    4 days post op

I use benefiber mix two tablespoons in a glass of water and It does the trick for me..I was warned that miralax and other chemical based laxatives was not good for my system. my doc says you become dependant on them.. But you have to realize that the less you consume the less your going to poop..I usually have a bm every 3 to 4 days...If I feel like that it is time and I haven't I start drinking benefiber.

    Scared and anxious!

You know I will tell you from experience. You have to keep telling yourself that you are doing this for you and your health..You have to close your eyes and take a walk into the unknown. I was soo nervous the day I went into surgery. I had to talk to the surgeon one more time and I asked him a couple of question and after that I closed my eyes and took a very deep breath. They put an Iv in and told my wife that I loved her and she told me I will see you in about 2 hours.. I am soo glad that I took the step in the unknown it has really made a different so far in my life..I am a dedicated sleever and I would do it 100 times over if I had..
  3. Tiffikins is one of the sole authority on the sleeve in this forum. She also had the sleeve and it failed. I really do hope that she commits on this post. I didn't have the band but I have read that the failure rate is really high after 3-5 years. The more years you have it in the more likely it will slip or erode the stomach..I did about 4 months of studying on all the surgeries and I just kept coming back to the sleeve.. I guess the best thing I can tell you is to educate yourself..I will welcome you to this forum Just as you are good or bad. We are here to support one another, and we will be here in your need as well as anyothers needs. I am just really glad for myself that I took a long time to make my decision on the operation..I am a dedicated sleever and I am glad that I didn't decide to have the band.. Good luck

where to find a support group??

Is there any weightloss surgery centers close to you?? If so call them and tell them that you are looking for a weight loss surgery support group. They should be supportive even if you didn't have the surgery with them. I have found there are more bypass support groups. In Nashville,Tn. They have just now trying to start a support group for the sleeve. So you might only be able to find an bypass support group close to you.. I know it will be very different but might be the only option you have..
  7. You might have to go to another ppi. sometimes certain ppi don't work on everyone.. I used to take prilsec and I had to change because my symptoms would come back. So I talked with my doc and he switched me to protonics. Nexium is a really good one too. If you talk with your doc he will take of you..good luck

    Post Op Day Five

I truly agree with thin..lol The hospital sucks about getting sleep. I was so aggitated when I had surgery I would hit my pain pump to go to sleep. It seemed like every 10-15 minutes they were in my room taking blood pressure and sticking me with needles.. So I kinda drowned them out with my pain clicker.. I think most of my problems was the leg massagers, about 300 wires contected to me for the first 2 day I had a catheter.drip in my arm , wires going to my fingers. So how would anyone get comfortable under these circumstances..lol When I hit that button all my issues went away and I didn't have any problem sleeping..I am just glad I didn't have a drain tube that would truly truly suck for sure..

    I got a date!

Awesome!! we are wishing you a speedy recover and a pain free surgerry
  14. It is ok to do that for a couple of days but you need to set a date. I had a week were I was eating things that I knew I would no longer eat ever again so I finally got tired to giving into my selfish needs and set a day and started eating more healthy and exercising. I know it is very hard but it is not helping you out piggin. I guess one of the biggest things that you have to say is fairwell to the foods that made you overweight for soo long.. Trust me when I say when you start going the opposite directions on the scale there is nothing in the world that tastes better than be slim..
  15. Billy363627

    when does this get better?

you've got to get up and get your hydration going..Go for a walk and sip sip sip. It is only going to get better if you walk and drink. You have to get with your doc and tell him the issues about you not getting hydration. Take your pain meds and drink. I will tell you one thing if you cant' get your hydration going you will be back in the hospital with a drip in your arm. I told my self when I got out I was going to do anything in my power not to go back in. Get to drinking...
  16. Billy363627

Hmmm strage, generic not as good as name brand?

I defintely agree with yall.. I would skip the generic cold medicine to get to the name brand. You can look on the label and most of the ingrediants are the same but the medicine tastes different and I don't think it works the same.
  17. Billy363627

    Endoscopy??

Hey you get some good drugs...lol Anyway it is completely normal . I wouldn't worry anything about it. Probably just a test doc requires before going in.. They did an upper Gi on me before surgery.

    Happy and worried

update: I called baritaric nurse today and she told me to back off on the soft foods. They feel like I might have aggrevated my sleeve.. She said it also could be an ulcer. So they are giving me some medicine to coat my stomach and she said that it would help my stomach heal. Today I ate some refried mushed up beans and I feel really good right now so may I just went to the soft foods too fast or ate too fast. Hopefully I will be feeling better by the weekend..
  19. Well today marks the first day that I have met my first mini goal of 335 pounds. I have lost a total of 50 since my preop diet. I am very happy , but can't smile right now. I got to move to soft foods and I having really bad issues with the softs..Every time that I eat it hurts really bad and feels like the food is stuck around the bottom of my throat. I called my nurse and she said to take the meds that helps with stomach spasms and to go back to thick liquids. Now when I eat thick liquids it bothers me and I feel nausea when eating anything now.. I am calling her back today to see what is going on. Also she talked about putting something down my throat and make sure that the opening to my stomach is not narrowing..Well that really sounds fun!! I am soo nervous about all of this. I really want to get to something different than pudding yougurt and Protein shakes.. But I guess a temporary set back to make sure nothing is wrong and I'm healing good is worth it in the long run.

    Happy and worried

yes the doc has been threating a scope to make sure the upper part of my stomach is not narrowing..it is so weird and a little scary. I have been on ppi's since surgery so I don't know if it is acid.. I just know when I eat soft life tuna chicken salad etc. it feels llike when I swallow as if little needles are poking me..So right now waiting for my bariatric nurse to call me back and tell me something..I will update when I find something out. Good luck on yours though pat

    Need my sugar fix

I use my jello pudding (sf of course) get fat free whip topping and it becomes a wonderful treat and it helps with sugar cravings..I havent' really had anything that was just so terrible since I've had surgery.. I hope they never come back..
  22. Billy363627

    24 hours out now

I made them nurses keep giving me nausea shot and antiacids. Just keep walking and sipping you will get better every day.. I know that walking was one of the reasons I left so early..so keep up the good work and you'll be out of there in no time..

  24. Billy363627

Less than 24 hours to go!!

Awesome I wish you soo much luck
  25. OK well your going to be in the hospital. they will keep you very comfortable..When you get out of surgery you will be in pain you can tell them and they will give you meds... as far as walking when you wake up you can immediately bug the crap out of your nurses and ask them every time you see them about walking..I walked the night of surgery..the more you walk the less pain you will be in. you usually get ice chips the first day the most important part it to keep your mouth wet. when I was in my tongue felt like a piece of leather. You can let your ice melt and take tiny tiny sips..I was in the hospital for 2 days. A lot of people on the site were in for 3 it really depends on how good you do.. The second day I was bring around 32 ozs of water they said I was doing so good they let me out.. They usually wont let you drive on pain meds so my doc said when your off pain meds for good then you can drive.. It depends on the person> I felt really awesome around day 5 and on. I hope this really helps... Our prayer go out with you for a speedy recovery
