My One Year will be on Monday 1/31/11 and I am so close to my goal weight. BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF.

    Would You Do It Again?

I would get the Lapband again in a heart beat. It is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. BEST PART = Type 2 diabetes is GONE!! I'm blessed to be one of the people that has found the process to be easy. Good Luck
  3. I like the one from Costco = 30 grams of protein is awesome!
  4. I was banded on 1/31/10 and have lost 60 lbs. so far. I have 14 to go, but they are being stubborn. I'm going to schedule a fill soon - maybe that will help.
  5. I love reading all the excitement in the posts of the upcoming bandsters! I remember waiting for my date. I had my Lapband on 1/31/10 and it has been the best thing I have ever done. Even after 11 months, I still have a Protein shake for Breakfast every morning. It has become part of my life and I enjoy it. You can get creative with adding frozen or fresh fruit. I use the GNC brand. I have found that it tastes great. Personally I couldn't handle Isopure - completely made me gag. In fact I still have about a case in the pantry - wish I knew somebody close by to give it to. Stay positive - You can do this! Type 2 diabetes GONE and life is good!

    my first nsv

Keep up the good job! It's an exciting adventure. I've gone from a size 16 to now a size 8 - it can happen - not overnight but it WILL happen if you stick to it.

    Post-op Cheaters

I have NO CLUE how you ate a sandwich. I am (7) months out and still can't eat bread because it gets stuck everytime.
  8. I suggest you take a full week. My surgery was on a Sunday morning. I am a hotel General Manager and tried to go in on Thursday just to do the payroll. I was very weak and lightheaded and left as soon as payroll was submitted. I was definately not ready after the 4 days.

    Onderland!!!!

Congratulations! Keep jumping up and down - you deserve it.... I remember that day for me and it is quite an accomplishment.
  10. I know this is a late post but I had my lap band at San Dimas Surgical Center and LOVE them. I was there this morning for a fill adjustment and I am considering having breast augmentation when I finish losing all my weight (which I'm real close)!!!

    How did you do it????

    I guess I was a bad girl then cuz I didn't quit...........
  12. So glad to hear that you are feeling better. I had my 3rd fill on June 13th and it was a killer. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to settle down and for the throwing up to stop. I feel great now and believe that I have the restriction that I have been waiting for. Tonight we grilled tilapia on the BBQ and had potato salad. My rule is to finish my Protein first. After I finished my fish I only had room for 3 bites of potato salad. I was fine with that and still felt like I was part of the holiday weekend BBQ.
  13. I'm 5 months out and still couldn't eat a filet if my life depended on it. My 3rd fill was a killer though. I eat a lot of fish now and I do just fine with Pasta.
  14. For almost (10) years I have purchased the majority of my wardrobe from Lane Bryant. As a business professional I was always pleased with their selection of work attire. Today I went there for the purpose of purchasing new bras and panties since NONE of mine fit anymore and they were having a sale. I saw a couple pairs of size 14 pants on the clearance rack and thought "what the heck"...... Unbelievable - the size 14 pants were literally hanging on my new LapBand body. Had my "OMG" MOMENT today. I no longer fit in plus-size clothing. I LOVE MY BAND - it has changed my life!

    Am I too old?

I was Type 2 diabetic. Shortly after my surgery my blood sugar levels were in the "normal" range and have stayed there ever since. And I'm only 5 months post-op. I wouldn't trade this new health for the world!

    Am I too old?

I'm 46 and getting the lap band was one of the best decisions I have ever made! GO FOR IT!

    Dining Out Post Surgery

I don't do very well when we go out to eat. I usually make sure I know ahead of time where the restrooms are. I do best if I order fish, or if at a Mexican restaurant, I order cheese enchilada. I stay away from all beef and chicken because I tend to have stuck episodes. I haven't had a piece of bread in over 5 months because I have read that so many people have problems with it. I just don't want to go there! Closest thing to bread that I have had is a tortilla and thin Trisquit cracker. All in all - the LapBand has been amazing for me!

    Being john daily

I drink (1) diet coke every day and I've never had a problem.
  19. I didn't have a stuck episode until after my 2nd fill. Then I got stuck (3) times in the same week. For me it was a panic feeling. Happened twice at home and once at work. I had to go to the restroom and get sick each time in order to have relief. I don't think I have rescriction yet, because most of the time I feel like I could continue eating. But I am very cautious now about chewing really good and to just stop eating before becoming full. I don't want that stuck feeling again. I am close to 3 months post-op and still haven't even tried bread. The closest that I have come to bread is having a few Wheat Thins. I haven't even tried a tortilla - I just eat the insides of a burrito.

    100 lbs in 4 months

Congratulations - I don't even know you but I am very proud of you. The BAND WORKS as long as you are mentally prepared. I love mine - best thing I have ever done for my health. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
  21. Very interesting question. Mine is on my hip and currently still looks the same.
  22. I had my 2nd fill last week. Up until then I had not experienced any episodes of food being stuck or sliming. Wow - today was my first and boy was it a scary feeling. I had to excuse myself and go to the restroom to get sick. I had eaten tilapia before the 2nd fill with no problem. Decided to just have a Protein shake for dinner tonight to recover. Hoping to not have that feeling again ever.
  23. I crave them too. The closest thing to a bread-type food that I have tried so far is a Wheat Thin. Actualy, I did try an enchilada and had no problem. I ordered the (2) enchilada plate and ate (1) and took the other one home for lunch the next day. I can't believe how little I am able to eat anymore. I love it!

    Food, Subs??

My surgery was 7 weeks ago today. The closest that I have been to bread is a wheat thin. I might try a wrap or tortilla next, but after all the "bread stories" I have read on here, I'm petrified of it getting stuck.
