  1. Hello All Been reading all the posts. I was banded in Dec, 2006. I have had maybe 3 fills, Had a lot of restriction and have thrown up alot. The last fill I got at the end of August with somewhat of restriction. But then a week later, my Dad passed away , and I kept getting sicker and sicker. with so much throwing up that I could not keep anything down. I was not near my doctors. so my brother and sister in law insisted that I go to the ER which they took me too. they first wanted to know if I had the flu, and I said I assure you that it is not the flu. At any rate , they called in the specialist in that area who does the lapbands. They were going to do a barium swallow, and then when the doctor came in, he decided not to. He asked me what size band I had, didn't know and how much exactly was in the band, didn't know. He said that I should have a card to tell me that. which I didn't have. Anyhow he injected the needle into the port and removed all the saline. I was a bit upset because that was my saline, thought that maybe he would take just a little to relieve the band but he took it all. And told me that I shouldn't be sick like that. and that he thought I should give my stomach a rest,. WHich I am. He told me to contact my doctor when I got home, which I did but my doctor was on vacation so they did call me back this week, Anyhow have not been sick since the saline was removed. Felt so much better. not sure if the stress added to the tightness or not. But now I am scared because I feel very very little restriction and that is scaring me. I don't want to be sick but also don't want to eat bad. I have lost apporoximately 43 lbs since the surgery which is not nearly enough. And as I read here , the sweets are the things that go down easier and that is what I turn to, big mistake. Please someone write to me. I see the doctor on tues and not sure what the verdict will be. I am so worried that this band is not going to work for me, almost wish I had had the gastric bypass. ANyhow that is my story for now. Donna in NH

    Sliming and Vomiting...

Hello Trinity''s Mom, I have had problems with meat and other things staying down. I know if they are going to bother me they do right away and until they are up out of the stomach I am not going to feel better and that usually means vomiting one way or the other and sometimes I have to make myself because I know that will make me feel better and I know it has to come up. Please write back I was banded DEC 06 and have had 3 fills I think..Email me please. Donna MY email is Mammysm@aol.com

  4. Hello out there, I got a fill in April the 10th actually. I found it to be very restrictive. I am on my second fill now, the first didnt' make that much difference. So this one really is, I have gotten pretty sick with it and very limited as to what I can eat. When I called the doctor he wasn't in, But they suggested that I do protein drinks and liquids for a few days to see if it calms down the stomach, and it did, and was fine for awhile now I am getting sick alot again, the bright side is I am losing weight again. I am trying to tolerate the fill and not go for an unfill. I have no problems with some stuff, I can eat mashed potatoes with ff gravy and a veggie with that, I can eat pea soup. the Habitant, that is good with me. I am hoping the the band does loosen up a bit on its own. It can be very frustrating . I sure don't look at food the way I used to. I am just thankful when there is something that I can actually get down and at that point it tastes sooooo good. Keep in touch and feel free to write, Donna aka Mammysm@aol.com
  5. Hello out there. I had my banding on Dec. 29th 2007 Until I got my second fill I didn't feel much restriction. I had the fill on APril 10th. I have really had quite the time with it, But I am doing what they told me too. I was vomiting alot. Called, they told me to try doing just liquids for a few days. to calm the stomach down, that did help . But as I said I am pretty restricted, which is what I wanted but it is very hard to find the things that you can tolerate. I don't think I am geting in quite enough protein, and calories. And the scales are not going down much. I think that once can actually eat more that the wt. will go down, The body tends to hold onto the fat. the body is a funny thing. But I refuse to have any of the fill taken out, as long as I can get somethings in and can drink protein drinks just need more of it. I really could use some support, dont' get alot at home, but my mom helps me alot, she had a gastric bypass yrs ago and she was very sick so she is really my inspiration in this and shoulder to cry on. GOd Bless her..Please feel free to email me , Iwould love the support. Donna my email is Mammysm@aol.com Please write..
  6. Hello all. I was banded on Dec 29th and I am discouraged with so little weight loss. I am drinking and eating as I should and all of my eatingis just protein, I can relate to what you are going through, I go to the dietician tomorrow and hope that she will sway me in the right direction. I have been walking in the house only, I am still a little sore, had a hernia fixed also. And the weather lately is crappy, but I am going to start using my tread mill tomorrow . Each day is one more behind me. Thx for listening. Donna in NH

    The Scales

Hello out there all of you Banders. I was banded on Dec 29th and I am feeling pretty good for the most part. My concern is that the scales are not really moving fast at all, I am postop 10 days now. I am scared it won't work for me I guess because of past failures. What may I be doing wrong.? I am eating very little and basically all protein and drinking as much liquids as I can push into me. Has this happened to anyone else in the beginning. I am so paranoid.. PLease give me your input, I am going to the dietician. tues. and I am not hungry after eating my some portions...Please write or email ...Mammysm@aol.com Donna in NH
  8. Hello out there everyone. I was banded on Dec 29th 06. I think I am doing alright so far. but what is kind of upsetting to me is the scales are not going down much at all. Is this normal I am 10 DAYS out now. I am certainly not eating too much and struggling to get the liquids in but getting most of those . I know I do not want to get discouraged, it is not like I am going back and have it undone. i

Like puddings, broth, soups..etc. I did have a little problem tonight had some cottage cheese and small pcs of turkey, just couldn't eat, think I had a gas bubble and got up and walked around for a few mins and then was alright. thought it was coming back up. Eight days Post-op

Hi I was just reading your post. I had the lapband done on Dec. 29th. I also had a hernia repaired at the same time. I came home on Sat. I was and am very sore, and then the pain med they gave me made me vomit, where I thought I would die. so got off that, am trying to take crushed up Vicodan , also gaggy. I am trying to just suffer it out for the time being I am not consuming alot of food (liquids) CIBs 3 a day, and also fluids, and can have one soft food such as a sugar free pudding, etc. I am not hungry, I think I might like to eat something but haven't the feeling kind of passes. Please feel free to write and compare notes.. I find that I sleep alot too.. Keep in Touch, Donna SMith in NH

  17. I am scheduled for my surgery on Dec. 29th and I am a wreck worrying about keeping the weight off pre surgery. I have to have the amt of the wt they want me to lose first off right up to the date of surgery or they wont' do it....no fair but that is what they said, I am in NH and having the surgery done at Portsmouth Hosp. Does any one have an suggestions to help me stay focused and keep the pre wt off. and maybe even more since scales do vary from place to place. and I am so worried...thanks for listening...Donna inNH
  18. Hello All Hello Bella , hope that you are feeling better now. And I sure do hear you when you talk about little people. My daughter in law has dwarfism, and thus my granddaughter too has dwarfism, I am so worried that my granddaughter will be picked on. As for my daughter in law she has like 17 major surgeries to have her legs stretched. She has had some incredible pain going through it and she really didn't gain much, but she is a beautiful young lady, And my granddaughter is too. My son who is 6ft 2 inches , they say opposites attract. and their son is very tall. But that is only an example of things we cannot change. I am waiting for my date. I am in NH and will be in Portsmouth for the surgery. I hope that some of my buddies are out here and will write to me too and everyone as far as that goes. I have been working at this since June and know from where I stand that it is a very long wait for us who are in Portsmouth. We really had to go through alot of appointments and we all at a weight that we have to lose before the surgery, which I am not to yet but am struggling to get there. Please write any of you and I promise to answer, Donna Smith in New Durham, NH
