It's time for us Pupi. You and I are on the same wave length with the sleep (hee, hee). I'm going to pack my roller bag for my family with all my technology and clothing/supplies that I will need, plus, my pillow. It's on for us and let's try and holla at eachother tomorrow. I pray that we both have an easy surgery and great recovery days!!!!

  6. First I want to congratulate you about surgery!!! How wonderful. I also want to thank you for your kind words and encourage you to use the list as a guide. Your journey is a learning experience and no matter how much you know going in....some of those old habits may take a little practice. IF you do end up breaking rule #1 I want you to never feel shame or beat yourself up because we cannot change the past. All we have is right now and that's the only thing you can change. I will repeat again that it is easier to not do something 100% instead of 99%. In case you missed the great article that was posted in these comments by another member (Isereno), make sure and read this article too. I thought it was wonderful! http://www.gretchenrubin.com/happiness_project/2013/01/want-to-be-free-from-french-fries-or-why-abstaining-may-be-easier-than-you-think/ Be free pupichupi!! Thanks Yvonne, I will check that out!!!
  7. Kendra, I am so sorry for how your brother responded to you. I know how you feel unfortunately, I have a big brother and little sister, and My brother and I really have been on the outs for a very long time in fact we haven't really talked to each other (not that I haven't tried) in over 12 years he doesn't approve of my lifestyle, not that I live any crazy way. I am involved in a mixed racial relationship with a puerto rican, and he doesn't approve. I had children with a puerto rican and he doesn't approve, and my kids he will talk to and play with but he won't speak to me and we live approx. 15 min. from each other. I know this has nothing to do with the way your brother treated for what your doing, but in life we have to do what is right and good for us, we can't live to please everyone else. We were born with our own body, brain and life, to live it without concern of others who are in our lives. I know it's hard cause he is your big brother, and trust me I think about my brother daily, but I can't control the way he thinks about me no more than you can control your brother. I love my brother and always will, but I am not going to let his negativity bring me down. I will continue to live my life the way I want. As for the Detox, what works for some doesn't work for everyone. If he doesn't understand maybe ask him to go to one of your doctors appointments and show him what it's all about. Maybe he will change his mind. He might just be worried??? Well Good Luck!!!
  8. JMCP, I am having my surgery tomorrow, and this weekend I was thinking the same thing, but I have someone I work with that had it done, and she eats things I never knew you could after this surgery, but you just have to push past these feelings and remember what your doing it for. I need this now more than ever cause I have tried so many things to lose the weight and nothing worked for me, and this is my last option. Believe in yourself and remember that Coconut cream pie is what got you where you are now, do you really want to stay where you are now? Good Luck
  9. I feel this way all the time, cause of all the times I tried to lose weight and it failed, I am just starting my journey, and I read a post from someone on here called super dieters. If you find it you should read it. After reading that I have decided that I am not going to allow myself to cheat or have bad food. Now I can say that now, and after a year or whatever it takes to get to where I want to be I could change my mind, but i think that as long as I put forth the effort to stay away from the junk I used to eat, I should be ok. I am going to stock my fridge with fresh fruit and cut up vegetables and always have some with me so that I can try to stay healthy, cause as you say your not being here for your 15 month old is incentive enough for you, I also have 2 kids a 9 and 12 year old that depend only on me. I have to be here for them, and they are my world and I will do whatever it takes to be here and show them the right way to live. So good luck in your journey, and I hope the best for you!!!
  10. Yvonne, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for posting this, I am actually having surgery tomorrow and I am super excited, but I was struggling these past few days with the issue of will I ever be able to or even want to eat the foods I love now while I am heavy, and I have decided to follow the 6 steps rule, and I definitely am going to follow step one. I don't want to be trapped like I am now, and I want to be able to get to where I have always wanted to be HEALTHY. So thanks again, I am going to copy and paste these steps to a word document and print out a bunch and post them everywhere I can see it when I grab for foods and remember what you said!!! I am going to start my new life off right.

    March surgery

Man I hope my doctor doesn't tell me I can't drive, cause I would be lost. Although my boyfriend drives most of the time, if I want to go somewhere I don't want to depend on anyone!!!

    How many calories?

Lorraine, Yes you are supposed to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior and then just clear liquids for a little bit after, and I have been on my liquid diet for 2 weeks already, tomorrow is my surgery, I have been doing liquids only since the 5th, but you have to remember not all doctors ask for you to do 2 weeks of a liquid diet some ask for more some ask for less it all depends on your doctor and where you live. So just depends. But good luck, being new is a good thing, just make sure you talk to your doctor, and get all your answers. Don't leave anything on the table. I found that is the best thing, and if you have questions that you don't think you necessarily have to ask your doctor, ask people here, they are more than willing to help and answer whatever it is you have questions to.
  13. In the Pre-op Diet does anyone know how many calories I should be taking in? My boyfriend asked me last night how many I was having, and I just calculated it I am only taking in approx. 700 calories, cause I have 2 shakes a day and 1 Protein bar, and then I usually have a yogurt, then I just drink Water through out the rest of the time? I don't know that it matters much now since my surgery is wednesday but I just realized it and now thats probably why I am so hungry all the time?

    2 more days to surgery

Thanks SugarFreeMe, I am really working hard to not eat any of that stuff, and so far I have done great, but just the smells they are a whole new sense it feels like and I am just like oh give me some. LOL, I didn't do it though!!! I am very proud of myself how I have pushed myself to conquer this so far. My boyfriend wanted Burger King yesterday and so on the way home I swang through and grabbed it for him and OMG, the smell of it made my mouth Water, and when I got home he asked if I would like a french fry and I said nope I am not doing it. He feels bad that he is there eating it while I am there and can't touch it, but I told him don't feel bad it's just making me stronger. So Thanks and good luck tomorrow!!!
  15. So this weekend, I was talking to my boyfriend, and we were talking about the surgery, and I told him how this was going to change not just my life but both our lives, cause when it comes to the weekends and we do date nights, we aren't going to be able to just go out to eat and pick whatever to eat. I told him for a while I probably wouldn't be able to go out to eat, and the loving man that he is, said that's ok, we can do other things on date nights, we can go to the movies, or we can can go do something that is fun but a workout too. I love him so much he is such a great guy. Although I was also thinking how hard it's going to be on me. I am not going to lie, I didn't get the way I am cause I ate healthy, I love food, and it sort of makes me nervous that I won't be able to eat a lot of things for a very long time if ever again. I mean I have been on this liquid diet now since the 5th and I feel good, but this weekend was a hard test for me, I had my sons birthday party, and we had pizza for it, and it smelled so good, I just wanted one piece, but I was good, I had my shake and I did what I was supposed to, but then we got home and there was so much pizza and cake still left over and I wanted so badly to eat something and I had to keep reminding myself why I am doing this. So by sunday night I was craving something and I so what I did was I ate a couple peanuts that are in the shell, and i made sure I chewed them so much that it was mush by the time I swallowed. Does anyone else feel this way, or did feel this way this close to surgery day??? Please let me know.

    March surgery

Motivation is key for me too. Just had surgery yesterday. I have a bikini hanging up in my room that I haven't worn since I was 19 lol. I will be able to get that sucker on again!!I'm the same way. Last year on my trip to Florida bought this awesome cutout swim suit I'm sure the sales clerk was thinking Really? Lol. Hanging up in my room so I see it every time I go in my bedroom. March 24th is the day!! Lets do this!!! Long road, who cares what they think when you bought the bikini, lol they have no substantial part in your life!!! I would go in that store after you lose the weight wearing the bikini and be like and what!!! Lol Dolfinld good for you!! You show them what you can do???

    protein shakes

Hi Jennifer, I am also on my preop diet, but I have already been on for a week and a half, I had to buy my preop diet from my doctors office too but they didn't give me a choice like you have I had to get the only one they had which is metagenics, and they only give you chocolate and vanilla shakes and the vanilla is gross, and the chocolate is ok, I take the chocolate one and add Peanut Butter to is, um yummy. I hear though that the Unjury is a good one and not expensive at all. The one I got with 10 days of shakes, the Fiber stuff that is nasty, and the Vitamins was $230. I don't have to buy my post surgery stuff from them, as I use the whey protein from walmart only $15.00 and it's got 30 grams of protein per scoop. Well good luck!!!
  24. OMG 5 more days and I have my bypass!!! Woo Hoo, I am excited and the weekend is here??? I am so excited!!!
