.What is everyones goal by Jan 1st 2007???????????????
My realistic goal is to lose at least 20 pounds and make it into twoterville. But I'm really hoping to lose a good 30 pounds by then.

Have a great time! I love amusement parks and can't wait to ride without the fear and anxiety (and humiliation) of not fitting on rides.

I'm canadian and am having the procedure in Canada. By the time you figure in the exchange rate and travel expenses, I think it would be more expensive to have it in Mexico. And who needs the hassle of trying to find a canadian surgeon for aftercare.

What's the difference between an Inamed lapband and a Swedish band (SAGB)?

Has anyone started their preop diet early? I'd like to do 4 weeks (instead of 2 weeks) of liquid diet in order to lose more weight but I'm worried I'll be cheating by week 3 and sabotage my liver-shrinking diet right before surgery.

Any other new members being banded in November?

Thanks for sharing that info! Does this only apply to pills that you swallow whole or does it also apply to pills that you crunch down?

That dress is beautiful! I want it too! Where did you find it?

I'd like to join the Christmas challenge. I have no idea how fast or slow my weight loss will be after surgery. I'm hoping to drop at least 10 pounds on my Optifast preop diet. I know a lot of people don't lose any weight during the first few weeks after surgery so I'll set a conservative goal of 1 pound per week for myself.
Please add me to your list as:

I worry about it too. Just like most of you, I've been on every diet known to man, I'm fairly successful at losing weight but I can't keep it off! I always revert back to the same old habits. I worry that after a few months of having the lapband, I'll somehow revert back to my bad habits and eat around the band.

Not quite in October (Nov. 1) but I'd like to tag along in this thread anyways to learn from all of you October bandsters.

Yikes! Don't tell me I'm all alone in November :phanvan

Happy to find a forum just for us canucks!
I have a really stupid question...what exactly are the "band rules" I keep reading about? Are they the rules in the lapband guide for patients?

Hi all, I'm new and my surgery is scheduled for Nov. 1. My BMI is 52, I currently weigh 317 (all-time high around 336) and I'm 5'6.
I'm so excited about getting this band because for the first time in a very long time, I finally have hope and I truly believe that I can lose this weight and more importantly keep it off for good!

Hi All, Anyone else getting banded this November? I'm scheduled for November 1!
I've been lurking on this site for the past few weeks and I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about the lapband and what to expect after surgery.
I'm wondering what I should be doing now, 6 weeks pre-op, to prepare for surgery and living with the band. I considered starting the liver-shrinking diet right away but I'm afraid I would fall off that plan before my surgery date. Maybe I should concentrate on increasing my exercise...cause as it is I'm not doing any LOL!

My doctor is more conservative and wants his patients to restrict fluids to no more than 1 cup every few hours for the first month after surgery. I personally feel that it's a little extreme but I rather err on the side of caution.:phanvan
