  1. Happy 48th Birthday magpye!

  2. Thank goodness I found this post! I was banded on May 7th and am STARVING! My problem is that I despise the protein drinks and shakes - they are all too sweet! I have had enough broth to last a lifetime. Thankfully, I got to have some mushy food last night. I had refried beans (as recommended by my surgeon) and I think I ate them too fast. A lot of discomfort for about 2 hours. Today I go for my post op and then two classes - soft food and then solids. I am looking forward to adding other things. This is really overwhelming. I also get the panic thing about our rapid initial weight loss and then it slowing down. This is how it has to be to be healthy and I think I just have to surrender to it. Thank you all so much for posting here!
  3. I don't have many fat friends either. I did decide to tell them I was doing this (I had surgery last week 5/7/10.) I am getting a lot of support but my secret fear is, "What if I screw this up and I don't make it work?" What will I say then? I know I will have to educate many of them about this - it is not as rapid as bypass, there are plateaus, etc. I guess it is about balancing expectations of yourself and everyone else in your life. I know I have to trust my path and that my true friends will continue to stand by me.
  4. Those are the same requirements I have, too. I am on day 6 and so glad to be adding some real protein instead of those protein shakes!
