  1. IF, my economic situation was diff., I would not be here trying to find a cheaper place to go. $250 is just NOT an option for me or my family at this point.

    Thanks anyway.

This is the post that set me off! I simply told of my research regardig pricing and that $250 is a good price for a fill and this is what I got... so Wahhhh... if you want to cry about it, and yell at people, go yell at your husbands employer! You don't need to be YELLING on here!

Grow up and quit expecting everyone to pay for your mistakes... no one got you fat, you did it on your own!

  2. You are correct... we don't all have the same bills/needs... some of us live within our means and take care of elder family members as well as our own children... some of us even do it after horible divorces that leave us homeless with nothing more than our smiles to get us started again. I do not have a high paying job, I am simply a hard worker who works my butt off to take care of my mortgage, 3 children, 83yo grandmother (with no Income), and myself. $250 is a lot of money to me... and takes me 3 days to earn... but without my health I can not provide for my family, so it is a priority to me.

Maybe you can pray for someone else to pay for it for you, so you can continue to pay for whatever it is you and your husband find as priorities.

Good luch in your search for a "cheap" doctor.

  3. Sounds like you won't be getting a fill if you are unwilling to make a sacrifice and pay for it. A good majority of us on this forum sacrificed a lot and had to pay out of pocket for the whole thing... so i don't think you are going to get much sympathy on here for having to pay for a fill.

Glad you had good insurance and have not had to "pay a penny" so far. Maybe you can find someone on a corner somewhere that will inject you with something "cheaper"... but if you want a reputable doctor to do a real fill you will have to pay... and $250 is at the bottom of the fee scale for a fill... unless you are willing to risk problems.

  4. I had a salad and a mini burger/QUOTE]

The two things you ate are two that I was tod to definatelly be carefull with and not try the first 4-6 weeks... salad and bread... I hope you haven't slipped your band, but you may really want to watch your choices and check out what others on this site that have had success have had problems with... I am guiding myself by their recommendations as well as my doctor.

I was banded on January 8, 2010 and wouldn't think of trying bread yet, or a salad... lettuce is hard to digest even without the band, as is bread.... Be careful!!! And definately go see your doc if your pain persists... you only get one body, be carefull with it!

  5. I went to a LAP-BAND® seminar on Monday and the doctor there said he had a girl come to him wanting to get her fills from him and had had her surgery in Mexico. I don't know how he knew I think she said she was able to eat just like normal so he checked her out. Come to find out they put in her portal but didn't put in the band! Something about there financials system there...there was no way she could sue or get her money back! She was just out of that $. That is really the only thing I have heard about Mexico LAP-BAND®! Hope this helps you make your decision...kinda like that saying if it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't!

These seminars are designed to bring in money for the doctor that is hosting the seminar... i think they will tell you anything they can to scare you.

I debated the band for over 3 years before doing it and know dozens of people who went to mexico for the surgery and not one that had any problems. Other than not following the rules and not loosing the weight... but that's not a banding issue...

  6. I was successfully banded on 1/8/2010 by Dr. Lopez Corvala. Everything was fantastic from the planning to current. The hospital was beautiful and clean, the surgery and the staff were wonderful and the after care as far as phone calls and such (for my own dumb mistakes- not following directions) has been wonderful too. I paid $5995 and was picked up at the airport and taken to the hospital for 2 nights then a 5 star hotel for a night then back to the airport. It was a great experience. I highly recommend Dr. Lopez Corvala and his team. They represent health care as it should be!

  7. i am in HELL right now... i feel sick and the saliva is discusting when it pours out my mouth and makes me feel like i'm going to puke. i am starving! i called the dr tonight and was told to do only hot liquids tonight and tomorrow and to call tomorrow. i just want to die, it sucks... starting to wonder whichis worse...fat or sick... i am 5 days post op and don't know if i'll make it... feeling like i might not right now.
