  1. I have Bay Valley Medical Group and my primary care physician referred me to Dr. John Morton at Stanford. Fantastic doctor and fantastic hospital. I live in San Leandro. You may want to consider switching groups if your primary care physician is also in Bay Valley Medical Group. Check Hills though. Good Luck
  2. Tinker I agree with Luckygirl. You may be eating very little, however, it could be the amount of calories. Also, the Protein is Key. It will give you the energy and nutrition you need. If you can only tolerate soft foods, try having a Protein Drink. I use a strawberry Protein powder with 22 grams of protein in one serving and there is only 110 calories. Add that to 1/2 cup of lite apple juice and about 5 frozen strawberries and a scoup of ice in a blender and you have a great smoothie for under 200 calories and a ton of protein. Most importantly, do not skip meals. By missing meals and eating very little, your metabolism is thrown completely off and your body will become accustomed to this which will slow the weight loss process to a snails pace. You need balance and you can do that while eating small portions. Be sure to take your Vitamins too. Just remember PROTEIN FIRST!!!! Good luck and remember you can do this! We are all in this together and the support is so important.
  3. I am averaging 800-900 calories per day before any exercise. With exercise, it turns out to be around 600-700 daily.
  4. My favorite day is Thanksgiving and not because of the food, but because it is the official kick off of the holiday season. As a child I loved getting up early and watching the Macy's day parade and then the other Thanksgiving day parades. That has always stuck with me.
  5. Well, here on the West coast $150.00 would be a bargain and then some. My insurance is billed $692.00 each time I have a fill done. And HelenC is correct. It is an adjustment and usually you will not have perfect restriction the first, second and sometimes even third time. Remember the restriction you felt right after surgery is due to the swelling in your stomach from the surgery. Hang in there though, you are doing GREAT!!
  6. Krystal, first off thank you for your powerful testimony. For such a young lady, you certainly have the right attitude and are wise beyond your years. I am nearly 50 and am just now getting it! You can do this and just stay involved with this support group. I think that the support is a large part of our success. We see that we are not alone in this and that everyone here has had and are having the same issues. Just by your post alone, you have indeed helped someone. ME! Thanks again and the best of luck to you.
  7. I agree with passing. It is way to early to attempt sitting there when you know that you cannot eat. And remember, your stomach is still healing and if you were to eat anything at this point could cause upset. Good Luck!
  8. Hey Amanda and Laura, I live in San Leandro and would like to get together with others in our area for support. Let me know when ever and and where ever. It would be great to have a support system close. Good luck to both of you and to all Cali Bandsters
  9. By taking you off of his insurance he has bigger issues to worry about. If something major happens to you, who ends up being responsible for the bills? Both of you. In California, community property state, means even if the bill is in your name, if you are not able to pay, he will be looked to for payment. He better rethink his threats and what they could cost him.
  10. I am not a big milk drinker so to get my milk in, every morning have a Tall, Non Fat Decaf sugar-free vanilla latte' or cinnamon dolce latte' extra hot. 120 calories. I am addicted! Great source of protein and calcium
  11. Personally, no one should be permitted to pm someone to "tell them off" To me this is a form of harrassment. You have every right to state your opinion and if anyone disagrees, it should be posted for all to see and not be allowed to attack someone privately. By leaving the board, you have allowed them to WIN. NEVER do that! We're here to support and obtain/give information to help us on this journey. There are other forums for ranting and raving. Ánd from what I have seen in those forums, I choose to steer clear. Too many "Know it Alls". Hang in There. We are here for SUPPORT.
  12. Love Mary Kay everything! I have been using it for 15 years. Can't imagine using anything else!
  13. Good Luck and welcome to the beginning of a whole new wonderful life!!
  14. Banded 10/2/06 62.5 lbs down with 3 fills 4.5cc in VG band. Exercise 4 to 5 times per week at gym and walking dogs.
  15. I thought it was hilarious! The brother and sister I thought were really good. Girl with mama OMG! What waaas she thinking?@?@?!? I would like to see more of the real talent though. Mix it up a little more. There had to be more good than that! Can't wait for the actual beginning of competition though.
  16. I too am one that has been able to lose faster than average. I have basically followed the same rule as Tami. Protein first, veggies, fruit then carbs. I am diabetic and I have been able to eliminate ALL diabetic meds as a result of restricting the carb intake. I eat 3 meals a day with a couple of small stacks throughout the day. I have not felt deprived for one moment. I have learned that I really don't miss the carbs as the protein is much more filling and my energy level is off the charts now. I exercise at least 4 times per week for 45 to 60 minutes each. That was totally unheard of prior to October 2, 2006. However, please remember, we are all different but the key is to get that metabolism going and the best way to do that is EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!
  17. I have found many porn postings and as I run across them, I will report spam by clicking open and then hitting the ! notification at the top and they are removed almost immediately by the moderators. i can't tell you how many I have reported this past month, however, I have noticed they have slowed down over the past couple of weeks.
  18. Madeline, first, congratulations on being banded. I think you will see that you did make the right choice. The first 4 weeks are rough due to liquid stage. However, this is to allow your stomach to heal. You do not want your stomach overworking right now to allow everything to settle. Personally, my doctor had me on liquid for 4 weeks and then mushies for 2 weeks to regular food. Each doctor has a different time frame from what I have seen posted. You may want to consult with your surgeon to see what he recommends. Good luck to you and don't be discouraged. You are taking care of you and that is important especially since you need to be there for many years for your little one.
  19. Ok gang! Count me in! I especially commit to drinking more water. Good Luck to ALL!!!
  20. Nikki, PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN! This will definately boost your energy level. 50 lbs is alot of weight and you are doing great. Just rethink your food choices. It's all about protein first, veggies second, fruit and then carbs if there is even any room. Hang in there. We''re here for you.
  21. Actually, I am currently attending Weight Watchers. Even though my points intake is much less than they require, I have been able to follow pretty closely with the core plan and it works. I find the support is most important and the accountibility helps me. Good Luck!!!
  22. My Dr. will only do Flouro. It is cool and makes me feel a whole lot better knowing. Threebeauties-Congrats. So glad everything is OK. I had my 3rd fill yesterday and I am hoping for that "sweet spot". Total fill 4.5cc Good luck!
  23. Denise, I bet if you mentioned the ADA to Ryan's they would give you the child's buffet rate. I was talking with my nurse cooridinator who also happens to have had weight loss surgery and she mentioned the American Disabilities Act and weight loss surgery does fall under that act. You might want to push it with them and see what they say. Wouldn't hurt to try. Best of luck
  24. My doctor will provide one if I want. I just haven't taken the time to pick it up when I have gone in for my fill. It might be a good idea. I doubt that anyone would ask for proof if you were to tell them you have had weight loss surgery, but then again, there would be that first time. I plan to ask for it when I go in next week.
  25. 5Jacks, that is exactly what happened to me. My scheduled date was October 30 and they called me the end of September and asked if I wanted to move my date to October 2. I jumped on it. I was so ready. Good luck to you.
