lisaluvsgreys got a reaction from Pinkgirl1234 in Any Band to Sleeve Success Stories Out There?!?
After reading all of these posts, I am wondering if getting the sleeve will be worth it! I lost about 50 with the band, and kept off 40.
Will the sleeve make a difference? I have a 14cc band that has slipped. It's been filled almost to max capacity. No one ever told me that my band could cause difficulties with my sleeve!
The entire point of the sleeve is to have restriction, correct?
I'm paying cash for my revision surgery, and it's a lot of money to shell out if the sleeve will make no difference! I'm really bummed out, and I'm wondering if I should just get my band removed, and no sleeve on Wednesday.
I only had band restriction for one year after band surgery in 2009.
Please let there be more band to sleeve success stories out there!!
    Thank you,
    Lisa ????

You'll be on a Multivitamin and Calcium supplement. Your band will restrict your eating. You'll notice quickly that you can only eat smaller portions.
When you first get the band, your stomach will need to heal. You will not get your first full until almost 6 weeks out. The band helps you to control your portions. Preplan your food the night before so you don't get too hungry and get off plan.
The band is a tool to help you lose weight. Most of it is up to you. It's not a magic fix. It will help you from over eating, and eating healthy portions. Your Nut will help you make healthy choices. Preparation is everything!
Emotional hunger is always going to be a problem for people that struggle with their weight. I walk when I feel like I want to eat out of boredom. Keep a food diary, and prepare your menu in advance and you will succeed! Best of luck!

Yay!!! You had it done! That's awesome. I worry so much about the pain after (I'm a big baby). Speaking of babies - I had a csection before does it feel worse than that (assuming you had one or does anyone know?). Did you have that X-ray thing yet where you have to swallow contrast media to see if there is a leak? Does your surgeon do that? And if so was it nasty/hard to swallow? Congrats for walking so much ! Yay !!!! Keep us posted. We are all nervous. I'm July 29.

I am scheduled for this morning. Yesterday the hospital called and said my chest x-ray looked like I had pneumonia! I am still in shock. I have no symptoms. I asked the woman twice if she had the correct files.
Called my surgeon right away and he looked over my blood work and said it did not look like I had pneumonia.
So his morning I have to have another chest x-ray to determine if I am okay for surgery. I am fine with waiting, but part of me is disappointed. This has been an off and on, start and stop journey of a year so far. Maybe the rest will be a breeze in comparison!

I had my sleeve done yesterday. I've been very sleepy from the anesthesia and in some pain, but it's manageable. Toughest is drinking. I get a cramping sensation and I can feel the air moving around.
I just did three laps in the corridors to get the gas moving.

I have to report to the hospital at 5:45am tomorrow. Part of me still thinks I must be nuts but, I want to live a healthy life and not be a burden to my wife. I will only be healthier for doing it.

So funny, I never was a big cottage cheese fan , but now I crave it constantly. Protein Shakes, cottage cheese, & Oikos Triple Zero have become my staples. Had small spinach salad with Tomato for dinner, was so surprised how quickly I filled up. So far it's sitting well.

Just following the rules, but since your post was addressed to me,..... "These guidelines do NOT forbid disagreement and candid discussions on BariatricPal. Members may discuss and defend their points of view in respectful manners. "
I suppose we can just agree to disagree, because I do not agree with your opinion.
My band has worked to perfection! Just like it was intended to. I lost 130 pounds with my band. I have had it for 6 years in September. My surgeon, who is an expert, seems to think bands are long term....maybe you've got better info?
And I don't consider myself a rare success. I personally know people who've had their bands in for over 10 years...I played golf with one weekend before last. He just did a 10 year checkup..."everything looks perfect".
PS...I enjoy going back and reading people's post from years back....kinda gives a different perspective sometimes.
    Best wishes TO ALL!

Weight loss surgery can be an effective tool to fight obesity. Our common goal is to fight obesity through a unified voice. No weight loss surgery is inherently better or worse than any other. Each has advantages, and each has disadvantages. Some individuals are good candidates for one kind of surgery, and other individuals are better candidates for another kind of surgery.
No individual is more or less deserving of weight loss and health because of a decision to get or not get weight loss surgery, or because of which type of weight loss surgery he or she chooses. BariatricPal serves as a place where anyone can ask questions about weight loss surgery without fear of ridicule. BariatricPal serves as a forum for open discussion and polite disagreement so that everyone can benefit. Weight loss surgery “bashing” is absolutely prohibited. Remember that written communication is different from face-to-face communication. When you post a message on the discussion forum, send someone a text message, email, or private message, or meet in a chat room, a lot of the message is lost. When you are face-to-face with someone, you can use tone of voice, gestures, and expressions to help get your point across. These aids are lost when you communicate online. Your message can accidentally come across as harsh or rude. A good way to reduce accidental misunderstandings is to read your own message before posting it to see if there is any way that a reader could mistake its meaning in a negative way.
