink, and juicey juice to drink this afternoon. I am down to 270 today from surgery 275.5. I had my bm on the 4th day after surgery pretty soft when the erge hit go don't wait. lol I feel like everything is going to be alright, I had second thoughts on the 3rd day "Like what was I thinking" I am almost 60 and teaching an old dog new tricks is really hard. But I was still in the fog and know I can think straight I know it was the best thing I have done for me. I will be healthy and get to do more things in the years to come. I have always wanted to go to Australia. You are so lucky to live there. I live in Arkansas we are going into fall and winter, alittle snow and fire in the fireplace. Well take care, Hope to talk again

Arkansas LapLand: The surgery on the 10/20/10 went great. Woke up without any pain and I was expecting the elephant on my chest, never saw her so she must of been off for the day. I got up that afternoon and walked around the hall circle of rooms 5 time and then 5 times a few hours later. very important: get off all caffene 2 weeks prior to surgery or you will get a headache from hell. Wednesday night I stopped taking the morphin because I thought it was giving me rebound headache. Could not sleep all night head pounding, They could not give me tylenal I was getting a morphin drip and had a button I could push if I needed more, When I pushed button the head ache went away but it made me sleep too 4 hours then wake up headache back. So I just got up and walked the halls all night 17 laps, I took my art supplies and draw pictures, I listen to a hypnosis take and the head ache finally went away. Second day doctor told me it was the caffen not the morphin head ache, they took me off morphin and on liquid tylnall every 4 hours. 6 small holes glued closed taped on stomach, not pain, touch tender only. 4 hour ride home seatbelts rubbed stomach made it tender and hard. I stopped to walk around every hour to stop bllod clots and stiffness. Came home sourted out my meds I could take again and took my first solid pills,. went fine. They gave me tiny medcine cup to take 3 full every hours of juice or Water that 's all. That took some getting use to I wanted to pick of a glass and drink the whole thing. My heads still foggy but I wanted to give you all the most information so you would know what to expect. It was not painful like I expected. Even today the 3 day not bad, oh yea they told me in the hospital the 3 day is the worse then it goes up hill from there, If you are going to get gas the 3 day is the day. I have a little gass put I am taking gas x every 2 to 4 hours. I am resting and doing things I enjoy doing drawing watching movies. Just be prepared to hurry up and wait that is how the hospitals run these days. Don't let it upset you all thing in there own time. Just relax and give the reins over to them. Well it is 5 am and I am going back to bed for awhile,.I hope this helped someone. I will pray for everyone, I did feel the prayers, thank you. cherie ps. I will post some funny pictures I took at the hospital, later
