  1. So, had my post op appt today. (2 weeks post op) I only lost 2 lbs. I guess that is to be expected, no exercise and starving my body, slows the metabolism. I start mushies today yay! My first fill will be in 3 weeks. Hope you are all doing well.

Hey Lynn, how are you? I had my post op appointment today as well, down 7lbs since surgery. I was not eating enough so he moved me to mushies, 80-100 grams of Protein, 80-100 oz of Water, and 800-1000 calories. I go back in two weeks. I had 2 ounces of refried Beans for dinner and was so freakin full....had been feeling so normal was wondering if I really had the band..lol so that's what it took to feel it? So loving that feeling of getting full fast:thumbup: Email me so we can chat more barbarabachi@yahoo.com

  2. If you expect to keep losing a pound a day, you will be very disappointed. A pound a week is what I expect, and it is what I get most of the time. In the beginning, though we do lose a ton of Water and we get excited because we think it is going to keep going. It never does and we should actually know this after hundreds of attempts at losing weight over the years. Yes Soups can cause weight gain because of the salt, depending on how salt sensitive you are. Don't forget to drink all of your Water every day. Hugs to all!!!!

Do not get me wrong, I never expected to keep losing a pound a day, maybe I was not very clear on my post. I have been on many, many diets over the years and know how it works. Was just surprised to see the scale go up 2 pounds over night but should not have gotten alarmed, I pushed my water and it went back down:thumbup:. My concern was that I was still doing full liquids and had forgotten briefly how my body holds on to water but it is making mindful of my sodium intake.

  3. Hello, I am 41 and will be turning 42 in july and I plan to start trying to get pregnant summer of 2011. This is my second marriage for me and my husband and he does not have any children either, also that was one of the reasons for me getting banded as well. Band date March 19, 2010. Wishing us all blessings and healthy babies!!!!

  4. Hi,

Well I was banded on March 10th and I tried not to weigh myself until my 10 day follow up because of the medications/changes. At my doctor's appointment I found out that I had lost 14 pounds since my surgery. Then today 6 days after my appointment I got on the scale and it said I gained 5 pounds! I've been eating about 600 cals/day so I'm in the same boat. Our bodies just need to adjust and hopefully it will even out over time!

I am sure it will, but it was nice seeing the scale move down every morning when I got on it. Oh well, I am still excited and feel better and more energetic everyday:thumbup:.

  5. Hi, I was banded on March 19th and have just moved to full liquids...YAY for me!! I can honestly say that my experience has been awesome, I was very sore and port site hurt a little but i tried to ignore it and literally walk thru it. Went to the beach the sunday after surgery and walk a total of 2 1/2 miles while I was there and it really helped a lot with my healing I believe. I went back to work on day 7 and worked a full day with lots of energy ( I am a cosmetologist) . Lost 7 pounds pre-op and 10 pounds since surgery.

    Good Luck to all!!!

  6. Oh, my appt is next Thursday too. I was mistaken. You can walk ok. I can't. It seems to pull too much on my incision. I move more and more every day though. Today I felt pretty good, my incision is hurting, so I just took some ibuprofen. Hopefully the hurt is a healing hurt, and not something else!!

    Lynn

Hey Lynn what time is your appt. next thursday, mine is at 12:30?

  7. Congratulations to you...My post op appt is next thurs April 1st and day 3 was pretty good just gassy. I took the loratab up until sunday morning and then regular tylenol around 2:30 on sunday. Did not take any meds on monday nor today, feeling Great and thin today...lol I am getting ready to go for a 2 mile walk on the beach in a bit (decided to get away for recovery) but will be back to work on thursday.

  8. Hello all, I was banded on yesterday and it was awesome.:) I went to surgery at 10:50am and was discharged at 4:15. Dr. Enoch did the SIL (single lapband incision) everything went so smooth. We stopped to wal-greens to get my liquid loratab...when I got home I walked around my house for a little exercise. Just sore and a little gassy, I take my pain meds every 4 hours like clock work it really helps. I am not hungry that is so amazing to me.:) Doc put a 10cc band in not sure how much Fluid but I know he put a little to keep the port line straight. Well don't let me bore yall, going for a ride in a little bit. First day of spring and it is beautiful here in NC.

  9. I too had my last suppers several times and I see that it is completely normal. I started weight watchers after my initial consult on Jan 13th and by the time I was approved on Feb 23rd I had lost 8 lbs..soon as I was approved the eating of whatever I wanted started but thankfully I was scheduled for surgery on March 19th, after my results appt on march 9th and surgery was scheduled I started my low carb diet and have lost 5 lbs already. My point is by the time I had eaten so much of what I wanted I was really tired of food the only thing that happen during the first 3 days of low carbing it I had a terrible headache (guess my body went thru withdrawels but I am all good now. Five more days and I will be in band land:)

    Congratulations to all of us!!!!!

  10. Hi, I have a question my surgery is scheduled for April 12th and I have seen the nutrionist three times and she gave me a food plan for when I start eating solids but my surgeon hasn't told me anything about drinking Protein shakes or anything. I don't see him again until the day of surgery, I know there is just a one day pre-op clear liquids and that is it. How do I know how much Protein I will need each day right after the surgery? I need to start stocking up on the drinks I don't have much time left. And can anyone recommend anything that tastes decent?

Hi, I will be banded on march 19th and I was told immediately after surgery to do Isopure from GNC, its protein Water in addition to crystal light and sugarfree popsicles also broth this will give you energy and help you to heal faster. For my Protein powder I like Jillian michaels vanilla and body fortress whey protein from Walmart also Protein Shots from walmart are pretty tasty to me.

    Hope this helps!!!

  11. Thanks for asking!

I feel like a million dollars. There was no real pain requiring painkillers at any time.

Tuesday afternoon I had real bad gas. None of the shoulder pain that many complain of. Popped Gas-X strips like they were going out of style. The gas subsided and I slept like a baby.

Wednesday, the gas is back but not nearly as bad. More Gas-X.

Thursday, every muscle in my body felt cramped and achy. I think it was the IV fluids leaving my body or something. I don't think the pain killer would have helped and don't like the drowsy feeling it gives me.

I was a little stiff still on Friday morning for an hour or so and then felt better than I did before surgery.

I have experienced absolutely no pain or even tenderness around any of my 5 incisions. I can't feel the band from the inside. I can guzzle Water just as easily as I could last week.

I won't know about solid foods for another 3 weeks. Blended/mushies starting Tuesday.

I do have a real bad habit of swallowing air when I want to belch and this isn't working. I can't get a good, resounding belch out and have to wait for all of that air to come out the other end.

    Are you ready for Wednesday?
