  1. I too got completely unfilled when I found out I was pregnant. I ended up gaining really fast - it was crazy! I think it played with my hormones and I ended up miscarrying. Next time, I'm leaving my fill in or just slightly unfilling. I don't think rapid weight gain can hurt the baby, but if you're someone who had heavy periods with lots of clotting, then I would be very cautious about gaining weight to quickly. I think it's all ties into the hormones.

  2. I'm curious about all the different ways the band can feel temporarily tighter. I've experienced being tighter during periods of stress, while being sick and during the week before my TOM. I've read about getting tighter during flights and after intense exercise.

Are there any other situations in which the band can feel temporarily tighter?

  3. hi all,

Question: Where the heck is the port if not under the big, main scar?

Q2: If the lumpy thing 3 inches lower than my big scar is the port, what is the hard lump right under the scar?!?

PS-Doc is out of town starting today thru next week, so i'd appreciate your advice while i wait a week to call him.

My fills are done about 1.5 inches below my port scar. Maybe your port is really tilted so he had to inject on a sharp angle?

  4. Hi everyone, I hope you're all out enjoying this (slightly) warmer weather this week. I've started walking outside now that the roads are no longer skating rinks.

I met a big goal today: I've lost 50 pounds.:)

I've been banded for 8 months so I'm a fairly slow loser but at least the weight is coming off. I only really started losing weight 4 months after I was banded (after my 4th fill).

In the beginning I was really discouraged by the slow weight loss but even at 1 pound per week, it does add up! So for all my fellow slow losers, don't give up!!!

  5. Well it's still a no for TLBC patients to see Dr Bishop. It doesn't matter that Nancy at TLBC said it would be fine. Dr Bishop wants reassurance from Dr Yau that there won't be issues and such. It's a good thing that he's so thorough, don't get me wrong, but I'm annoyed just the same cause I'd really like a tiny defill so I can sleep better!!

I just don't want to go all the way to Toronto for it! :)

    Are you suffering from reflux?

I just don't get what the big deal is about giving fills to other doctor's patients. It's a fill - a simple procedure that a nurse could do. It's not rocket science! I don't understand why this simple procedure is not available freely? Does this apply to any other medical procedure?

  6. There is also Dr Bishop (who was mentioned on previous pages, but I didn't see anyone who's actually seen him). I see him on Wednesday for a fill so I'll let everyone know what he's like. I am also trying to be free for the February 9th meet-up but it's not looking good.

My name is Cindy BTW! I was banded by Dr Cobourn 2 years ago.

Nice to be "clued in" a bit again.

    Cindy

    :D

    Hi Cindy,

Can you ask Dr. Bishop why he won't fill patients from other surgeons besides Dr. Cobourn?

  7. Hi Agnes, sorry to hear you're not recuperating as fast as you had hoped. I know I felt pretty good on day 2 and 3 but days 4 to 7 I felt really tired and stayed in bed pretty much the whole time. I ended up taking 2 weeks off of work.

I didn't feel any pain or anything out-of-the ordinary inside. In fact, I couldn't tell I was banded until my third fill. I even ate a BigMac the week after I was banded (a big no-no).

    Get well soon!
