    Favorite Protein shake recipes

Keep the recipes coming, love 'em. I like this one for a change of pace: 2/3 C skim milk 1 scoop Believe Caramel Latte Protein powder 1 1/2 tsp FF instant banana pudding dash of ground cinnamon I could add ice, but haven't yet. Kinda reminds me of bananas foster, w/o rum....maybe I'll get some rum flavor extract or something.
  3. crystal light and the companion ocean spray. expand your definition of "broth"...I detest plain chicken broth from the box, but pull the broth off of a minestrone or other "real" soup...[basque Cabbage, anyone?] and its really satisfying.
  4. Solid foods already! Oh my! Doc has me advancing myself, but even so he really wants me to move SLOWLY. can't even imagine trying right now. Heck, the 2tbl of mush just about kills me, so I can only imagine that would be what, 2 bites of food? Anyway, I know once "food" starts, then my weightloss will slow down a bit and I'm content to kick off a few more pounds first :-) I do miss chewing though. Not sure how it will all work, my braces don't have my back teeth completely lined up, so I can chew, but don't think I can completely kill anything. there were small pieces of tuna that I couldn't pulverize and last night I noticed tiny specks of barley that my food processor couldn't mush out that fit between the space in my teeth. hope its all ok. maybe I just think too much? Are you ready to go back to work? I'm ambivalent, been fairly easy to stay on routine here at home. I am dreading getting dressed on Monday. Not sure what will fit, and the bra issue is definately worrisome.

    Post Op Visit

Mine was yesterday....felt quick...almost had to make him look at the incisions...LOL! we talked briefly about when to call for a fill...bam! Done. Kinda disappointing....frankly, its almost like "you're done, no need to talk" with the program coordinator as well. I'm not a high maintenance patient, but do have some questions that I feel kinda dumb calling about, more from the feeling that I'm interrupting than anything. Started to notice the change when I got within a week of the surg. No contact at all from the program coordinator post-op at all. Oops, sorry to vent...hope yours is a productive visit.
  6. Hi all you new bandsters! I was banded the 19th, and want to let you know that feeling better is just around the corner . The first several days it was just as you are all describing. Heck, I didn't even check my computer for the 1st 3 days home after spending 2 days in the hospital. Day 6 was still rough, but the turning point came at Day 7, and I am feeling exponentially better each day to where today, Day 11 I feel mostly normal. I know its difficult struggling through a protien shake [it took me more that 3 hours to get one down!], but take the time to rest and heal. Sip you liquids, walk and sleep. In no time flat you'll be right as rain.
  7. doing good....better each day. how are you? Almost forgot I had someone playing in my guts a bit over a week ago until I picked up my foot to step into my pants and OUCH! LOL! Loving the beginnings of mushies...had 2 tbl of tuna salad that was ground to a smooth mush for lunch...funny, feels like I should be chewing the "grit" but cant......loving hummus. Now struggling with how to balance the drink, drink, drink with not drinking for an hour and half after my 2tbl of paste....have you started mushies yet? what are you eating?

  8. Hi! doing better everyday...how about you? I had my post op appointment with my doc yesterday and he is very pleased with my progress. healing well, weight down...now just get all my energy back LOL! Hope you are well!

    Hi Im New.

Hi! I'm new too....joined the Band-ed Gang on 4/19. There are several of us newbies, so I suspect this thread will have a lot of interest. :scared2: Let the recipes roll!
  11. took 2 weeks, and d*m* glad I did! There is no way I would have been ready to roll yesterday morning....LOL. This is the toughest bounceback I've had, not sure if it was cumulative, being the 4th abdominal surg in 6 years or if it was the hernia repair...all I know is I only left my little yard for the 1st time today, and still don't want to drive.....
  12. good to hear you are doing well. Congrats on the NSVs! I'm losing per the scale, but don't see it yet.....too funny......Am I understanding correctly? Are you eating already? I'm still on full liquids...won't get advanced until at least Wed when I see the doctor. Pain last night, not sure how much was bowel/gas/or surg....it really didn't matter, it made for a rough night. I'm going to try to get out of the house today [thought i was going to yesterday...didn't happen :-)] Have a great day!

  13. Sorry to be so indelicate, but I'm struggling a bit......had serg on Monday the 19th....was required to do the full Milk o' mag cleanse so was "empty" on Monday. Its now Sunday, so a full week later and nothing...just some gas. However, it feels like I need to "go", but nothing...very crampy and uncomfortable. What can/should I do? How long does it normally take to get things "moving" again? I've been adding a spoon of Benefiber to my shakes the last couple of days and have made sure to do some walking everyday....now trying a bit of coffee.....HELP!
  14. Thanks, I'll give Miralax a try...this is miserable and nice to know i'm not alone.......hey didn't someone say someting about loving company once?
  15. How are you doing? Can you believe its been a week already? I'm really glad I took 2 weeks off, as I haven't even left the house yet! Its still a struggle to get all my protien in everyday, and not all the systems are running "regular" yet..KWIM?

What are you up to? fill me in!

    April Bandster Bunnies

wanted to check in and offer some encouragement to our end-of-the-month bandster bunnies! I know most of us have moved into the post-op world, but you are still out here having the pre-op jitters. i won't lie and say it hasn't been tough, but its all worth it when you see your BMI going down and knowing that its for your health. Best of luck to all of you!
  17. I am intriged that noone seems to factor pain meds into the return to work analysis. Seeing how loratab is liquid vicodin, it would seem that DRIVING to work would be problematic unless you are pain med free....just because a person "feels ok" doesn't mean that they are not driving under the influence.... for me, I'm really glad I took 2 weeks, as this is the end of the 1st week and I'm still hurting with pain meds every 3-4 hours....can't imagine going to the office in 2 days.

    How many of you.....

I was banded the 19th. My hats off to anyone who goes home the same day....even with an overnight it was tough. obviously, if you are "outpatient" you are outpatient, but if you have the opportunity to just relax and recoop, i'd urge you to take it....its not like you won't be fully responsible for your recovery soon enough!
  19. your are not alone in the sore department! this is rough!! I've done the baby thing, and a hysterectomy..nothing like this LOL! Just trying to stay comfortable, walk a bit and rest....really bored of liquids....but can't even imagine trying to get anything else down. hang in there!

  20. I was told SF popsickles were ok....if you are careful about the rest of your carbs, you should be ok....if curious call your dietician.

    Need Some Support

Are you upping your exercise as you lose? If you are not working out, and continuing to push yourself, then you may be dealing with a bottomed out metabolism that is grabbing everything you put in......
  24. I'll be a Banded Bunny tommorrow as well. Arrival time, 7am with kickoff at 830. I will also be staying overnight, and sadly have been told not so much as Water by mouth until after radiology gets done with me sometime on Tues . I know each doctor is different, but when people routinely go home same day, I have a hard time believing its essential to leave me w/out anything by mouth from Midnight tonight thru Tues afternoon....but the die is cast and I have faith in my surgeon so I will just have to make due. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Tues. Best of luck to my 19th litter-mates!
  25. I havent had a fill yet, but have had to give myself injections forever and have had some minor skin surgery....sometimes the sting from the local is worse than just getting the poke done...
