  1. Cont'd...

To be fair though I should state that I was solid to begin with, even at my highest weight I was solid not loose and flabby. After my last major weightloss (pre-surgery) I started to get cellulite, but I've found massage and exercise quickly gets rid of it... in fact I was able to wear a jean mini skirt again yesterday, totally made my day lol! - As women of color we definitely have an advantage in this weightloss battle when it comes to skin, muscle helps build (and rebuild) the connective tissue that the skin is connected to and burns that layer of fat between the muscles and the skin - once the fat is gone the "saggy" skin look WILL vanish. Let me know if you have an other questions - Good luck! :)

  2. Hey Lady! I haven't lost 100 yet, close but not yet, just calling my blog that lol... nice marketing tool ;)

I'll add you on FB! Hopefully you're easy to find, I can't wait to see the baby! And then we can keep up with each other more regularly because I'm ALWAYS on there lol... I may have a problem lol

  3. Hey Nikki! Congratulations on your upcoming banding! "Sliming" is literally that.. sliming.. basically when something gets "stuck" because of restriction, your body will naturally begin to water/lubricate your esophagus to move the food through, but because it's stuck and doesn't have anywhere to go it'll come up. Just thick saliva, think of the nauseous feeling you get just before throwing up the wanting to spit feeling, but not the tickling/sting that comes just before the actual act.. that's sliming.

The sweet spot - is the PERFECT restriction level where you're able to lose lose lose without losing restriction or wanting to overeat. I'm currently experiencing this YAY!

PB'ing is productive burping- burping that comes when you've eating too fast or too much, that helps relieve the pressure/stuck feeling.

  4. Hey there! To answer you question about gas pain:

Honestly I've just kept active and I didn't lay around. Even if I was "relaxing" or sleeping, I was in a recliner in a mostly upright position so the gas couldn't really deposit anywhere. Get up and walk every hour, even if it's just a few steps, get up and move.

Last night (night of day 4) was my first night in my bed, I was so comfortable, I overslept but evidently my body needed it. Short of my arm and shoulder hurting from sleeping in the same position all night (had to be careful of the incisions) my gas is pretty much gone and I feel 98%, then again I've only been up for about 30 mins lol..

I have some very light gas pain in my other shoulder but it's not really noticeable.

Also I only used the gas-x the first day and half, after that I stopped using it. Your body is a miraculous machine capable of healing itself, if you just do what it's telling you.

    Hope that helps.

  5. I do have a "full sensation" it doesn't take much at all for me. As for what I've been eating.. well I got in trouble from my dr's offfice lol.. but it's all been going down fine. I'm supposed to be on clear liquids which I did the first 48 hours then on day 3 I had "mushies" - my family was doing "turkmas" so I took 1/2 teaspoon of mashed potatos, green beans, jello, etc.. and I dipped my spoon into the piles and ate that, all in all I had about 3-3.5 teaspoons of food on my plate and didn't eat 1/2 of it.. I was FULL. I did however have room for pumpkin pie later, but I didn't eat the crust. Then I went to creamy soups and yogurt, jello and a shake here and there just to keep the protein up.

Today I had a zone bar, and broccoli cheese soup and again I'm FULL. Drinking water is the hardest for me. Pre-op I was drinking 100oz of water a day, it takes me about 4 hours to get through 1 16oz bottle of water.

  6. Merry Christmas to you and your as well! WLIA, I went there first, I liked the Drs and staff but at the time the insurance just didn't work out.

Let's see I'm 8 days post op and eating regularly. Just being careful. The bulk of my meals are still softs/mushies but I'm eating solids being sure to just chew chew chew. I got some info from one of the leading WLS surgeon's office and it fell in line with what my body was telling me, even though he's not my surgeon his methods work for me. They said nothing but walking for a month and I've been doing that and the elliptical machine to get a jump start so we'll see how it goes.

  7. Most gyms have where you sign up to play with people without a partner and they also have leagues, check your city's community centers/city parks/rec.

I'm starting to look for stuff like that now, I want to be as active as possible. lol believe it or not I found stuff like a dodgeball & kickball league for adults lol. Volleyball, softball all of that I'm IN.

  8. A local AZ welcome! Hope you enjoy it here! Let me know if there's anything I can assist you with or answer for you. :)

  9. Checked your profile out.. Your pics are beautiful (pre & post) and you can REALLY see the difference. Inspiring! :)

  10. Dr. Nirmul is my surgeon, yes I have a pre-op diet. 2 protein shakes, 2 meals per day. Elminate fatty foods, etc.the pre-op diet is based off of your BMI & it can be anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 days or not at all if you're low on the BMI spectrum. The purpose of the pre-op is to shrink your liver & prepare your body for the change. People who don't pre-op diet tend to have more headaches, irritability & even depression from the change of food, sudden lack of carbs, etc... But it all depends on the purpose. Your Dr. is a specialist so I would feel confident that he knows what he's doing. I had a friend who had no pre-op diet & no real post-op diet or restrictions after. She was at the borderline of having to have the surgery, actually had to gain 20lbs so that may be the difference. Overall I would feel confident in your surgeon and I love love love the Scottsdale Shea hospital -the only reason I didn't use him is because I'm impatient & implusive, I went with the quickest availability

  11. Everything is going great.. I've just been SUPER busy but things are winding down.. I blogged yesterday for the first time in awhile... but I'll get back into it.. How's everything with you?

  12. Everything is going really good. Getting fills every two weeks, really starting to feel real restriction. On the 18th I'll be 4 month post-op and even with the 15lb muscle weight gain I had last month I'm still ahead of the curve when it comes to losing, so I'm doing really well with a weightloss around the 60lb mark, I was closer to 80 but I look better and feel better, scale is up but measurements and dress sizes are down :) no complaints here. Hope October hurries for you! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

  13. Glad to see you're healing quickly!

  14. Hello new friend! Thanks for the request! Have an awesome day!

  15. Hey Bella! Thanks for the request! Looking forward to getting acquainted!

  16. Hey Dusty! just checkin' in on ya! Hope all went well!

  17. Hey I read your comment on the new woman blog....I would look for another surgeon. 1 oz at a time is NOTHING... A cup at a time maybe, but 1 oz is a shot glass. If that's what the Dr is telling you, I would DEFINITELY find a new one.

  18. Hey lady how you doing? I finally made it back over here and I wanted to check in on you and baby! I just read it's a BOY congratulations!!! Any day now huh??? I pray the best for you and him for an easy and healthy delivery!

  19. Hey lady just checking in on you and baby - how is everything going?

  20. Hey lady! Vegan diet is going well.. lots of results, I also went gluten free which wasn't necessary but it makes a HUGE difference.. my face no longer bloats on a daily basis etc.. carbs/gluten always seemed to make be grow an extra chin over night LOL.. anyways it's all going good, I know what you mean about the stall, but back on tracky missy! lol WE CAN DO THIS!

  21. Hey Ms. Lady how's everything going?

  22. Hey Ms. Trina, thanks for the request...looked at your progress you look AWESOME!

  23. Hey new friend thanks for the add! Looking forward to getting to know you!

  24. Hey new friend! Hope you're having an awesome and fabulous day!

  25. Hey new friend! So far so good, day 5, feeling good. Lil' gas pain in my shoulder but other than that doing well. Just be prepared to spend an hour longer than you should at TR for your appointments. The staff is nice and once you're in you're in and out pretty quick, but there's alot of sitting around and waiting. You'll see cheaper by the dozen and that other movie over and over and over again lol.. Other than that no real complaints. The surgeon, Dr. Nirmul is good and has a great personality. Dr. Suhoni-Skinner will be who you see most of the time, she's friendly as well once she warms up to you. I didn't do the consult/seminar with them. I'd attended so many of them over the last 5 yrs I knew what it was and just wanted to proceed. Just stick to it, find out what your insurance requires and you'll be banded in no time! :)
