Mix it up a little more. There had to be more good than that! Can't wait for the actual beginning of competition though.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hey all! Happy Wednesday! Well, I went to the gym again last nite and thought I would incorporate the illiptical? into my routine. The nite before that, I tried and only got to 1 minute. OMG! How painful and hard. Well, I want everyone to know that last nite I managed 2 minutes, YES, 2! For me that is the hardest thing! I have been doing the treadmill first, so I'm thinking that tomorrow nite I will do the illiptical? first and then the treadmill. I am shooting for 3 minutes. I am really getting into the exercise thing though. I am amazed at how losing weight does improve your stamina and gives you more energy to exercise. Well, everyone have a great day. Talk to ya soon!

    whats making you sucessful

I too am one that has been able to lose faster than average. I have basically followed the same rule as Tami. Protein first, veggies, fruit then carbs. I am diabetic and I have been able to eliminate ALL diabetic meds as a result of restricting the carb intake. I eat 3 meals a day with a couple of small stacks throughout the day. I have not felt deprived for one moment. I have learned that I really don't miss the carbs as the protein is much more filling and my energy level is off the charts now. I exercise at least 4 times per week for 45 to 60 minutes each. That was totally unheard of prior to October 2, 2006. However, please remember, we are all different but the key is to get that metabolism going and the best way to do that is EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!

    Why does this happen here?

I have found many porn postings and as I run across them, I will report spam by clicking open and then hitting the ! notification at the top and they are removed almost immediately by the moderators. i can't tell you how many I have reported this past month, however, I have noticed they have slowed down over the past couple of weeks.

    Lap-band Support

Madeline, first, congratulations on being banded. I think you will see that you did make the right choice. The first 4 weeks are rough due to liquid stage. However, this is to allow your stomach to heal. You do not want your stomach overworking right now to allow everything to settle. Personally, my doctor had me on liquid for 4 weeks and then mushies for 2 weeks to regular food. Each doctor has a different time frame from what I have seen posted. You may want to consult with your surgeon to see what he recommends. Good luck to you and don't be discouraged. You are taking care of you and that is important especially since you need to be there for many years for your little one.

    hi- here for support

Nikki, PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN! This will definately boost your energy level. 50 lbs is alot of weight and you are doing great. Just rethink your food choices. It's all about protein first, veggies second, fruit and then carbs if there is even any room. Hang in there. We''re here for you.

    Follow-up dieting

Actually, I am currently attending Weight Watchers. Even though my points intake is much less than they require, I have been able to follow pretty closely with the core plan and it works. I find the support is most important and the accountibility helps me. Good Luck!!!

    Floro or Not

My Dr. will only do Flouro. It is cool and makes me feel a whole lot better knowing. Threebeauties-Congrats. So glad everything is OK. I had my 3rd fill yesterday and I am hoping for that "sweet spot". Total fill 4.5cc Good luck!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Lynette, that is fantastic. ÖNLY 30 lbs. That is 3 lbs a week. Most doctors only expect 1 to 2 lbs per week. You are doing great! Keep up the good work.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hey to all my October friends. I go tomorrow for another fill if they will even give me one. Although I have been losing at a great rate, I really have never felt fully restricted, except for the first few days after both fills. I have been winging it for the most part for fear of gaining. I know that I can certainly eat more than I do, but I am so afraid of gaining and of doing harm to my band. Lately, I have had to work quite a bit harder to push myself away from the table and notice that I want to snack a little more. Of course, I guess this is where I am finding that the band is a TOOL! I am learning to make wiser food choices and that exercise will offset any little extras I may put in my mouth. It's all part of the process and I know that it is going to take hard work. Contrary to what those who don't agree with weight loss surgery believe. But, this is one journey I would not change for a moment. I appreciate everyone's input on this Thread and I feel we have all been such a support to each other. Congrats to all of us for just continuing to be apart of this group and for sharing our struggles. We are have so much in common and it is great to have this support. Wish me luck tomorrow. I really need this fill and hopefully it will be the SWEET SPOT!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Well, I just got back from the gym and am down 2 lbs. towards the Valentine's weight loss challenge. I have also exercised 4 times this week. That's a miracle. I feel really motivated right now and it has alot to do with all my October bandbabies. Thanks for the encouragement and keep up the good work. HAPPY NEW YEAR :cocktail:

    Lap Band Identification Card

Denise, I bet if you mentioned the ADA to Ryan's they would give you the child's buffet rate. I was talking with my nurse cooridinator who also happens to have had weight loss surgery and she mentioned the American Disabilities Act and weight loss surgery does fall under that act. You might want to push it with them and see what they say. Wouldn't hurt to try. Best of luck

    Lap Band Identification Card

My doctor will provide one if I want. I just haven't taken the time to pick it up when I have gone in for my fill. It might be a good idea. I doubt that anyone would ask for proof if you were to tell them you have had weight loss surgery, but then again, there would be that first time. I plan to ask for it when I go in next week.

    Would you up your date?

5Jacks, that is exactly what happened to me. My scheduled date was October 30 and they called me the end of September and asked if I wanted to move my date to October 2. I jumped on it. I was so ready. Good luck to you.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I'm in everyone. With my 15 lb. goal, I am also going to include exercising at least 3 days per week for 45 minutes. This is one area that I am not doing to well in. The exercise helps keep me from nibbling especially when I am home on the weekends. I have a harder time with weekends as I have to much time around the house to graze. I found that out especially this past weekend with the holidays.

How do I survive the holiday foods

It is very difficult to avoid these tempting yummy things, but everyone here has done SOOO well and just remind yourself of where you were and where you are. I small bite won't hurt if you can keep it to a small bite. And remember, NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS! Hang in there everyone. We can do this and we will love ourselves more! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Well gang, I had my 2nd fill on Thursday and boy oh boy do I feel the restriction. It is really noticable in the morning. The doctor filled it 1cc. My first fill was 1.50 cc. This is great! I have actually been to two parties and still lost. I have also met my Christmas weight loss challenge. The best part is the holidays have not really been a problem so far. I think the motivation is so strong right now that I will not allow the holiday goodies to get the best of me as in the past. To all of you, have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    Feeling down

Since the average weight loss should be 1 to 2 lbs per week, you are right on track. Just continue to focus on what you are eating and eat slowly. Remember, no drinking during eating. Continue the exercise. You are doing great!!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi All. I am checking in with weight loss for the Christmas Challenge. I am down 1lb this week with a total of 4lbs. With 3 weeks to go and seems that everyone is on track to meet the Challenge. Keep up the good work and have a Great WEEK!!
  23. My surgeon has told me to eat 1/2 cup at each meal. I was concerned that I was not getting enough food intake and he said to be sure to eat 4 to 5 times per day. So, with that I eat 1/2 cup or 4 ozs. 4 to 5 times per day and I feel complete satisfaction and never stuffed.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE. Here's hoping that everyone had a better day with self control than I did. I ate way too much in one sitting. In fact, I was done for the day by 2:30 p.m. I did pretty good with the sweets. I made a sugar free jello salad but I also made a pumpkin pie cake that was not sugar free. I probably have done ok as far as calories go for the day, but I am miserable. I am bloated and I have a knot in my upper stomach. It is all sitting there trying to go down. This is my first bad experience with food since I was banded and it felt like and I ate like I had not even been banded. But now, well, I feel it and it is not pleasant. I think I will be doing liquids for a couple of days just to give my stomach a much needed rest. I couldn't wait to get online to confess this to my band friends because I figure you are the one's who understand best. I am thankful for this website and the great posts and advise Have a great evening all and enjoy the shopping tomorrow!!!
