  1. My Second fill brought me from 3cc to 5ccs and I was unable to each anything for about 5 or 6 days. I had to stick with Liquids and creamy soups... Finally a couple of days ago, I was able to actually eat my oatmeal at a normal consistancy without making them practically liquid... I lost about 2.5 pounds during that time though... Yay me... Now I have been back on full regular foods since Tuesday and as long as I remember small bites and chew chew chew I'm doing okay... I slimed/PB'd a couple of times due to my own stupidity... Otherwise, I'm doing good. I go back on the 9th and I don't know if he will do another fill or leave me as is... I think maybe .5cc might be perfect.... Just a touch more restriction...
  2. Since being banded I always ask for an elixer or liquid or chewable med... However, the liquid Antibiotic is just as bad... It is very thick and bitter and gets stuck inbetween your teeth and your tasting it for 30 minutes after taking it. Sometimes the pharmacy has something thats equivalent to waht was perscribed and they just issue it, but if they don't they just place a quick call to the Dr and explain I need the liquid or chewable and ask them to fax over a new prescription... My Regular Doc does not know I have been banded However, I will advise him when I have my next physical and he questions how I have lost so much weight finally! Plus, I'm sure it really should be in my medical file.... I just don't want to tell him until I can show good results because he was dead set against it for the last 5 years as I begged him at each physical...
  3. It is soooo Tempting to hop on the scale everytime you walk by it... I have one like the Dr's office that I got a few years ago at a yardsale for 5 bucks (It sat at my Ex Husbands house until I had the Band SUrgery then I told him I wanted it back...)... I'm now a whore to it.... I am on the thing like 10 times a day.... I keep it on the wieght I'm at each time and see how much it changes each time by how much I have to move the little slider... It always starts off about 3 pounds lower in the morning and by bedtime it's always up! I hate that.... But it helps to controll what I eat all day as I am terrified up the upward slide... Whats nice is to see it at 2 or 3 ounces less all of a sudden one morning compared to the Morning before... My Dr told me to cease and desist immediately and to quit being so Obsessive... He wants me to only weigh in when I am at the office. NO WAY... It's like a train wreck. You know you shouldn't watch but you can't help yourself...
  4. I was experiencing that same pain especially when walking I felt it with every step I took, and after two weeks of it not getting better, I started wearing a girdle and it made a 100% difference. I lived in that thing for 2 or 3 weeks... I strongly recommend some kind of binding for the tummy area as it seems to hold everything together and firm... Now, I have graduated from the girdle to pantyhose that I wear all the way up under my boobs. LOL... (However, I was doing that even before the surgery for years just to firm up my jelly belly... My Kids love to make fun of me for that! haha)
  5. Well Said. LOL... I got stuck after stuffing two of my grandsons potato chips in my mouth! I learned my lesson... Haha... I use the Stuck episodes as an Aversion therapy... I tried it, it didn't work and caused me pain and I don't want to do that again, so I will avoid the temptation next time... Aversion Therapy... It works. haha... Next year, I will be the "belle of the Ball" at my companies Christmas party instead of hiding in a frumpy outfit in the corner!
  6. Jen, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother... I think the broad needs to take a class that will teach her how to listen.... If she had listened, she would have realized that you had a much more serious issue at hand than the fill at the moment... I know that Dr's office's get hectic and can be over booked, but a lot of the staff have very poor "bedside" manners when dealing with patients... Even if she was "concerned" about you getting your fill, she should have showed some compassion for your situation...
  7. Nope.. Not here... More like constipation here, but it's always been like that for me so it's nothing new... My Daughter has what you mention every since her gall bladder came out 4 years ago... Okay, TMI here, but I love to get on a scale before and after I go! I seriously can lose as much as 2 to 5 pounds at once! No Exxageration... Okay that was pre band... Now since I'm eating less, it's closer to 1.5 to 2 pounds... Thats going twice a week...
  8. Yumm-O.. I'm going grocery shopping today... What is greek yogurt... I'm not a fan of yogurt in general but I keep seeing it being posted about... Where do I find it? With regular yogurt or do I have to go to a health food store? I don't really care for cottage cheese but I have found that a can of Tuna, two hard boiled eggs and a couple tablespoons of cottage cheese go good together and make about three nice lunches...
  9. Now that sounds fabulous! How long and how hot do you bake them? Funny how I hadn't even thought of eating hummus with raw Veggies... LOL... My Mind set was that it was supposed to go with bread... Thanks for helping me to think outside the box!
  10. Yummy Thanks! I've never tried the flax seed anything... Maybe I'll give them a try.
  11. kansas, do you make your own Hummus or is there a really good brand to buy? I love Hummus and tried to make it once and it just wasnt the same as this one restauraunt I used to get it at that has now closed... I tried the one from costco and it tasted rancid... I was surprised becasue Usually Costco is my no fail place to get delicious food! I would love a recipe if anyone has a good one! ANd what do you eat it with thats healthy. The restauraunt used to serve it with hot homemade indian bread which is thin almost like a pita... I'd like a healthier alternative... Maybe just eat it plain? like a side dish?
  12. I could have written this myself!!! Sometimes I'm feeling great and beautiful, then I see a picture and it's like it's not even me and I hate myself for getting so fatty fat fat... Taking pictures is meserable becasue I feel like I have to pose and hold my chin and face just right and stand behind anyone else in the picture to hide my body.... It's a lot of work trying to hide being fat!
  13. A couple of weeks ago, my daughter, who does not know I am banded, wanted to meet up with me whille we were both in town and have lunch... Since I don't see her often I agreed. We went to Rubio's which is like a beach themed taco place. I ordered a small "thing" of black beans for .50 and a "street taco" and it was delicious and just the right size. The container of beans is about the size of what most places give you salsa in.. Maybe 2 ozs... and the taco was like 2 1/2 inches long with shredded pork, a touch of guacamole, onions and cilantro... real small. My Daughter kept asking me if I wanted a couple more when I was finished eating... I didn't tell her that I was so full I felt uncomfortable... I just smiled and kept saying No Thank You... It felt wonderful to eat out and have such a small portion. I used to go to taco bell and have 3 regular tacos, a bean burrito and cinnamon twists! Haha... Not anymore!!!
  14. OMGosh you are reading my mind... Well, okay truthfully I'm not starving or anything, but for the last few days, I have been really craving one of them big fat Kosher costco hot Dogs! I bought a package of the smaller sized ones a week ago but since my 2nd fill on Tuesday I can't eat hardly anything, so they are sitting in the freezer... And I think about them constantly! I keep telling myself, that this too shall pass... For now, I am living on broths, cream soups and super runny oatmeal or refried Beans as everything else keeps getting stuck in my throat... Good luck and stay strong....
  15. Congratulations! What an awesome thing when you discover what size you are buying compared to what size you thought you were going to buy! I can't wait til MY moment... Keep up the good work!
  16. I am very fortunate to not have this issue with my port. I have hard to find or get veins so whenever I need lab work I get the dig, root and multipoke thing so I know how you feel... Good luck and I hope things get better for you! Congratulations on the weight loss you have had so far...
  17. So since this is my first "challenge" I'm not sure... Do we check in each week? I joined last Tuesday and just did the Monday Weigh in and I'm down 2.5 pounds... I am able to eat runny oatmeal now and runny refriend Beans but otherwise am still limited to cream Soups and broths or Protien shakes... The Oatmeal is iffy becasue I can feel it sitting in my throat after the 3rd or 4th bite.... And a bite consists of about the amount of a "baby" spoon... I little scrapping of food at the very tip of my teaspoon... My Follow up is on the 9th so hopefully I'll be able to eat more things by then and this will be my sweet spot...
  18. Haha.... This had me laughing because I can SOOOOO Relate... So I have size 18s and I can still wear them however, I can pull them down or off and on without every touching the buttons and zippers... LOL... Because I am used to weight flucuations I have clothes that are between 18s to 14s as well. Last week I found a pair of the 14s and they fit beautifully and on the loose side NOT stretched across my BUM like they wanted to split/burst open like the last time I wore them a couple of years ago... I was soooo excited and my Physical Therapists commented about how much weight I've lost and how fantastic I look... It felt good hearing it from her because she is so cute and tiny.. Probably 90 pounds soaking wet which means I am still a bohemeth next to her yet she noticed! Now if only I can get my Boyfriend to notice.... Okay, in his defense... His eyeglasses are like coke bottles they are so thick... Haha.... And he is almost 60 years old, so he does not focus on how much or how little I weight.... He just loves me for who I am, I guess...
  19. I figured slime was saliva the other day when it happened to me for the first time... I had eaten a couple of my Grandsons potato chips and I could feel the chest pressure and the chips seemed to be sitting in my throat... I fought throwing up for several minutes as my mouth kept salivating I thought it would wash the chips down... As I kept swallowing the saliva I could feel it sitting there on top of the chips and not going past or washing them down... Finally I gave in to it, grabbed a couple of napkins and just let it roll out of my throat... It wasn't really like a "retching" throw up... It just rolled up and out very easily... There was about a 1/2 cup of gooey gross slim and then it was over. The chest pain was gone as well as the guilt I felt for even eating a chip... lesson learned... No More potato Chips... Since my second fill, 6 days ago, I am only able to eat runny refried Beans (about 1 Tbsp) or about 1/2 cup of cream Soups (Taken very slowly or I can feel it sitting in my throat), or a Protein shake (Taken very slowly or it sits in my throat) or about a full cup of broth... I have lost 2.5 pounds since then... The only problem with being on a liquid diet is that I feel hungry quicker. About 60 to 90 minutes after I finish some, I am ready for more... I don't want to be in a habit of needing nourishment every 90 minutes... That won't work for me in the long run...
  20. I just got my second fill last week and am now at 5ccs. I am only able to get down liquids and soups for 98% of my daily intake... However, I lost 2.5 pounds since last Tuesday and I see my Dr. in only one more week, so I'm not going to go back for an unfill... I have lost just under 25 pounds since my surgery on Dec 4th and only 3 People even know I had this surgery... My almost 60 year old Live in Boyfriend does not even know... So one of my GF's who does know, sees me about once every 3 weeks or so and she commented on how fantastic I look and asked me if my BF has noticed yet... Since he hasn't commented or said anything I asked him... His comment was "Oh, you've lost weight? I know you said you were going on a diet, but I saw you eating so I thought you gave up" Okay, so Up until the second fill, I was able to still eat most foods and have been eating small portions off of a tea saucer... I said to him "well duh, I have to eat... There is no diet where you don't eat at all" So there you have it, I've gone from a comfy size 18 to a 14 which is very baggy on me and he has not noticed... Be careful on the tanning. You don't want to lose weight and get healthy to live longer just to get cancer... However, I bought a full size tanning bed about 10 years ago and I can tell you you do look healthier and thinner when you have some color. LOL... I left it with my ex husband when I left him... I realized the damage I was doing to my skin and cancer of all types is so prevalent in my family that I had to give it up.... Good Luck! I'm sure if you saw someone you haven't seen in a few weeks they would definately notice your weight loss. I think those who see us every day will be the last to notice and only after drastic changes... I think my man won't notice until I lose about 50 pounds...
  21. This post brought a smile to my face... I thought it was poetic that "WE" can actually ever worry about such a thing as losing too much weight or being too thin... I'm still at the beginning of my journey and hope to actually see the day where that is really a concern for me... I will Happily dance across that bridge when I come to it. Congratulations for getting only 20 pounds from your goal weight! Thats fantastic...
  22. Ohhh a quick follow up on my last post... I just did my Easter Weigh in and I've lost 2.5 Pounds since last Tuesday, So I have no complaints about not being able to eat too many solids just yet... However, that may change if I start see delicious food that others are enjoying. LOL... Haha...
  23. I just had my second fill last Tuesday, which brought me up to 5ccs and I have the same problem... I tried to eat Mushies the second day but even very runny oatmeal got stuck.... I have been doing 98% liquid diet of Soups and Protein shakes every since... I made a pot of homemade vegetable Soup that stayed down becasue I cooked the veggies to super soft and then chewed every chunky thing to Water... The only problem with the liquid diet is I am always hungry so I am having broth or a cup of soup practically very 60-90 minutes... Ohhhh, I was able to eat about 1 Tbsp of very runny/soft refried Beans so I have been having that too... Anymore than a Tbsp and I can feel it sitting in my throat like it has nowhere to go... I go back to the Dr. in one week so I will wait it out... I have lost 1.5 pounds since Tuesday so whatever it takes to get the results I want... I'm hoping this is my sweet spot becasue I really don't want to have an unfill... I don't want to be able to over-eat... P.S. I was taking care of my Grandsons the other day and ate 2 of their potato chips and they came right back up, which I was glad of... It wasn"t a full on throw up because it felt like they never really went down... they sat in my throat and after a couple minutes of fighting it and swallowing saliva that kept forming, I grabbed a napkin and the chips and about a half cup of slime kinda just rolled back out... The chest pressure and guilt of even thinking of eating chips went away and I learned my lesson...
